I don't like the idea that lives are destroyed through people stopping fishing, but there are many other jobs, people do not need to FISH to make a living. IF fishing were to be stopped, measures would need to be taken to help people in this trade so people wouldnt be out of jobs; there are many other jobs that their skills could be used for, so it's not impossible.

First of all, Spricket is a pretty educated woman who does her research so I'm sure she's aware of the REAL issues regarding overfishing. PETA takes things too far is what she is saying, she is not saying that fish do not need help but that calling them "sea kittens" is not going to help their cause. And being vegan is a life style choice, she decided to be vegan for the health benefits...you know if you all were listening you would have heard that part. So her eating fish sometimes is fine. There are different kinds of vegans and each person has their reasons for being vegan.

I have never used Peta as a source for anything for the reason that you stated (they don't use real facts). I only use creadible sources. I'm not against fishing, I'm against over fishing. I wouldn't want you to stop eating fish (since most fish are healthy to eat, I even eat fish sometimes). The UN (an internationally recognized group) recognizing overfishing as a problem shows how much of an issue it actually is for those who really know about the subject.
Saying studies published in scholarly journals are created by phonies or people with fixed agendas is weak. I think you have a misconception on the scientific community. As scientists, most of us want to put out real information about the world (since most of us genuinely are interested in the study of life). There's a wealth of evidence that at the rate we're going at (with overfishing) fish will reach extinction within the next 50 years, whether we use nets correctly or not.
I agree that Peta doesn't make a real difference. In my opinion, they probably make it worse. I'm not criticizing her on making fun of Peta (which I know is her main point on this video). I'm criticizing her on laughing at the idea of saving fish. I just pointed out (rather harshly) that overfishing is in fact a real problem. I have as much of a right to criticize her on that as she does to criticize Peta.

The northern cod industry in Newfoundland, Canada was once one of the greatest in the world. In 1992 no one was able to catch fish there(due to overfishing). Overfishing essentially unbalanced the ecosystem so much that the ecosystem died. Also, over 40,000 fishermen lost their jobs due to their overfishing.
The fishing industry is slowly dying due to the unrelentless fishing that is going on. If fishing practices keep going on as they are, fishermen will continue to loss jobs.
The United Nations has also started implementing caps. No, she is not right. Most of that stuff (about saving the fish) is not just alarmist. Multiple studies have been done showing the harmful effects. So before you tell me that this stuff is just alarmist, do some research. Look at actual studies that have been done by real scientists. I can give you about 20 studies on this subject if you really want from scholarly journals. If you don't, please keep an open mind.

IF fishing were to be stopped, measures would need to be taken to help people in this trade so people wouldnt be out of jobs; there are many other jobs that their skills could be used for, so it's not impossible.

First of all, Spricket is a pretty educated woman who does her research so I'm sure she's aware of the REAL issues regarding overfishing. I think she points out a lot of good points. When one species depopulates, others do too like a chain reaction, eventually destroying Coral Reefs. I have never used Peta as a source for anything for the reason that you stated (they don't use real facts). I only use creadible sources. I'm not against fishing, I'm against over fishing. I wouldn't want you to stop eating fish (since most fish are healthy to eat, I even eat fish sometimes). The UN (an internationally recognized group) recognizing overfishing as a problem shows how much of an issue it actually is for those who really know about the subject.

Saying studies published in scholarly journals are created by phonies or people with fixed agendas is weak. I think you have a misconception on the scientific community. As scientists, most of us want to put out real information about the world (since most of us genuinely are interested in the study of life). There's a wealth of evidence that at the rate we're going at (with overfishing) fish will reach extinction within the next 50 years, whether we use nets correctly or not.

The northern cod industry in Newfoundland, Canada was once one of the greatest in the world. In 1992 no one was able to catch fish there(due to overfishing). Overfishing essentially unbalanced the ecosystem so much that the ecosystem died. Also, over 40,000 fishermen lost their jobs due to their overfishing.
The fishing industry is slowly dying due to the unrelentless fishing that is going on. If fishing practices keep going on as they are, fishermen will continue to loss jobs.

Multiple studies have been done showing the harmful effects. So before you tell me that this stuff is just alarmist, do some research. Look at actual studies that have been done by real scientists. Hi, I'm from NB Canada. Yeah...I guess we club 'em to death. Actualy I just watched a video that said that when they beggin to shed their fur we are allowed to kill them. We kill 'em because they are eating too much salmon...euh...I mean sea kittens. I'd say we that we are allowed to kill 'em probably because our economy rellys alot on selling fish and other kinds of sea creatures.

PETA has such a bad stigma and reputation that anything that they do is counter productive to their cause. The only people who have any respect for PETA is PETA itself. Most peopel hat ePETA. PETA may as well disband. IF they want to support a cause their only chance is to disband and form a new group under a new name. The damage that they have done to themselves is non repairable.

I don't think eating any certain way is wrong, but i would definitely say that a good balance of fruits, vegetables, and meat (organic if you can... it's so gooooood... lol)is the best diet. (workout too pplz!!!)

we need to start an anti peta propaganda campaign. to counter the threat of expanding over-vegetarianism, we should now call all vegetables earthkittens, and fruits will now be known as treebabies. chickens, pigs, and cows will continue to be called "delicious in moderation".

Your lifestyle has caused animal populations to explode which has detroyed entire ecosystems. Pastures with billions of plants were devoured by greedy sheep and cows who only live to stuff their faces with LIVING ORGANISMS! After they are ripped to pieces by the animals's mouth then are the dissolved by acids! Entire fields where billions of plants lived where destroyed by a bunch of greedy animals.

overfishing- bad /fishing anoth- good / not fishing at all - unknown / so should all of us go into the unknown for peta just to prob end up hurting the sea for example if a bear was took away for a river ecosystem that means the other fish eater animals would get more in turn possible hurting the fish so if we stop could it help them yes could if make an inbalance cause the fish to be hurt yes so should we humans just let animals control us and die to save an animal that was made to help us smar

Why is it that when we argue about the practices of PETA, a member says we're ignorant? So, you being a PETA member, it's okay for you to kill the animals you rescue, spend millions of dollars on Pam Anderson to wear nothing in your campaigns instead of having no kill shelters (which you would have, if you love animals as much as i do and wouldn't even think about spiking them with death and dumping them in a dumpster!) The only thing I have to disagree with you on is peta's other campaigns. I don't support anything they've done, their motives and actions are ridiculous. I guess an outfit, made of plants is kind of hot, but I would have the same reaction to fur bikinis (sorry if that offends anyone)...if not find it more hot. They don't really believe in saving animals, at least not domesticated ones such as dogs and cats. I don't think actual abuse is good, but animal rights is silly. Animal welfare is okay.

This is just yet another progressive attempt to engineer society by changing its language. Much like them editing out the words "nigger, negro" and "injun" from Mark Twain's Huck Finn, or them wanting to censor the word "target, shot, kill" even though they're used in a context that any reasonable person would understand does not mean go kill someone. fish need to be protected. fishing is a huge industry and it needs to continue but we cant be poaching fish to near extinction. im not a vegan or a peta member, i just understand how our eco system works. unfortunatly our whale population is being fished to extinction. fishing needs to take place, but there has to be a balance. as far as these "sea kittens" now THATS funny
