This is stock transmission, this system just replaces the H-pattern of shifting, so you can shift faster and not make errors (ie... miss a gear). It's hard on the syncros, but cool.
@nicbarrow then you dont understand the difference between a manumatic (tiptronic, smg style, paddle shifters) and a sequential gearbox. This still needs a clutch but is sequential. As in you cant skip a gear.
What part do you dont understand?? 6 speed is. just not H pattern it's pattern up / down. Paddle shifters are GAY, for non experienced drivers who doesn't know use clutch.
@2jzgtejza80 I guess you could say that about the newer crowd. But if your someone who is all about speed,Then perhaps in the past before dual-clutch boxes, you would use the traditional manual transmission, but now that dual-clutches are faster, then you'd switch. Does not necessarily mean you are an inexperienced driver
Well dual-clutch is OK when you racing for money, but for track days or any other non-profit racing is useless. Classic manual trans. or sequential manual trans. are better, because, you learn how to shift proper and how to control car. With automatic trans. you can't control car. Experienced drivers usually votes for manual shifter. Semi-autos like DGS, PDK, SMG are OK, but classic old automatics are catastrophic.
Unfortunately we dont make it for tossers like you.. only people who can afford The best of vehicles & parts. our focus is Japanese cars/parts. not websites..
your an idiot pre 2003 they had momo wheels in them i know i have a 02 sti fuckn idiots that dont know shit and just want to sound like you know alot which you dont....fuckhead
He is using up the syncros! I can hear it. He needs to stop downshifting, letting the revs drop, and then dropping the clutch slowly. It's called rev matching and it will extend the life of your transmission.
You never HAVE to rev match it's just better for the transmission. Also, no, you don't have to rev match with all transmissions, but the only common transmission you don't need to rev match is a dogbox. But on that you don't even clutch-they aren't really made for street cars. Most people put them on low lever rally cars and race cars. high level racing usually use sequential gearboxes.
Oh ok makes sense rev matching just avoids long term tranny problems, thanks alot. I want to buy an STi in a month or 2 so this was really useful info! :)
fasho. Yeah STI's are nice. I have a WRX and I will say you wont be disappointed. My only complaint on the 04+ WRX and STI is the drive-by-wire throttle body. It's an electronic servo that turns the butterfly valve based on foot pedal position instead of a mechanical direct cable linkage from the throttle body to the gas pedal. There's a SLIGHT delay but it's what most cars have so I guess it's not so bad.
may b so but i thought the idea of a sequential shifter was 2 change gears faster. how can u change gears faster if ya still using a clutch. wot this is is a shifter for people who can never find the right gear. this is just my opinion n e ways. i think its pointless
haha than you obviously dont understand the purpose. Do you think the WRC and drifting industry ,a multi BILLION dollar industry if imight remind you, would put them in there cars, if they were pointless? how is it not easier to just press the clutch and not having the worry about a miss shift.
if u might remind me? ya never told me 2 start off with so how can u remind me? WRC cars use semi-automatic clutchs. they have a clutch but only use it 2 pull away from the start, the rest of the time while driving, they dont need it. look it up. something to do while ya smokin ya joint :)
hahaha your an idiot buddy, they dont use there clutch to pull away from the start hahahah they have launch control on those cars, they only use there clutch when they need to make handbreak turns, they used this syncro technology back in 2002, they use a paddle setup now, get your shit fuckwad hahaha
ya shootin yaself in the foot aint ya? so they dont use a clutch then. so y r we havin this debate on this video if this car aint got the same set-up? and y u callin me an idiot for? whats with ya attitude? casual smoke is fine but if it makes u like how u r, go get help. jesus
That is incorrect. Launch control does not get rid of the clutch. Launch control just holds revs at certain rpm while you release the clutch as to not burn the clutch or bog down. The clutch is used during launches in WRC. Other than that they have dogbox transmissions that can handle non-clutch shifting. A sequential gear box does help so they dont have to focus on the gear and can focus on the turn coming up at 100mph.
No lol, if I was going to teach anyone how to drive it wont be a retard like this, I dont even know what this guys thinking, who shifts like that haha :S

this is a normal manual gearbox - it just looks as though it is sequential - he is using the clutch on upshifts and not flatshifting which proves it.

I can see this preventing miss-shifts and it is a tad quicker when you can just smash through the gears without "feeling" the gates.
