Personally I find Coldplay excel at feel-good light hearted songs while Athlete are better at intimate, slow paced songs. But they are both brilliant bands.

Coldplay appeal to those unable to form an opinion on music. Its broad inofensive and catchy. Athlete appeal to those who moved on from colplay but are after somethig more meatier. This is by no means an attack on you, cause i think politic by coldplay is a glimps of brilliance. If you are fan of these bands check out morning runner-burning benches, they were meant to be the next coldplay but that song is just amazing.
