only went there once before it closed down via road trip. it almost made that drive from gulfport, MS and Memphis, TN worth waiting for. bring it back!
Thank you for posting this. I spent many a happy day there as a kid, and was saddened when my mom told me it was closing. Maybe now that the crappy mall's been flooded out, Let's hope Opryland might live again.
Damn you Gaylord entertainment. All you care about is your stupid hotel. You tore down a perfectly good theme park to build a generic cookie cutter mall, which you don't even own anymore. You got rid of the Nashville Network, which the new owner promply changed the format and name to "Spike" and dropped country music. You owned CMT which you also sold. You sold WSM FM, away from WSM 650, and the ratings have dropped for WSM AM 650. Sell it to someone who cares and rebuild opryland.
I was a child then and know im an adult and i wanna go and th emall was closed. surved the mall right! Know tear it down and Build a amusement park. if there is nothing left to build!!!!!!!
I agree, bring Opryland back! Sounds like alot of you are mad about what Gaylord Entertainment did with Opryland, like us fans are mad about what Burroghs & Chapin did with the Myrtle Beach Pavilion arcade building & Amusement park in Myrtle Beach, SC. I wish the good 'ol days would make a HUGE comeback & blow the sh!tty 2000's out of the door!!! LOL
thank you for posting!! it brought tears to my eyes i remember the year the grizzly river rampage opened i was 8 what a great summer i always loved going there i hate that it is gone!!!
I was never fortunate enough to get there when the park was open- but was there recently for business, but you can see parts of the rapid ride trough still there. Really sad- looked like a beautiful park. Funny mall not that crowded either... go figure.
Thank you Gaylord Entertainment for tearing down what Nashville only had one of to build something that Nashville already had 9 of... DUMB ASSES I hope your mall rots....
i'm a grown man & this brought tears too my eyes..i used 2 have season passes & every summer me & my friends would go every single weekend! One of my friends even wrote this in my middle school yearbook "C-Ya at Opryland Sunday"...
over 10 years gone now. it feels like I spent every day of my summers there when I was a a kid. shutting down this theme park still, to this day, tops the long list of GAYlord's biggest mistakes.
I posted this on Myspace, I loved it sooo much! It made me cry. It brought back so many fond memories that I finally drew I didn't dream that Opryland was really here!
An Update from Opryland - The remains of the Grizzly River Rampage have now been removed to make way for a building to host the ICE show.

Wow, thanks.
I've always wondered what the real thing looked like. I went to Nashville a while back and all that was left was a small part of the log flume.

Great park. Those planes developed my fear of flying. When dad and I went up I closed my eyes and nearly screamed from the vertigo.
