Awesome skills but incredibly frustrating to learn. The cards go flying as soon as I touch them. Same as that bloody spring. I therefore conclude that all these videos are actually CGI and completely fake. It is physically impossible to do anything this guy does unless he is somehow changing the laws of physics. Newton and Einstein will not be pleased.
Also tried sooo many times to spin it to no luck, but the moment I try with the pack in the incorrect spot of the palm....I get a rotation...then a slip off my finger :/

@Cizburgers What suits you best, Virtuoso crew members use Alladins (I don't know if with air cussion finish or not), people use Tally Ho's, Bicycle's that sort of stuff. But Bicycle now mostly uses air cussion finish...
So much respect for you! That was amazing! What was your video editing, I love your fonts and effects Well done! and love the tutorial. Simple and fast. Better than Cardshark!

This is probley a dumb question,, but who is the flourisher in the video! Like DAMMM thats crazy how he can do that so fast and perfect. This is better than watching porn :P
@GrahamHorgan The performer/tip-giver in the video is our very own Daren Yeow, master of badassery and other such stuff. And yes, watching Daren do what he does with a deck of cards is almost better than watching porn. Almost.
How can you tell which side to flick? Everytime i flick the packet at the middle, the palm pivot point either slides off or it hits the deck which wont rotate.

Can you explain your reasoning for the pivot point location? Because I always seem to do better when I pivot on the spot you said not to. Should I stop doing that?
This video assumes that you already know the basic handling of the Tornado Cut, and is just giving you tips on how to improve on what you already know.
Great tutorial. Thank you. Although you make it look a lot easier than it is for me right now. But the one lesson i have learned in my attempt to be a cardist is that every move is so hard until you practice it a bit, then it suddenly becomes easier and easier until you wonder why you had a hard time with it in the first place.
The 4-6 packet is the first one you pull off and then you hold the rest of the cards split into fat apckets, one in each hand. Hope that makes a little sense. I had to watch this about 10 times before i could do it.
You probably want to position the corner of the packet so that it's directly in the most fleshy area of the pinky, but not with a grip that's so hard that the packet has no looseness to spin with. It's a bit of a knack, but once you get used to it it'll be just like riding a bicycle. Especially if you *are * using Bicycles.
Had the same problem when I first learned this. Just keep practicing and you will get used to it and it will come natural. Also a tip that helped me was to try and minimize the movement of one hand. That helped me so maybe it will help you.
Hear about YouTube spam? I haven't until a few hours back I blocked a user with no sweat atall. Just clicked 'Block User' and he got b anned! It was a challenge for me but now I understand it cause was easy to learn.
@thevirts I took this advice and sadly it didn't help. When I attempt to spin the packet with a lighter grip, it moves down my little finger and slips out of my grip. More practice would be the obvious advice, but, I have been trying this for over 2 weeks now to no avail. Please help me!
How do I get it to spin like that? Should I just practice? It seems that when I flick the packet with my right ring finger, it just moves a little bit, doesn't really spin very much.
i dont get it. how can i spin the deck like that? :O
i give it a kinda flick with my right ring finger and it just turns half way. im sure that the pivot points are right. but i dont get the "momentum and weight." can you explain in detail please? :O
Standard, air-cushioned cards would probably be your best bet, as it is not just the weight but the friction (or lack thereof) between the cards that affects your flourishing efficiency.
In the case of this video Daren is using Aladdin 1001s, which are actually plastic coated. In the case of a cut this is usually fine, though if you're gunning for more spread-wise flourish such as fans you're better off with a Tally-Ho deck or something similar.
I was wondering; the only deck I can get locally are standard Bicycles. Do you (or anyone for that matter) know where I can get any better decks? I live in the UK so it's not great. Can't order online from any US shops like Dan and Daves or Ellusionist. Any ideas? Thanks guys.
Apologies for the lewd comments from TheJoshuaTuber, that user was way out of line. Rest assured he's been blocked from commenting on this channel from now on.
Anyway, regarding getting cards in the UK, I'd say try checking out prices for UK-based dealers on eBay—I know of some people who live there who have gotten their cards that way, and for reasonable prices to boot.
That's a blue non air-cushioned Aladdin 1001, which Daren copped from me.
If you aren't able to cop a deck from me, though, I would suggest Dan and Dave Buck's site—they stock the non AC Aladdins for pretty reasonable prices.
Ah—if you're from Singapore then just get the ones at the 7-11s, mamashops, or even better—Golden Landmark. The difference between air-cushioned Aladdins and the non air-cushioned ones are that the non air-cushioned ones don't suck. You'll see them marked on the box as either 'Smooth Finish' or with no description at all.
As for comparing them to Tally-Ho's, they're definitely a lot harder to handle. I know that a lot of people don't like them, but I tend to use them a lot because
I feel you get better practice out of them that way. But hey, that's just me, and I'm a little weird that way... haha.
I'd say go ahead and try them out, see if they float your boat. And if not, they're only 3 bucks anyway, so it shouldn't be too much of a blow to your financial resources.
Yeah, I'd say that Golden Landmark will probably give you the best deals in town. Plus, the ladies there are very nice and friendly, as anyone who's been a patron there will surely tell you.
where can i find a tutrial for this trick?

hey dude, what kind of deck are you using in the tutorial? and where did you get that deck?
mrletspl4ygames 2 years ago
That's a blue non air-cushioned Aladdin 1001, which Daren copped from me.
If you aren't able to cop a deck from me, though, I would suggest Dan and Dave Buck's site—they stock the non AC Aladdins for pretty reasonable prices.

those that they sell at the mamashops. are they the same in quality? and what does it mean that its non air cushioned ?
btw, psps im quite loh so.

HAHA! i also feel so actually leh.
using cards that are harder to handle is indeed a better way of training lo.
for when you use those that are of better quality, they will handle much more easily.
thanks arhs . cya around ^^

is it cheaper in golden landmark?
jasonffx01 2 years ago
Yeah, I'd say that Golden Landmark will probably give you the best deals in town. Plus, the ladies there are very nice and friendly, as anyone who's been a patron there will surely tell you.

It used to be taught in Ashford Kneitel's Tornado Cut DVD, but unfortunately that's been sold out for a while.
