@ waddledukie1 - I was just scrolling down panning through comments made by the video. There was a mention of Caroline and Yu Na, I threw Sasha's name out because I heard she was planning a come back. I totally understand this is about Mirai's skating but I was just throwing a name on the forum because there hasn't been a sole strong single ladies competitor leading to the Olympics and because she had announce a come back!
However I am not going to apologize for being discriminate on their landing technique. It is how I was taught to look at every little detail to help improve not just my skating but for others as well. Sure Sasha's Long Programs hasn't been near perfect, nor Caroline's excessive high kicks before her flip and lutz's but Mirai now is the focus because she does have what it takes, just like Alissa. As Mirai gets comfortable with her new height, she's just going to get better!
As a figure skater, and no, I am not of Olympic caliber because I am an Adult Figure Skater and having learned skating from past American, Swiss, French, Canadian and Russian Champions has definitely helped me learn what to look for when it comes to skating and the evil eyes of the IJS panel so that's where the nitpicking comes from. I just want the best for all of the skaters & am glad at Sasha's showing @ the US Nationals, upset at Mirai's standings and happy for fellow San Diegan Rachel.
@ dsfddsgh & Waddleduckie1 - And even though English is my 5th Language, I can perceive negativeness. Maybe I am misunderstanding both of you but perhaps rephrasing some of your comments so they don't come out rude. And besides, I am a figure skater and actually have video's of them open for anyone to comment and the 2 of you dont.
Um, I'm not trying to start an arguement but I'm only mentioning that Sasha Cohen is trying to come back and should at least be given a little chance to redeem herself. Besides, I know Mirai is great but her landings are still a bit shaky sometimes. I wanna see both Mirai and Sasha do great at US Nationals.
Mirai shaky on her landings? Then why hasn't Sash Cohen ever been able to avoid falling after her jumps in every long program? She never got gold as a result. Go Mirai! You are better than Kim Yuna !
because both Mirai and Sasha are extremely flexible. Talented as they are and I always wish I could do spins and extensions like they do, execution of the landings will also help their placement on the IJS panel!
I am not looking Mirai down because of her shaky landings, and I agree with you so does Sasha. I'm just merely implying that if their landings were ever more precise than having to switch edges on their landings, it would make them score even better on the IJS!!!
And it's a comment forum so I should have the freedom to comment whatever I have to say without telling anyone to shut their ideas off. It's an open forum saying their open ideas and thoughts. That is just mine and not yours. Get off my back and pick a fight somewhere else. My intent is to suggest and compare. They are both great skaters I agree I am merely emphasising at the moment there are a few other prospects as well.
Look, I am not here to pick a fight with you. I merely state that what seems open is not entirely open. When I discuss things privately with you, I do it. But NOT in front of other people. And the other thing is already too many people has picked a fight in this forum. The less, the better. We are here, all to get along. So anyway, now its not a big deal.
@soulmuzixercher Sasha is a senior she's past the junior stage lol
Keep in mind that Sasha is planning to come back this year, but definitely will not be competing in a junior world competition. The video here is from 2008.
yeah, i thought she was US champion? how come she's only at junior worlds? if this is that stupid rule that prevented sasha cohen competing at senior worlds, then it should totally be abolished for being ridiculous. the competitions should go on the skaters ability, not their age! but yeah, amazing performance by mirai, such a great skater
I love Mirai. She has excellent technique and is extremely graceful. On the other hand, I think she also needs to work a bit more on her flow and connection with her audience. Although Caroline's jumping technique is seriously flawed, she does has star quality.
haha..its hilarious to think that this short program would have won regular worlds! The highest score at worlds in the sp was a 64.28! This ISU rule must be abolsihed!
US Nationals is not an ISU sanctioned event. Only scores from internationals are considered for personal bests. However, I think this score shows that her Nationals score was no fluke, or was not inflated; there was an edge call here on her Lutz, the solo jump is only a loop, and generally the program wasn't skated quite as well as in Spokane. I think she will be fully capable of 70+ points in the short program in international competition this season.
Mirai is so amazing. Her Triple Lutz-Triple Toe Loop is incredibly clean as well as her Triple Loop. :) Go her. I hope to see her at the 2010 Olympics.
Which place has she do?

Mirai currently copies Arakawa's ina bauer. But Mirai doesn't copy anything from Yu Na Kim.

She copies Yu-Na's ina bauer and into an axel.

no. She doesn't copies anybody. If you look at Mirai's ina bauer, it is quite different. Anyway, its no big deal, hkitty383.
waddleduckie1 3 years ago
@hkitty383 That wasn't even Yuna's move to begin with, only her signature. And Yuna copies Michelle Kwan, but no one says anything about that.
