  • GN's original R-2's had 153,000 lbs. of tractive effort and they had to reduce the bore of the front cylinders to reduce slipping which resulted in a drop to 142,000 lbs. This was still 7,000 lbs. more tractive effort than the Big Boy. WP and DM&IR's Yellowstones were also more powerful than Big Boy.

  • THIS would have been bigger than the Big Boy if it hadent had those 2 front and back wheels!!!

  • Great Northern and Northern Pacific were two totally different railroads.

  • that is the NYC dreyfuss and J1e whistle... It dosn't suit this engine.

  • You can change the whistle with MTH's DCS system.

  • if you check, you'll find that I have a number of double-headed and triple-headed trains in videos.
