when ron, linda yu and jerry taft retire, the schedule should change to this: - hosea, judy, tracy and roz in the morning - judy, sylvia and tracy at 11am - hosea, sylvia, mike and j.r. at 4pm - kathy, cheryl, phil and mark at 5pm - alan, kathy, mike and j.r. at 6pm - alan, cheryl, phil and mark at 10pm - ben bradley, stacey and mark bishop weekend mornings - ravi, karen, ryan and new weatherman (from another station, maybe ed curran?)

Ron Rolland is not the voiceover for WLS-TV anymore. There's a new guy and he doesn't fit with the music or graphics. That's my opinion.

KMGH uses that set in WLS's talent open for their talent opens. It's sort of strange that they both use this promo set even though they are in different cities.

That's about as impressive of a set as I've ever seen. That and the TV set and the graphics are just like the most spectacular things I have ever EVER seen. The music is original, too.

I love how the 10pm news has three powerhouse news anchors--Kathy, Ron, and Cheryl. I've always thought it was genius and makes it far superior to other newscasts--which the ratings show.

No Ron and Kathy are the main anchors. Cheryl is a contributor. She will report on the main story of the day. WMAQ kinda has the same thing. Marion Brooks does the same thing. She reports on the main story of the day. But not all the time like Cheryl.

I'm sure the 4 pm is directed tward women as well, but there are more men watching the 4 pm than the 11 pm, so they add Alan. plus, with the way WLS has set up their anchoring scheduel, every anchor (exept for the morning team) gets 2 newscasts

RON: 5&10

KATHY: 6&10

CHERYL: 5&10

ALAN: 4&6

LINDA: 11&4

SYLVIA: 11&4

I like it because no two people co-anchor the same newscast. It is always two different people. I think it'd be boring if the same anchors did the 5, 6, and 10pm newscast like on NBC 5.

well, i know why that is...they need different genders at the desk as well. and the only reason the 11am has Sylvia and Linda is because the 11am newscast is directed tward women. But this isn't the case in the 10pm. they need 2 different genders...i guess it's a policy ;)

EXACTLY. That is what INNCD News is leaning towards. INNCD recenlt did an investigation on "Women Anchoring, Men Reporting." I was right on the anchor part and incorrect on the reporter/fill-in anchor tests, and that surprised me.

I guess that is it. I like Alan Krashesky but I just figured since he is already on at 4 and 6, they could let Cheryl co-anchor at 10, regardless of which one is off. You'll notice Sylvia Perez always fills in for either Alan or Linda at 4pm...it nevers matters on that newscast.

Yes, it makes the 10pm feel like the Grandaddy of all the other newscasts, but I don't think Cheryl should be considered as part of the newscast considering she doesn't even really anchor this and she only does one story...she's not even at the desk at the end of the newscast...I don't see why she's in the Open.

Great one! Although if ABC bought the McGraw-Hill Broadcaasting stations, WRTV (Indy), KMGH (Denver), KGTV (San Diego), and KERO (Bakersfield) would be ABC owned stations.

She's part of the newscast so that there is an African-American presence on the newscast--due to ABC 7 having a large number of African-American viewers. I guess they felt they needed to give the spot to Kathy Brock over Cheryl when Diann Burns left. I have written ABC 7 several times to ask WHY Cheryl fills in for Kathy but not Ron Magers. If Cheryl's name is on the newscast then she, not Alan Krashesky, should fill in for either Ron or Kathy...
