  • Wow Mike I haven't heard this in ages I still love it and your talent . Your friend from long ago Alan Medrano.

  • Went to Philmont Too- Love Red River and Michael's one the nicest guys you'd ever want to meet.

  • I remember Philmont as well, brings back good memories and beautiful times.

  • It's really sad that this amazing song has only been heard by 6617 people.

  • @BobBobbert100 HEY NOW! I CAN ATTEST TO 2 more PEOPLE that heard this GREAT TUNE performed Live at the ALLEY CANTINA in Taos New Mexico. A freind and I ventured there 9 yrs back for a little work/SKI Vacation. We ventured into town for some eats and liquids only to be BLOWN AWAY BY Michael's band South by SouthWest performing live at the Alley Cantina, Such a small venue for such a __CKING GREAT SOUNDING BAND!! We were there for 2 1/2 wks and saw them 3 additional times. Get 2 TAOS & see THEM!

  • I added this to the closing show at Philmont in 1992. I had to learn to play the guitar just to make this song come together. (THanks goes to the Kosmikis for the help with the chords)

  • The first time I heard this was on some NM Travel screensaver I recieved yesterday. Maybe I should come for a visit

  • If you can, try to find the cd The I-10 Chronicles, and among other brilliants tunes, you gonna find the studio version of this wonderful song and for sure it´s gonna blows your mind just like did with mine!!

  • I heard him play this live 12 years ago and instantly thought it should be a nationwide hit. Absolutely gorgeous, Michael.

  • ... heart hurts...

  • Brings back so many memories of dancing in Red River and at The Kit Carson. RIP Rankin. You are loved and missed....

  • This makes me want to go back to Philmont!

  • everytime i hear it i cant help but think of philmont

    beautiful song

  • This song makes me so homesick!!! I grew up in Red and so miss my mountains and the life. I think I learned to waltz to this song..I wore out my GAHTB tape...Buck, give my best to Bill and Bonnie and the rest...Revell...

  • Thank you Michael, come home a little more often. We miss you, and hope to see you in LA soon.

  • thanks i love this song......

  • Man...I went up and checked out Michael Hearne at the Larry Joe Taylor festival and i had never heard of him or anything, but it didn't take me long to love his style of music. especially this song

  • I love this song and Michael Hearne brings Red River, NM back to mind. It's been a few years since I've been back and I miss it. Here's to everyone from there, and please have one for me in memory of Drew.

  • New Mexico is great because it's the only place where the chili, pico de gallo, salsa ect... is good.

  • @pianojake94 you could try old mexico. AKA Mexico.

  • I first heard of this song performed at the national scout ranch Philmont in NM and am still in awe of the beauty and simplicity of it.

  • Same with me...i always can see Philmont more clearly when i hear this song!!!

  • It's a philmont standard

  • @thangtraubo only place i had heard it too. it definitely stuck with me all these years.

  • This is such a great song, I have a recording i did of this song at the Tommy Alverson Family get together last year.the stage was loaded with many of the artists singing the chorus for this, it was prob the magical moment of the entire event, i really need to put it up on my site soeveryone can see...such a great song!

  • I hear you bluestrogirl. As a native texan, but a new mexico collegian, guys like Hearne make it easier to transition(especially knowing he's from dallas too!)

  • Beautiful. Makes me homesick (for Texas, not New Mexico).
