hi, i just wanted to say that your video has given me so much peace, i mean, you are so brave. Its frustrating to have this but i really like your positive energy :) you are right, we can be the same person no mather what bumps in the road we might find sooner or later
I'm at university doing Neuroscience doing my dissertation on retinitis pigmentosa and optogenetics. There is work being done which could recover your vision and i'm hopeful that in the coming years we could make a breakthrough. If you're interested in reading more about what's being done I could send you a PDF?
i've discovered i had RP since i was 9 , and i'm 19 now.. so far i don't have any problem, except it's really hard to see in the dark, especially night , it's so frustrating to know that i'll go blind by 40. Damn
I to have RP I was diagnosed when I was 15,At that time I was just learning how to drive, was on the high school football team(all first team,of course)Well anyways,I didn't feel at that time it was a big deal.I knew my eyesight wasn't perfect but figured"What the heck"and moved on like nothing was wrong.I'm now 32yrs old my vision is a lot worse,I'm still driving but only during the day, can no longer throw a baseball around with my son who is only 8yrs. start coping now, so your happier later.
do you know what your field of vision is in degrees? and do you notice the symptoms very well? if you have it then someone else in your family has to. my family has been fighting it since 1797.
@GollyGeeSandy Yeah that can happen. A lot of us are "lucky" to have it. I'm supposed to have it, but i don't notice any of the symptoms....how about you? how well can you see?
stay strong..i dont have rp...but have a distant relative who does...but i do have another eye condition called anterior Uveitis..been dealing with it the last 4 years....
Hey, i found out that i had rp in April. good to see that other people coping with it aswell! just taking one day at a time, and enjoy life you know :)
@MrPlink0 That's the best, and pretty much only thing you can do. I'm glad to see you have a positive outlook as well. Keep your head up, and best of luck to you!
I also have RP and i have some floaters and lines that are in my vision but i also keep myself up beat. I take my vitamin A tablets daily and pray that i continue to be blessed with sight, I am 22
I have RP too., and it's really cool to hear from someone like you. I also believe that things happen for a reason....even though it gets hard for me to remember sometimes. Just wanted to say thanks for making the video, and keep your head up. God bless.
hi, i have rp and does anyone know of any cases when the person's sight stays the same or doesn't get that bad? maybe if in their teens their sight stays the same, it's just because i'm 13 and i was just wondering because i've never noticed any changes in my sight.
I also have RP, how did they diagnose it? And have you noticed much vision loss-change in your life? I know how you feel about keeping upbeat when you know the out come.

@DrNTropy808 No one else in my family has it. Both of my parents carried the gene and I was lucky enough to get it.
