  • Yeah, mine broke too. I wish someone would make a video of it, I have the basic idea (desolder the sides and resolder it on), but I'd rather watch a video with someone demonstrating how to do it first before attempting it myself personally.

    BTW, it's called a P6 connector.

  • what a nightmare. the smallest ribbon connector snapped so i cant replace the screen now. just buy a new ds unless you have the fingers of an 8 year old girl and the patience of a saint!

  • @preecejon Buy a DS Touch screen clip?I did

  • @Over9000Parody 1)is that the smallest clip? 2)how do you attach it?

  • @preecejon It is the smallest,And Thats the reason I was watching this,to see how to attach it

  • @Over9000Parody but they dont show that in this vid do they!?

  • @preecejon No,But I was watching it to see if they did.

  • wut about a DSIXL?

  • THIS GUYS VOICE IS SO FUCKING ANNOYING

  • ugh, my DS turned on for like two seconds until i let go of the battery by accident. now it won't turn on.

  • @Kwongster94 i think i may have the same situation as you i just tested the battery and the old on is working strong so i think i may have shortted my mother board

  • @Kwongster94 wow that must be frusturating. I would put mine all the way back together the I would put tha battry backin to test it.

but if it formats your memory I would just send the flipping DS lite to nentendo cuz they can transfer your data and take apart the DS or 3DS or DSI or DSIXL or what ever your sending in. lol im talking about a DSIXL XD cuz thats wut i hav lawl.

  • thanks. but mine was a bit different to yours? u made this look easy when really it was not 4 me. slot 2 was like glued in . one of the screws under the rubber bit was knackared and i had to get it out with a hair clip took me over an hour, plus i never had springs on my L and R buttons, and it took me 20 mins to feed that cable back under game slot, then i finished up missing a screw for the batt cover. but i got a screw from some where else so no matter. i done it and it works!

  • thank you so much! you have helped me save my brother's LOZ DS Lite!

  • Thanks for this guide. Exelent!

  • top screen is fuzzy and touch screen does not work, HELP ME!!!!!!

  • TUmbs UP if he is A GREAT instructor on REPAIR

  • TNKS DUDE

  • Very good tutorial. I was a little unclear on how to unclip the mother board but it involves flipping the black bit up. Once I got the hang of it putting it back together was fine and I'm a girl with near zero electronics background :D

  • I really want to do this to fix my DS, but I am scared as hell that I will break it and mess up. O_O

  • great videos!! thanks!!

  • Where to get the rubber feet in black for a ds... Does anyone know?

  • Thank you, I successfully replaced my screen with the help of this video. It's the best of it's kind on youtube.

  • I got a question - my touch screen works fine, except for the upper right part, when the dot (at calibration) is a little bit to the right of where I point. What do I have to do to make it work? Do I have to take off the screen, take it in two and clean it? Do you think it'll work? Have you seen anything like it? And also - is the screen nonprecise on edges (left & right)

  • Thanks for all your help, I've been using your videos for a couple of procedures now; very informative and thorough. Thanks!

  • Followed your instructional videos (1 & 2) and it worked great! Thanks very much!

  • Please help me im in panic!! my white wire the topbutton snapped off, will my whole ds need to be replaced, idk what thhe so called "white wire" is for!! please help me!

  • @tinacdemiris im pretty sure its the mic

  • My a button wont respond....what did i do wrong..

  • ok, my ds broke at the hinge on the right side of the ds (not where the wires go up to the screen). do I need to somehow replace the entire top, or is there a piece i can put in. the part that broke was the part attatched to the top part.

  • Thanks i fixed my cracked touch screen

  • im having trouble with the screen for some reason it wont work (the replacement) could you tell me whats wrong

  • this was a great vid and i really never thought about rebuilding any DS. But i was wondering where is a good place to buy all the separate parts for cheap ?

  • Awesome Vid. I am thinking of doing some Nintendo DS maintenance to earn some pocket money and this helped BIG TIME.

  • Thank you so much! My DS touch screen has not been working for over six months, and I was really thinking of sending it in to be fixed, when thought of fixing it myself. I wouldn't have been able to fix it without the video.

  • Thanks for the help guys, screen is scratch free and works awesomely!

  • does it work the same thing with a dsi xl

  • Hi

I have replaced my ds lite casing but now my bottom touch screen is unresponsive to the touch but works ok with the buttons. Can you give me any ideas as to what I may have done wrong.

    Many thanks

  • @vmpenny73 did you get this fixed? I started by changing the case on my sons ds and ripped the ribbon on the top screen now I have the same problem as you the touch screen is un responsive. I have 2 ds's that Im trying to make one good one out of it seems weird that neither of the touch isnt responding when they both did before I started tampering. if you fixed yours what did you do? I thought maybe I wasnt putting the tiny ribon cable in properly but Ive tried heaps of times

  • hi, nice detail vid .. but before i do this i have a question to ask, my touch screen seems does not calibrate properly.. lets say i go pictochat and press "y" it goes "u" so do i rly need to chg the touchscreen or i jz open it up and cleen the dust? Thanks

  • Danke schön, das Video hat mir sehr geholfen.... :-)

  • I am so pleased. The instructions are so clear. I changed a touch screen in 30mins. Results are excellent. Thanks a lot

  • hey wat song is that

  • Hi great thanks this saved me a bit of money. It all worked first time!! So long as you listen CAREFULLY and follow instruction you will be fine!!

  • Hi, I have followed your instructions to replace a broken touchscreen, but now that it is all together it won't turn on. When I turn the power on it flickers then turn off. Any ideas what would cause this?

  • @fuloosi you probably didnt insert the ribbon cable properly.happened to me when i tried to get my ds fixed.

  • @fuloosi you probably didnt insert the ribbon cable properly.happened to me when i tried to get my ds fixed.so go back to pt 1

  • hello, I tipped alcohol in my nintendo DS Lite, in the touch screen and it isn't working, I think the alcohool surpassed the screen('cause when I press it, I can see the alcohol inside it). Do you think the alcohol will spoil the screen forever? Or I just need to open the DS and dry it?

  • Excellent videos. I used your set on how to replace a NDSL shell, to help me replace my old case with the broken hinge, and then I used this one to help me replace the touch screen I b0rked when I replaced the shell. The cost of doing both those repairs was roughly $25, including shipping, for the parts I used. Quite a nice savings, when you consider the cost of sending it to someone to repair.

Though, where's the last part for the NDSL shell replacement videos?

  • hey i dropped my ds lite and the l and r buttons wont work the screen is like if u push in a spot it shows up like a little to the left and half the screen wont work and when its on the half will go darker and darker until u cant see this is all touch screen and when i close and open the ds it comes back i need help

  • Help I broke my daughters DSI I need help its all in pieces. I need help.

  • I Have a Problem. My nintendo ds touch screen has a problem, it doesn't have the colors like it used to have because I steped on . Know what I'm sayin' Can anyone help plz !

  • ???? my ds wont turn on i need mega help, ive but everything back and no it wont turn on :S help

  • @peelyben watch bthe first part and i think your problem is solved ^^

  • Thanks a lot! My son's NDSL is working fine again!

The color change in cabinet did not matter the step by step order. But I missed instructions about removing and reinstalling the black frame that cover the green border of the touch screen. Maybe my poor english got in the way. I'd like to ask you to add text instructions (subtitle) about it, in order to ease foreign viewers like me.

  • the best video i've seen for ds lite repair, thanks a lot

  • this was an extremely helpful video. you make that black wire part look soooo easy!

  • Great video! works great i was able to go right along with the vid and only had to pause a few times TY so much!

  • After installing the replacement screen I quickly found out that it doesn't work very well. It is not as responsive as the original nintendo screen on my other DS which always responds to touch instantly and with 100% result every time. This new screen I got on ebay is a hit or miss every time I touch it, especially at certain areas. I am wondering if this is due to improper installation or a crappy, cheap asian part? Pretty sure I did everything properly...

  • no warranty sticker or thing voiding it

if somethings wrong check your ribbons make sure their nice and tight against then click it in (try not to bend them you'll break the connections )

  • @AMatte18 All the ribbons are bent thats the point of ribbons, flexibility. dont you mean fold?

  • Hey man, thanks a lot!

I was able to replace my touch screen module with this tutorial.

Very well explained, just need to pause and rewind that everything will be ok!

    Thanks a lot!

  • This is THE best video to help repair the DS. You speak clearly and the video shows exactly what you are supposed to do and you don't speed through the repair. Good work! Thanks so much.

  • Yes an excellent vid that showed me how to go through fixing my screen, well chuffed...well until i found that upon taking the surround off'f the old screen that there was a screen protector an it was that that was damaged not my screen lol

  • how do you fix the coneters from the top screen to the bottom screen because it is barley holding on and i can play my ds games but they are really strange colores happing can you help

  • ....simply the best! thank you so much

  • I had to replace my cracked-at-the-hinge DSL case a while ago and what the instructions failed to mention was that if I removed the adhesive border on the touch screen it would totally ruin the touch screen itself (the sensitivity is now completely random and jumps all over the screen). Luckily replacement touch screens are dirt cheap so I'll have good use of these vids real soon, thanks.

  • Very professional. Thank you!

  • Simply professional.

  • CRITICAL NOTE! EVERYONE READ!!!!@!@!@

please add this to description!!! (great video btw!)

there must be insulation tape on back of screen to prevent metal to metal contact. if there is not, YOU WILL BLOW A FUSE, CAUSING ORANGE FLASH PROBLEM. I did this myself, forgot to check as a new screen i purchased did not have insulation tape on it.

    SEE NEXT COMMENT!

  • @Emovash On the actual screen, but not the touch module. Correct?

  • HELP!

I did something stupid, the instructions are great, I messed up a delicate part. I snapped the little black part that holds the touch screen cable in place. I can get the cable under the little prongs, but the touch screen will not activate, any ideas?

    Steve

  • I did the same.. any ideas?

  • did you ever figure out how to fix this cause i did the same thing

  • you have to remove almos all the things around the cable, but very carefuly, it happened to me too ,

  • how much does a new touchscreen cost?

  • About £3 on ebay

  • any where from 3$ to 20$ ebay is probably the best place to buy one

  • excellent video, had to do it twice cuz one of my ribbons wasn't pused in right. the original screen had a water like mark so by watching this video I was able to fix it. Thanks a lot.

  • There's no power button and theres a gba slot

  • id say one of your ribbons is not pushed in right

  • i broke my first ds lite there is black almost all black on the bottom screen

  • Yes, this fix scratched or "divotted" bottom screens.

  • My DS is all white on BOTH screen. Do you think that replacing them would work. The game comes on and everything.

  • my ds touch screen is sorta scratched but the scratches are like divots.(i used pen w/ no ink and pressed to hard)woops.will this work?

  • what if the bottom screen is white can u make a video to fix that problem plz

  • hey, i was wondering if you ever got to fix your ds, cause i have the same problem, if fell on and it got all white. now i'm wondering how to fix it. thanx =D.

  • What if the DS touch screen has a hole in it?

  • Just 2 points, before you stick the touch screen and lcd screen together, make sure it is clear of dust/debris or you'll be stuck with it (use compressed air and blow it out). Also, be mindful of the black wire placement. IF your case seems like it won't shut completely in the corner, it's probably the black wire. You have to make sure it goes around the battery compartment. Look at the underside of the casing and you'll see the path it should take.

  • I messed up the black sticky adhesive. Can anyone help or am I screwed?

  • Mine got mangled up too, and lost its stickiness. I tried using it even though it wasn't sticking very well and it was near impossible to prevent the bottom screen from getting crooked. I just bought some double-sided scotch tape and layered three pieces on top of each other to make it thicker and cut it to the desired length. After placing tape on all four sides, I used an exacto knife to trim off the overhanging tape and it works like a charm. No more crooked screen!

  • i wish i can send my ds to you to fix it looks so compplicated to put it back together when you were putting the left and right button back and there was a white spring,.... is it suppose to connect to a place in the ds when you were putting the white spring in, cus i didnt catch that in the vid should you attach it to something? so i wasnt sure what

  • thanks it helped a-lot

im sent it to my dad so he can fix mine.

    and again thank u
