They cannot be included into the ASEAN because ASEAN is, Association of South East Asian Nations. China, Japan and Korea are not SouthEast Asian nations but they are East Asian. That is why they cannot be included since ASEAN include only members of the S.E.A. area. I am not sure about Timor Leste and Papau New Guinea if they will join or not. But it seems they might in the future.

And Japan's Prime minister has decided to visit Nanjing in China to appologize what Japanese Army's done in 2nd World War. For exchange, the leader may consider the trip to Hiroshima in Japan. Things are changing in Asia, and it will spread over to the whold world.

First of all, I don't know whether I am expressing a stupid idea but I think that to include those 3 countries will bring about a great of imbalance in our association. Nowadays, I do think that ASEAN can live because of balance within the organisation as no country has preponderant power. Once we include them, they will become major powers in ASEAN and impinge upon many decion-making procedures. In addition to this, we shall have lost our own means of our ASEAN.

I don't want to start a fight here but ASEAN should REALLY participate in the call for democratic change in Myanmar, or should I say Burma, because it is the closest international alliance to the Myanmar authorities, and not only the UN...And I hope that the reason ASEAN agreed to let Myanmar join the association (even though the majority of the Burmese, Aung San Suu Kyi and the International community disagreed of it) for unity in SEA, & not for the reason that they can get a piece out of it.
