The fact is that if they would not be able to produce their products as cheaply as they do, no one could afford to buy their products. Hence, manufacturers would go out of work.

I think you'll find that the wages in China are now much higher than $1 a day, nearer $5, and the wages in firework labour are higher than most jobs due to the increased risk.

The worst area for fireworks manufacture and child forced labour is India.

All industries that need a high degree of manual labour, such as fireworks, cheap novelty consumer electronics and souvenirs will always be driven to the country with the lowest wage cost. India is next inline, then Africa once the infrastruture is developed (China are already building roads in Africa).

This is not to say dont buy fireworks, buy from companies like Kimbolton in the UK, who produce most of their products in England, and any American brands that do not just import.

Fireworks aren't made by machines because metal machinery could produce sparks. $1 a day is pretty much average compared to other 3rd world countries (I think).
