Watched it at the ficks with my Mum when I was 12 - didn't know my own Mum was dying of ovarian cancer and just thought she was being girlie when she started sobbing. She died at 36 and I was 14. That cinema trip haunts me to this day.

I just recently ordered this movie on the web and I should be receiving it any day now. My fiance is gonna watch it with me. I'm 45 and the last time I saw it I was about 11. I told her it is one of the saddest movies I ever saw.

The book is heartbreaking, she puts her journal in it, one last post...and she's gone, just like that. She died on my bday Nov 10. RIP Kate.

I remember thinking how much this movie captured the feeling of that time better than most movies that were televised. It didn't criticize the characters for their alternative lifestyle...which was way cool. The book was very touching.

I read the book, "Sunshine" in 1974, at age 13... I was the typical guy, who wouldn't normally read a book, but I read the whole book in 2 days... Never before or since, have I gotten so caught up in a story... It was that special... By the way, 15 years later, I began writing & have since written 6 books & published 4... And I know that it all began with Kate's beautiful story, "Sunshine". -- If you've never read it, do so!! You can still buy out of print copies on Amazon.
