  • could someone please answer my question? Does a primary structure evolve to a secondary, secondary evolve to tertiairy, etc...?? Or are these just seperate structures, "levels" a protein can have.

  • @K17K1 They don't evolve. I guess you could call them levels. They could all happen (definitely at least from primary to tertiary), but they get from basic to complex.

  • Are these seperate levels? Or does the primary turn into secondary to tertiary to quaternary?

    *confused*

  • This my friends is REAL protein.

  • Goddamn ...people really get offensive and start arguing so quick on youtube ... chill ... I`ll probably get some shit now for my english :P

  • Thank you. This is something that was explained poorly in my book, but only 52 seconds were needed to make it clear to me.

  • Amazing. This is an informative and comprehensive video clip. Kudos.

  • This helped me soooooooo much, it explained it way better than the book did.

  • primary - individual amino acids

secondary - sequence of amino acids (linear)

tertiary - the 3-d formation of amino acid chains once they have formed their shape/folded, e.g. the active site of an enzyme is seen in the tertiary structure.

quaternary - the interactions of one amino acid chain to others in the vicinity.

  • Fake and gay!

  • Teacher: "What is the definition of a protein?'

Student: "A protein is something that is made up of mean old acids."

  • This shows very nice video...

  • This explained to me in less than a minute than my mcat book in a whole freaking chapter.

  • omg so helpful thanks heaps koz i have exam and couldn't afford to go through reading my textbook

  • @noosha7sm 52 second video instead of reading the textbook? win

  • dont forget about van der waals force

  • OMFG this is soo helpful THXX.. a Billion times.

  • thank you thats all i have time to say exam nearing

  • Watching these videos, makes it pretty clear, basically rebukes the outlandish thought, of every atom in our body being the result of exploding stars or that we are the result of that very first mud puddle...from nothing. To believe in evolution, especially after watching these videos, is like asking a demolitionist to be accountable for every dust particle from every job he/she does; ludicrous! Don't be deceived. God is very real. FREE eBook at (you are worth it dot com)

  • @kevinmelvillesimpson your a complete idiot

you believe this science but not evolution

in essence we eat muscle we gain muscle we wet fat we gain fat the same as every other animal in this world

  • @johnosandra - The world will have to forgive me of this, unusual rebuke by me, however, first, you need to learn your English prior to opening your mouth and jumping all over someone probably 30+ years older than you and with same or more years of study and research behind them. If you want to call me a complete idiot, it's 'you're' a complete idiot, not 'your.' So whose the dumb one? And yes I believe science because science refutes evolution & supports scripture - nothing of exploding stars.

  • @johnosandra - ps...Good luck with your classes! pps...And FYI, there is not a tool available to man to measure the dates/times evolutionists claim (million and/or billions of years), not to mention, not one piece of evidence in a glass case anywhere, claimed by biased sources to be millions or billions of years old, is NOT emitting carbon gases. Now if you do your research into the Law of Thermodynamics, you will quickly discover that their guessing games of age does not & cannot add up.

  • @kevinmelvillesimpson sorry freak theres a thing called adaptation hence im right science is right your wrong and dumb

    freak

  • @johnosandra - It's 'you're' not your...again! First, I see you have graduated me from a complete idiot to a freak and being dumb, which clearly shows your age and maturity. And secondly, lol, you have been watching too much television and late night movies; adaptation, wow, you really are being bamboozled. Start thinking and reasoning for yourself, instead of falling for something that doesn't have on piece of evidence to support its case...other than biased evolutionists passing on the same.

  • @kevinmelvillesimpson y the hell do u keep correcting his/her spelling, it doesnt matter as long we're not in skl and act like an adult u seem dumb RLY dumb. and dont correct any of my spellings dont act like u knw everything bout English when u dont even beleive in Evolution.

  • @kevinmelvillesimpson and Evolution does have evidences scientist dont just tell it happens unless theres something to support it like fossils !

  • @johnosandra - It's a toss up who changes their story most often, the evolutionists or the Muslims. All great people, with great minds, but for some unknown reason, neither can read the writing on the wall...baffling really! Both, offering the world nothing more than farraginous babbling with nothing to support their case, where 1+1 = anything but 2. Good night young man. PS...remember it's 'you're' not your.

  • @kevinmelvillesimpson People who loose an argument change the subject to insult about grammar like your or you're. That doesn't make anyone dumb, stupid fuck.

  • @RichtoffenRoach - As I have mentioned in articles many times, if this is what we see and hear now from our future leaders, we have much to fear; pull up your socks young man and get a grip.

  • @kevinmelvillesimpson You again? Get the fuck out!

  • @RichtoffenRoach - Yes oh mature one...of course I will...lol. It's a toss up between you and johnosandra who is the sharpest with the vocabulary; you may have him beat. To your success Rich...down boy, down.

  • @kevinmelvillesimpson Look guy. I don't know what's with the superiority-complex but you are a pathetic fool. Got nothing better to do, bastard? Supreme mATURE, "KNOW IT ALL" stranger, stop bothering people and spreading your lack of maturity and intellect on proteins and molecules video like you did on a lecture about organic molecules before, remember? You are a waste, good luck, pathetic fool....lol

  • @RichtoffenRoach - Actually Rich, as a life coach, who works mostly with young adults and late teens, I must confess I am simply baffled at your insecurity; via the language and attack methods you use...a definite demonstration of one who, deep down, does not like the person who is looking back at themselves in the mirror. Hint! Drop the childish insults and name calling, focus on what you can be and not on what you think you may be missing or simply change courses; it really is OK to do so.

  • @kevinmelvillesimpson Thank you for the lecture! Now stop bothering me. P.S. You still do not grasp the wrong you're doing

  • @RichtoffenRoach - It was you young man, who began bothering me, adding your two cents worth, arrogantly and vulgarly commenting on what was not your business to begin with. My thoughts and opinion initially had absolutely nothing to do with you, nor was it your business; now, who is really in the wrong here? Now you can learn from my lecture, seeing it was none of your business in the first place or continue on the path you are on and live by excuses rest of your life. PS...you are forgiven!

  • @kevinmelvillesimpson Yeah you're right and also it isn't your business my life. You know nothing of me to be talking that way about my life and I do not live W/ excuses. I see that you are the arrogant who believe he's superior than others, better educated and most respectful man. You are wrong and have some kind of issues. Go get help and don't reply me. I'm done with you. "Respect if you want respect"

  • 5 people are stressed about the memorization of Protein Stucture :)

  • sooo fast

  • we need more

  • You see, this is why I hate science in general LOL! But you've made this easier for me to understand so thank you so much!

  • isnt there a simpler way to explain this.... i honestly don't understand it..=(

  • thank you!

  • So much easier to understand! Thanks :D

  • very nice .. short, to the point and most important of all correct info

  • biology is hard lol

  • O my God, It only takes less than 1 minute to understand this complex thing. Thank u sooo mucchhhh.... =D

  • dude this video saved my ass for biology, i love you, please marry me and have my babies

  • peptide bond prevailing for the primary

    hydrogen bond for the secondary

    hydrophobic interaction for the tertiary

thermodynamic considerations prevail for the quaternary

  • good stuff

  • life saver, totally agree =)

  • thnx life saver, the bio textbook is so stupid comparitively

  • Wonderful. I'm going to be a nutritionist when I come of age and this is good to know.

  • Could anyone direct me to a website where i can learn the basics of biology?

  • @danielkirk1

Sure, I can direct you- Oh no! It's happing again! Ugh ugh ah AHh AHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!

  • What the hell are you on about? And by the way, i'm fine now and got everything i need to study. Some people should stop trying to be funny, and actually spend some thought, and be helpful. I bet your a dropout.

  • I'm a drop out when you can't capitalize your "i" correctly? Sure.........

  • No you're a dropout when you bring up weak little grammar errors and ignore the issue. Be quiet you little smart ass...

  • Sure, keep telling yourself that. Haha.

  • I can't, and I couldn't find anything like what you're looking for... there just isn't an interest out there in such at thing, not in our era of putting walls up around information. So, try this; think of the very first question you have about biology (don't be tempted to instead try to find what is at the beginning of text books). For me, it was DNA - I wanted to know, what is DNA, anyway? I went on an investigation and have picked up many things along the way. Ask your own questions.

  • Thank you for looking for resources. I'm interested mainly in exploreing what's in a element, and how they react. I know that's more of the chemistry side, but i think it's amazing on how many properties are in our dna, and other elements too. Thank you for helping.

  • @danielkirk1 Sure. You remind me, I was just reading about Freidrich Miescher (can never remember how to spell it) discovering DNA, and it's amazing how sophisticated their understanding of chemistry was already, I mean, he was using chem. lab procedures to analyze just what the cellular stuff was made of, and he found, for example, the element phosphorus... I mean, what do you do with your slime to be able to say, "yup, there's phosphorus there, and carbon, and nitrogen, and hydrogen..."?

  • cool..thx!!

  • i luv how the film is straight forward.

  • Very simple film, an excellent start for visualisation.

  • Tertiary structures result from interactions between R groups of the different amino acids.H bonding, electrostatic attractions, van der waals and hydrophobis interactions all determine the shape of the tertiary structures.

  • simple but excellent!!! <3

     Thanks a lot!!!!

  • phew!at last i get it!

    Thaks! :)

  • Thanks! Been trying to get this for months!!!

  • RONALDO

  • do you know if I can use this video for a presentation at school?

  • You should check out an amazing video by Raw vegan super athlete Tim Van Orden titled

    PROTEIN MYTH

Most of what we've been taught about Protein is pure bullshit and Lies, Time to learn the Truth

  • omg! I love you!! I have been trying to understand this for ages but I just couldn't picture the structures in my head so you have solved the problem for me, thank you so much for posting this!

  • what's the difference between the primary and secondary structure ?

  • primary: sequence of amino acids in a polypeptide dictated by info in DNA.

secondary: arrangement of nearby amino acids in a polypeptide chain into a coil or pleated structure that forms b/c of hydrogen bonding. A polypeptide chain can have regions that are arranged as helices, and others that are arranged as sheets.

    Hope that helped!!

  • ok thanks !

  • gotta watch this for school assignment. not to fond of these kind of videos. mostly because it's usually the same thing every time. i need a little more varaiety.

  • hmmm helpful but lacks explaination on bond types

  • indeed

  • Best Team Folding4Ever - 110397

  • what type of bonds are present in the tertiary structure, in the interactions in the side chains?

  • the tertiary structure can be classified into 2 groups:

    1. fibrous proteins strong, insoluble in water eg. collagen, silk, keratin (main component in hair)

    2. globular proteins spherical shape, hydrophobic grp on the inside, hydrophilic grp on the outside, soluble in water. eg. enzymes, antibodies, hormones

    The shape is maintained by-

    1. ionic bonds

    2. hydrogen bonds

    3. disulphide bonds

    4. hydrophobic interactions

  • @wendy2001217 i love you

  • that was helpful

  • too short

  • excellent video!!
