Anne was definitely a powerhouse in England, and gave the country one of it's greatest and longest lasting rulers, Elizabeth. But Catherine of Aragon was Henry's true wife and love. Things would have been a lot different if her son Henry hadn't died. Honestly, I love all of Henry's queens, but Catherine was the only one who was a true queen.
@981anka...you are very much mistaken. Jane Seymour knew full well what was going to happen to Anne Boleyn the moment she won Henry's favor. She was anything but innocent. She is as guilty as Anne of being ambitious and wanting to procure success for herself and her family. She may have done it in a more discreet fashion than the flamboyant and strong Anne Boleyn, but she did it the same nonetheless...
I believe had there really be no pressure for a male heir he would have never hated Anne. He would have kept her. If only there was no pressure for a son. May Queen Anne rest on peace
Only one real WIFE and partner( in everything) is Anne the the rest are all humble servants of king. But there are some fine queens there untile Elizabeth comes!
@scarllet86 Not really, I give you that Jane was obident - but Katherine? Really? She must most definatly his "wife and partner" especially in the earlier years of their marriage in which she had huge political influence.
Does anyone else find it in the lest bit amusing that Henry killed the Mother of the future Queen Elizabeth because wanted a son. But his child By Queen Anne is the one who rule longer then Henry VIII himself. I think its funny.
@TheGrandDuchess You have a point. But I think it's more ironic than funny. Innocent people - Smeaton, Weston, Brereton, Rochford - Anne herself - & their families - REAL people who ACTUALLY existed - suffered terribly & died in pain & humiliation. That isn't funny, it's horrific. Good clip though - a nice piece of work.
Elizabeth I was the first female heroine who, when I read about her as a child, made me feel OK about having been born a girl & not the boy that my own parents wanted.
@RoonJazz I didn't mean funny as in Haha, more like funny he killed the one person who could have given him the son he long for that lived longer then 16 yrs, does that make sense.
Anne was my favorite Queen followed by her daughter.
P.S. You should never feel not want simple because you were a girl, my parents weren't even suppose to have kids, I was first followed, two yrs later by my little brother, my dad always made sure I knew I was wanted no matter what my sex was.
I put Jane Seymour in the first really epic note of the score, because Henry did think of her foremost as the mother of his only son and heir, and thus, his "true love".
