Has nobody told you you don't need to fill the image in? I see you rubbing the embossing tool into the open areas of the stencil when all you need to do is go around the edges. All you are doing, by filling it in, is wasting time and energy.
Dawn, oh my goodness, I've tried endlessly looking for tutorials and yours was amazing. I've tried for hours just using my classy brass dots template with cardstock UNDERNEATH the template and rolling each little ball through every dot and get barely any impression.... i see your video, flip my cardstock over on top of the template, and i'm done all my embossing in a minute... you are a LIFESAVER... my christmas cards are going to look GREAT this year!!
Can also use a small plastic sweater box or the like with a light placed underneath, just be careful about overheating if it is not a florescent. If you do a lot of embossing, a piece of plexiglass or clear cutting board might be a good investment. You can stack a few books to the height you need and set the plexiglass on top like a mini table. Love your videos, Dawn. Could you add a close up of your finished projects at the end???
u really got lost of punches i notice... i hardly have 5... my god.... but i do have a slice that i just bought... can u do a tutorial projects for slice users? thanks... love ur projects
you are the most annoying person dawn! and your voice oh dont even let me get started! i dont care if everyone spams me or whateva but you are ANNOYING!!! CYA BYE!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!
One word...Cuttlebug!!! If you love dry embossing, you should get a Cuttlebug...I can even use brass templates in my Cuttlebug! It's so much easier & quicker and you don't have to worry about a lightbox. And it's really compact, so I even take mine to crops! I have a video using it in my gallery. Check it out! :)
Use a sliding glass door during the day. The sun and the door (or a strong window) make an excellent and free substitute. You just might tire out from working vertically, though.
@ktargett you can create a makeshift light table by taking a small bar light florescent or a few flashlights and placing them under your coffee table. Then you turn them on/off and work directly on your table. All you need is a piece of glass balanced on a sturdy surface with a light under it.
@ktargett 2nd com about light table on a sunny day in a dark room you can use a STABLE window. don't use it if the glass has been damaged or is flimsy/wobbles
Will embossing work on canvas? Thanks.

Do you reckon this would for for mimicing Braille?
kiddkaos1 2 years ago
@kiddkaos1 Braille is a language that was created by encoding the english alphabet into a series of embossed bumps. It could certainly be used.

Dawn,
I'm stamping on a budget. I can't afford the light table. Is there a substitution I could use?
