The absolute epitome of everything a muscle car wishes it could be, coupled with the elegant and simplistic "brute force" design, with a dash of rarity thrown into the mix.
I was a young kid when the concept was unveiled, and when the first cars went into production from SHEAR DEMAND for the car, based on the concept.
I have ALWAYS loved the first gen snakes... and one day, I WILL HAVE ONE!
Great run btw! Was your butt puckered a bit, praying not to accidentally dump that clutch too hard? :)
Thanks! Yea it was a fun pass but I actually slipped the clutch REALLY BAD so I wouldn't dump the clutch and mess up my run. I traded this car in and bought a 98' GTS. It's alot better! :)
I don't know if it's just me but I love those targa tops! Sure it wasn't fully convertible but damn was it ever fitting for this car. My only regret is that these cars were very expensive, I'm going to go out on my opinion (not fact) but I think the car would've been a lot more affordable had the base viper had a v8, I'm not a big Chrysler guy but I think the 318 still lurked around during those years. But hey that's not to say that the mighty 8.0L v8 couldn't be an option :P
Please reply. I know it may sound like a dumb question. But how do you open the doors of a viper rt, without sticking your hands through the window and opening it from inside? At first I thought you had to stick your hands through the window to open it, then i saw some old rt's with glass windows that you probably couldn't fit a hand through, so can you get in a viper rt 10 without sticking your hand through the window?
@000eMan000 ....somewhere around 96...but maybe 98, they put electric windows in, as well as exterior electric actuated door latches. The same latch is on the Viper GTS. It's a tiny little knob with a button on the outside, in the black area of the door...

alot of people mix up the viper not being able to take corners with the average person not being able to make them go around corners correctly. plain and simple the viper handles, yet with that much torque down low, its easy to get too eager with the throttle and lose control, ergo "bad handling"
i have a 94 viper . and its a lot of fun.. 450 horses ready to be use.. 13 inch wide tires. and still burns ruber when you drop second gear at over 50 miles/h. japanies car are like their owners.. little dicks . little engines.. lol.. i use to have a corvette ls1 engine.. is was fun too, but the viper is something else.. if u want to make a car with superchargers and turbos.. thats for pussies.. nitro too.. raw engines.. thats what i like..

Fucking slow piece of shit! German and Japs rule when it comes to POWER and Handeling! A standard Nissan GT-R with MUCH smaller engine then this bag of bollocks is way way faster! Even an Audi RS4 would be faster! or a standard 2ltr EVO 8 FQ400 (405bhp as standard) will be faster then this by far! No point having BIG engines when you can't pump sufficient power out of it. If I wanted a Big engined car. Corvette Z06 or ZR1 will be the one for me :-) :-)

Can it take corners? NOOO
Such a big ass engine and it produces the same power as a 2 ltr turbo Jap car. What bogus is that? Top Gear don't like Americans and there is a reason behind it. Alot of people prefer Germans and Japs when it comes to performance, infact when it comes to ANYTHING they tend to go for Germans and Japs...
i like how ignorant fucks always look at horsepower, SUMSGTR, what you SHOULD look at is the entire hp sheet, look at how much more torque this car makes and at such a broader rpm range, this car can make less hp, but you get the hp rating through allot more of the rpm range .....just because a car makes more power doesn't mean shit if you only get it at 8,000 rpm i hope you were intelligent enough to keep up there pup
LT1berad!! You get em bro!! Dodge-Viper owns jap cars by far.. even if you could tune a crap honda civic to out run the viper.. I'd prefer viper over honda any day!! Viper=badass Honda=badass with only the drivers who respect Vipers in it.
The Viper was pretty stock on this run. I had K&N cone Filters, no cats, Dynomax mufflers and bypassed the AC pulley with a shorter belt, thats all! I also had a short throw shifter though. The problem was the STRONG headwind and the crappy tires. I was REALLY supprised I cut a 1.80 - 60' with those bald tires, but I think it's because I did a small little second burnout to make sure the tires had maximim traction. I also rode the clutch out pretty hard, minimizing wheel spin out of the hole.
The car came without cats. Not sure of the type of Dynomax mufflers, but I think it's the only ones available for Vipers. The intake I got from another Viper guy. The filters are K&N.... so I assume it's a K&N setup.
good run, launch and cool lookin viper. I don't understand why all of the know it all 19 to 23 year old kids want to bitch and rag everybody's shit on here. They can all suck a dick... and probably do. lol Makes you wonder what they drive. ha ha
The viper is the only real good thing to come from dodge since the early seventies so its hard for me tgo rag on it. The vipers are cool looking cars up close but at a distance a lot of them look like big versions of the avenger which was a sorry excuse for a sports car. I for that era I would have picked the trans am for looks and the torque. Be prepared to see some new interesting stuff though I work at a crysler/dodge plant.
Funny... you know nothing about Vipers. 50/50 weight ratio and constantly win on the road course. Do some research before commenting. Vipers put a G on the corners... Amazing cars.

Yes, stock Gen I Vipers averaged high 12's. However, I'm not new to drag racing and driving experience makes a difference with ET's. I do have a few mods, like K&N cone filters and exhaust, which gave my 5 rear wheel HP and 5 TQ on the dyno. Many stock Gen II's have hit high 11's, BONE STOCK, untoutched. I don't keep up with the Gen III world too much, but hear they are hitting 11's BONE stock too.
No, actually it was a great launch on those tires! Bald street tires... Now if they were slicks, that would be a bad launch, but you can't dump a clutch on street tires like I had on. You will accomplish nothing out of the hole. The goal is to get out of the hole with ZERO tire spin and roll into the throttle!
The bike and I were not racing... Obviously you don't know anything about a drag strip. This was a "Test & Tune" time, so yes, I could have been lined up next to a funny car and got beat. Your comment is irrelevant. I think your user name justifies your comments though. Thank you.... please drive through.
I'm not touchy at all my friend.... Just trying to educate you, so you think next time before you reply with such stupid comments stained with poor grammer and punctuation.
You don't do massive burnouts with street tires. Any drag racer knows that... You just spin street tires to get the water and pebbles off. Had they been slicks, a real burnout would have been necessary. Also I already spun the tires once but reversed the car back to do it again, so the video diesn't show the first burnout. You guys need to learn there is a big difference in running slicks and street tires at the drag strip.
Awesome! the operative word here is CAN. And, you are starting with an $80,000 car. any idea what you could do with the extra cash, say, if i bought a $30,000 350z? ...ill catch your viper in my z :)
Show me a Viper from 1994 that still costs $80,000; even low mileage examples have depreciated down to the $30's-$40k's. Last time I was in a Nissan dealer they were asking right around $40k for a Z......So for around the same price of a new Z you can get a decent condition used Viper that will walk all over the 350....(im neutral because i love the Z too...just trying to make a point though)
