Wow, I was 7 at the time and remember some of the commercials during that time and as a NYer, I remember Ernie Anastos and Roz Abrams together doing Eyewitness News. Man those were the days!
I was in Colorado visiting family when these commercials aired on NY metro-area TV (I'm a New Jerseyan). I do remember the Statue's centennial year, and it was a big "to-do" at the time. I seem to recall Coca-Cola putting out drinking glasses that had the Statue's imprint on it with a commemoration of the centennial year.
@rfschober I recall Liberty Weekend was a big "to do" in my school. During the '85-'86 school year we were selling chocolate in the shape of the Statue of Liberty. Also, as homework each of us had to memorize the whole "Give me you tired, your poor..." speech and recite it in front of the class!
I would love it if you made the Texaco spot separate from this block. It has a lot of things people need to understand about this country that are not expressed anymore today. God bless Ronald Reagan!
well the w.t.c. made it into the 21 st. century..... and costanza sold lipton.. i can see the future,,...

The man in the Chrysler commercial is William Devane (who played on "Knots Landing").
