In my last video, a much simpler installation method by utilization of ipks instead of sh file installation methods was shown. My last kernel project is a collaboration with Number1Pete called Super PreKernel app which allows the install and uninstall of these frequencies in just one app with just a simple click of a button. Of course, but 720 and 800 MHz frequency options offered to the public are not patches. Technically they are kernel mods. The choice of 550 and 600 MHz lower frequency overclocking LunaSysMgr patches and higher frequency 720&800 MHz kernel mods for both Sprint & Verizon Palm Pre&Palm Pre Plus (GSM and CDMA) versions work equally well for WebOS1.4.0 and WebOS1.4.1.1
Check out my new videos (campbeja001) You Tube stite, it only gets better
I also have a new app collaboration coming out soon that will allow install/uninstall of either 550, 600, 720 or 800 MHz with a single click. This will be freeware available to all...keep tuned
There is a batter kernel ipk install method (see first thread inside infomation section of video for download). When you use this one you will see whY I phased out the other method
800 MHz sh file download replaces with easier ipk download. See my new video with dslundsford on this on my You Tube page (new thread ipk download site located within info section of video)
The temp warning patch tells you a max temp of 45C was reached. I have run mine at 48C for 7.5 h without issue. It is only a guide to protect users. We don't know exactly what temp is unhealthy.
I tried it, and it worked well. Didn't pop up as fast as on vid but def a lot faster. Problem is, today my device started running a lil warm. I install the "device temperature warning patch" which is what let me know it wasn't running at safe levels. So I'm uninstalling as I type. It was a fun run tho, but I really need that extra hour or so of battery life.
We will deploy an easier ipk install/unistall procedure so we will add a third video which will show the huge speed increase of 3D gaming on all types of Palm Pre's
Since the Palm Pre's processor is normally 600 MHz but is underclocked to 500 MHz, can you show a comparison video showing three speeds (500, 600 and 800). I really want to see how much of a difference there is between 600 and 800 and if it's worth cutting down the already low battery life.
i love manipulating hardware. I love getting the full extent for the money paid for these kinds of fones. i have reset my palm device, loaded it with tweaks and personal stuff, fb chat, apps, and now this. i plan on getting the htc evo this summer, so im going to enjoy my final months with my pre :) thanks
best patch ever for the pre. with this speed, it is easily on par with or faster than the nexus one, iphone, droid or whatever. the browser is blazing fast now. everything is butter smooth throughout the os. with this speed, multitasking and 3d games, webos is easily the best smartphone os in the business. thanks guys!!
Installed the 800MHz patch today and am very impressed. My cold boot time was decreased by over 40 seconds and everything runs much, much faster. No temperature issues at all. Photos, camera, calender applications are all super smooth now and page loads in the web browser are noticeably faster. Even things like Gowalla, which rely on retrieving information, seem to be a lot faster. Can't recommend this enough. I thought my pre was great before, now its just awesome!
I have had the kernel patch installed on OS1.3.5.1 and OS1.4 for weeeks without a hiccup. There was a large alpha testing group for the initial introduction of the kernel who did detailed data analysis. A reference thread link is located with my introduction to the video which you can trace back to the OS1.4 and OS1.3.5.1 (earliest version) alpha team safety studies. Read the threads enjoy!
so how long have you had it clocked at 800mhz for..any issues, restarts etc. Im currently using the alpha version of the scalar app with the 800mhz clock in place.
I installed this 800MHz patch and my Pre's performance is MUCH faster. I don't do a lot of games so I notice no heat increase. Users do need to read (in the Pre forums) about all the implications of installing this or any patch that modified stock processing. Same for any overclocking of any computer. The authors did a very nice job and tested well before releasing. Great job !
Made the music comment before seeing that you can see the artist and title right on the video. I knew just from the first 3 notes. Love The Format (although I think they're no longer together?).
I can name that tune in 3 notes... The Format - She Doesn't Get It. (Nice music taste. No apologies needed.)
Love the work for the Pre. I'd love to see this running on mine. Question: When you say "safe" does that mean we can run without concern of ruining the Pre's processor?

This patch is amazing, running for 12 hours, No problems yet other then a 25% increase in speed every ware!
this is why I love my Palm+pre so much more open then other manufactures.
with out the patch I was using about 7-8% an hour average over the day and now its 9.7% , the extra speed is more then worth the 30-40 min.
