The cost of material was about $150.00. Magnets, resin, magnet wire, the galvanized tube for the rotors. The rest of the machine was scrap material and my time.
The turbine reaches 14.6 open volts at 4.3 m/s. This equals 12.7 volts when connected to the battery and charging begins. (Depending on the state of charge of the battery)
If you dont mind me asking, What was the cost of this unit?
And when i say cost i mean the breakdown of components (you bought).
I like this design and am wondering that the blades are made from. And at what windspeed do you start generating enough power to charge up your batteries (12v-24v).
Wow, I said that? It must not have been a good day that day and people are getting tired of wading through trolls to get to the feedback they seek. You were being judgmental. You search for the videos you watch. We are displaying them for people of like interest NOT for your approval.. I stand by my opinion, "If you don't like it change the channel.".
I was however rude in my statement. You are not cancer, but in the end you are either part of the solution or an example of the problem.
@packagewarren I missed the memo where peoples youtube videos were posted for you and only you. Trolling is akin to cancer. You ARE cancer. This video is incredible. The turbine depicted is well built. Leave. Go back to 4chan and stay there.
@derman077 , big deal, you built something. but what? you too shy to talk about it? you are the cancer. you don't say anything about the so-called vawt. if you're so proud of what you've done, then say something about it. don't just show a video and think everyone is ooohing and ahhhhing. no sound, no vote. so you are the one who should go back in a hole and learn how to communicate to people, unless you're deaf.
I agree with your comment and I know how you feel. That is why I will never make the statement "Free Energy". To process to manufacture products takes energy. The process to feed people who manufature products takes energy. The list is infinit. We simply take energy and change its state. The more cost efficient and enviroentally friendly we can do it is what makes the difference.
The restriction takes place between the two rotor chambers which are shaped like inverted airfoils. As the wind passes between them the velocity increases and the pressure drops. This is demonstrated with a water monometer in one of my other videos.
There is a permanant magnet generator on top of each rotor. I used 3/4" dia neo magnets on a 5" steel disc. 3 phase, 12 poles with 9 coils in star. 112 turns/coil. Cut in speed is 400 RPM @ 7 mph windspeed.
can you tell me why this design is better than a single vertical axis wind turbine other than having 2 of them together, or a propeller windmill since it needs to face into the wind like one?
Single axis turbines that rotate around a tower create sinusoidal (pulsing) power cycles because the blades angle of attack changes as it spins in relation to the wind. The blades create max torque at two points of its rotational cylcle. There are currently some good ideas with helical rotors that help with this problem that I would like to try someday in the venturi rotor chamber.
I will be posting my latest turbine in a few days with more details.
It is a real smart decision of the hard problem, that reqired lots of experementals with a strong costly foundamet (base), so guy: you will hahe a big future. I ll be you invester!
Youre on the right track. A 2,500 watts unit is more like a useful generator with storage and good electronics it can run more than a toaster or coffee pot. Looking forward to see your next video on the larger unit. Thank You for making the videos!
this is a nice desighn, now go to them dragons den and show your creation and let them fund you, so you can make a massive version if wind, speed, energy etc ratio is correct
bigdbez. THANKS for the stats. Big frustratin on YouTube is that nobody tells what either the efficiency or the power generational ability of what they are showing. Might as well be wind chimes.
I had the bearing holders made at a machine shop. The rest is hand made. Available power: P=1/2(Rho)(A)(Cp)(V^3)(Ng)(Nb) is 82watts at 12 m/s for this rotor area. Rho=air density @1.15 kg/m^3. Cp= betz limit @ 59%. NG is alternator efficiency @ 75%Nb= bearing efficiency @ 90%. The turbine produces 20 watts at 12 m/s. @ 24% which is very respectable for 6" rotors. I am building a 12 foot machine that has 20" diameter rotors which is almost complete. I will post a video once it is running.
You made it yourself? Is it more efficient that propellers? It looks just like a thing people should consider for use on (house)boats and huts/cabins :)
awsm, innovative and brilliant idea!! keep it up dude! environment needs you!!

Thank you. We will be installing the TRV4 aeration turbine as soon as the tower is completed.

Yep... When you can get one of those to power a manufacturing company that makes wind turbines, let me know.

Impressive design.

venturi implies a constriction to increase wind speed, i don't see that here.

Looks nice but where is the power generated?

i see you know a lot of things about wind energy, do you know about alternative energy investments, if yes let me know,

nice n simple. The way a turbine should be.

It seems this system could withstand faster wind speeds than the windmill styles. What do you think?

Why does your dog kennel need a 12 volt battery?
sixmagpies 2 years ago
Why are you bothering to point what is basically a vertical axis wind turbine into the wind?
aqueousone 2 years ago
Because it's, both, a double barrelled AND a screened rotor design ..... if you look carefully that surely is obvious.

Did you make this yourself?
