My sister Star had //bacterial Meningitis in Nov. 2010 two days before her 43rd birthday she is paralyzed from the neck down and on a respirator to breathe. We have a rehab facility to take her and are in desperate need of funding. Please help us by donating today! Star Ellis Meningitis Hope Fund acct.9735 c/o Wachovia Bank or to the fund by pay-pal.
My 2 year old son just lost his life to pneumococcal meningitis on October 26 2010. It was very sudden an unexpected. He got sick on Monday the 25th and had a positive flu test at the Dr. so thats what we thought it was. On tuesday the 26th he wasnt better so his dr. admitted him. he was admitted at 3pm had a seizure at 5:30 and just got worse and quit breathing and passed away at 7:34pm. Its been horrible. . We had no idea that this could work so fast...we just thought it was the flu....
@ZDR1113 I am so sorry to here about your loss. My heart goes out to you! You are a strong person simply by talking about what happened. I wish you and your family all the best. Your son is watching you and I know he is in a happy place.
Reading all these comments and seeing this video makes me realize how lucky i am that i survived this disease when i was 7 it was bacterial gladly i didnt die although i lost my hearing and use a cochlear implant sometimes it annoys me ALOT but i do thank God for giving me the opportunity to hear again but now seeing this and i realize how very lucky i am that i survived nobody should have to go thru this ever its not safe and its very scary
I had meningitis when I was three, as a result of an accident. I did survive, but I wasn't the same afterwards - I became very nervous whereas I used to be very outgoing. I think it's important to raise awareness of the disease, not just of the physical symptoms - which can strike very quickly - but also the psychological effects it can have on its victims. Thank you for this video It was well thought out.
i lost my beautiful niece last week due to meningitis, i cry everyday, and wish i knew more about this disease so that i could prevent this from happening.. she is with god now.. god bless you all who have made it.
last year i devoloped bacterial meningitis after a brain operation and it sucksss. my heart goes out to those who have it, died from it or know people who have.
i got bacterial and some other stuff when i was 18 months old and i had all those symtomes as my relatives say and nothing happend to me .. im fine and you cant get it twice
i got it to and its not fun to have to sit in a hospital for three months and be put in a medicaly induesd coma for 8 days get vaccsinated-------- MENACTRA
last night my brother ran around delusional and then fell down and had 2 seizures, he is now at the hospital and they think it may be meningitis or epilepsy as he is still having multiple seizures and he had several of the earlier symptoms of meningitis last few days so god I hope he will get through it.
No they are not symptoms and not to scare you more but you should be scared this disease can kill in hours I was one of the lucky ones. If you are scared follow what they say to prevent it and please I can't stress it enough get vaccinated I wish I knew about this horrible disease before it almost ended my life I am 29 years old and I am a survivor of Meningitis
I have had bacterial meningitis two times. Once when I was 7years old, and once when i was 11. The first time was the worst because my doctor didn't take me seriously so she sent me home and i were in a coma for days. When i woke up had lost my hearing on one ear. Luckily the other one was okay so I can still hear. The second time i recognized the symptoms so early that i i recovered quickly..
I think I have it :( I am going to doctor today. I woke up a 2am freezeing and shaking, at 6am I woke up on fire with stiff neck fingers ache and a fever plus headache my father had this in is youth :(
I got out of hospital a couple of weeks ago after suffering from meningitis. I am still having many horrible after effects of the illness and my time in ICU, although much of it is hazy, is something that I will live with for the rest of my life - it was horrendous and I wouldn't wish it on anyone. More awareness of this disease and the symptoms could save so many people - my admission to hospital was slower than it should have been due to myself and others not recognising the symptoms
i also survived meningococal meningitis. by far the wierdest experience of my life. i am 20 and i got out of the hospital about 3 weeks ago. i was only in the hospital for a little over a week but was in a coma for 5 days of that week. i am just now starting to feel like myself again. shits fucked up lol. doctors in the emergency room said if i had gotten there 1-2 hours later i would have died.
I am a survivor of meningococal meningitis and although I thank god everyday that I survived I wish that people would understand that I will never be the same. People can be so judgemental when they have not lived in your shoes ! Thank you for this video. God bless, Jahnette
A well put together video. I had pneumococcal men. I didnt have a rash, I wasn`t sensitive to lights and didn`t get a stiff neck til about 4 days after diagnoses. So you don`t necessary have to have ALL the symptoms! Time is very important if you think you have this! Don`t wait!!!
it is so scary that meningitis masks itself as the flu... Parents may just think their kid has the flu real bad and a headache, some don't realize that it is serious until their kid has a seizure and by then it may be too late.
I had this and I survived.

I was 2 and a half when I had Bacterial meningitis... I had a complete personality change.
Also my vision and hearing is bad, as well as being slightly behind in my learning ability.
I'm so grateful to the Doctors that saved my life!!! and the never ending supply of Icy-poles the Hospital had :D
