I know how, use LIPS.

It's a patcher, so people would have the (Original) 101 MB file, and they will download patches for it, and patch them using this handy tool.

Google is your friend. Sorry.

This NEEDS to be elaborated on - I'm about done with Shadow being called Sonic constantly, and having TOO EASY - PIECE OF CAKE burn my ears off every time I own a match. :P

Be sure to get this one going ASAP, Stickman! You could add the finishing touch on the complete replacement of characters! :D
