  • This is totally great! The fact that she's playing King Crimson is perfect...

  • I am an admitted sexist --- I do not like, respect, understand, or appreciate girl drummers. But this Sara is OK !!

  • Hey Sara. Sara here. Not only are you a phenomenal player; you have great musical taste. I played this song onstage with Adrien Belew when I used to play the Paul Green School of Rock. You could have done an awesome job as well.

  • The chops and the conviction. Both impeccable.

  • How about some CP instead?

  • SIMPLY GREAT !!!!!

  • Excellent Sara...way to go!!!

  • Leave it to the asians to blow our mind

  • @everyoneisondope or anything else for that matter.

  • Frikkin' sweet.

  • Practice practice practice

    Keep up the good work

  • Sara !!! I love you !!!!!

  • Very Spirited!!!!

  • are you kidding me?and she,s only 12.wow.very good.i tip my hat too you sara.

  • Only a Formula One car has as good a power to weight ratio. Phenominal drumming to one of the best and most complicated pieces of grunge rock ever.

  • Awesome. Bruford is one of the hardest drummers to emulate.

And at 12, the girl is on her was to becoming a prodigy.

    She might be one now.

Many drummers are content keeping a basic 2/4:4/4 beat.

This girl is doing some amazing syncopated drumming.

  • Simply wonderful! It's nice to see someone this young play actual good music. She looks like she is having fun too! The aforementioned "click-track issue" is no big deal. She is obviously listening because she gets back to it when it goes off a little. Sensational!

  • How great for a 12 yr old playin KC

  • nah i dun mean to be recist wourld is unite so i have just ask a rubbish

  • Asian ?

  • @isfjustinhkdlfns No, Oriental. Asian is Pakistan etc. Not that it makes a difference, unless your point is a racist one.

  • i wasn't playing crimson until i was 15. props.

  • why she should not do that ?

    just one talent or deception.

  • regardless of the click track track.....She is pretty amazing for 12 years of age...Go Sarah Go !

  • Wow. A kid now playing Crimson. Excellent.

  • You go girl! You would make Bill Bruford proud! Now I have hope for the future.

  • Sara... You Rock!!! I hope that you are still playing!!! By the time you're out of high school you will be incredible!!!

  • Great job, Sara. To be able to understand Bill Bruford at such a young age is a gift. Enjoy your talent forever.!

  • Respect Sara... where are you now?

  • more tempo minus show

  • for her fuckin age shes fucking awesome dont fuckin hate most of u guys probly cant do wat she did/ duz sure shes not bill but still fuckin great

  • SARA STOLE MY SOLE!

My GAWD! Doing Bill Bruford's jam on RED. WOW! WOW! WOW!

Bruford is one of my all time favorite top drummers.

Not looking at the screen and just listening...SHE's GOT IT!

    She ain't 12. SHE'S A HOBBIT LOL!!

  • Kid's got good taste in music and great chops for so young ! Keep banging those cans young one !

  • im glad she's emulating bruford.. i hope she notices how amazing he is.. and jon theodore as very creative drummers

  • Fantastic!

  • A 12 year old girl listening to King Crimson: fucking awesome!!! Who cares if she goes out of time a bit (she probably couldn't hear the click over her drum set). Whatever. I was listening to Rush at her age due to my brother being a fan, I've now gone on to teach music at University, I hope she continues to pursue her dreams too. Keep rockin' girl!!!

  • You don't have to be big to make a big sound, she's brilliantly happy on the drums.

  • Good, but not as good Bill Bruford :P

  • she sucks this is just making king crimson look bad

  • @bellythekid1234 she's fucking twelve, and she's fucking good.

  • Go, Sara!

  • impressive

  • still not getting the music idea

  • Hey WTF there is a cowbell .....and none of her sticks are hittin' it.

  • @DaDa2Phlux disregard the previous -if the click track IS the cowbell

  • @DaDa2Phlux its a click track for her

  • the backing track is ugly

  • Sara. Your enthusiasm is contagious. Keep rockin' it. You're terrific.

  • Bravo, Sara! It's great.

  • she dont even need the click track which is out of time in parts and that is an evan more remarkable feat. This kid can drum for me any time! Much raspect

  • strong down beat for small arms...needs 2 work out more 2 keep it going!

  • This young lady is awesome, literally.

  • That a 12-year-old girl could have Bill Bruford as a role model gives me a little bit of hope for the future.

  • @jbannon200 EL JOKE

  • great stuff! it like to see her do some metal stuff... maybe a little metalica or pantera?

  • This girl is excellent and plays with attitude. It's very impressing seeing a girl playing King Crimson at this young age, her parents definitely did their homework.

The problem getting the beat is common when you start in music, she should be great in a couple of years.

  • thats one hell of a cool kid

  • Amazing chops and a nice kit. I wonder where she heard that obscure song. Maybe her parents have the album.

  • too much cowbell . but still good

  • Holy shit

  • How she plays now, 3 years later, I wonder. She must be incredibly good.

  • she looks like dave grohl, but meen o meen she can play the drums just like a ringin a bell

  • anybody can copy---but it takes real talent to be original (bill bruford, 1982)

  • @ doughnutboy - the kid is having fun with great music! In what world is this wrong? She is very talented, of course she still struggles with this very intense drum structure. Who cares? My god....I just got a jolt of joy that a 12 year old appreciated King Crimson! Child Abuse? Yeah..I know all about Tiger Mom and the twisted beauty pageants....but this? The music is brilliant and innovative...and the kid digs it. Child Abuse? I was an abused child...Child Abuse? FUCK OFF!

  • Should've learned better before you did this.

  • giirrl, u good!! :) (im a drumma too!!)

  • really impressive but she's still no Bruford :(

  • @fluxmuldar. it seems that you know a lot about this girl and her family. are you psychic or just assuming?

why is it that when i see a 12 year old boy who can play incredible guitar that people don't make comments like fluxmudlar?

  • @fluxmuldar. it seems that you know a lot about this girl and her family. are you psychic or just assuming?

  • I keep coming back to this vid. Sara's going to be a goddamned beast. I can't wait for her to get an established band sometime in the next decade! I'll go on tour like it's the second coming of Garcia.

  • Here's your third drummer, King Crimson.

  • Amazing. Some kids just know from a very early age what they enjoy doing and are focused. she probably bugged her parents to get the drums and they support her interest.

I don't feel she is being 'forced' into this. Sheila E. is another female drummer and she began playing drums at age 3. proper performance age 5. went professional as a teen. she knew she had a gift and wanted to use and share it.

I have no doubt it's the same for Sara. I wish her success.

  • sweet. this little girl has got some fuckin chops!! not time tho......good for her. great

  • i belive that is plain talent good job its taken me years to be even as close to good as she is be lite on the child abuse thing

  • I guess yamaha doesn't suck in japan

  • Take it easy on the snare drum, sweetie...

  • This chick is rad... she's going to be a force once she develops her own voice, and she's got a great head start.

I love how some commenters just can't accept that a 13 year old girl can actually dig listening to and playing this kind of stuff... like Belieberism is mandated by law for tweens without a Y chromosome. Or that she's being 'forced' to do this by an overbearing dad. I fucking wish my dad had 'forced' me at age 13 by hooking me up with v-Drums AND an acoustic kit...

  • I'm willing to bet any amount of money that eveyrone talkin shit n saying anything but "THis girl rocks" NEVER EVER picked up an instrument and or is NOT a musician. GUARANFUCKINTEE!

  • Her parents probably forced her to do this honestly what teenage girl would want to play this

  • @doughnutboy99 What kind of stupid shit is that?? When I was a teenager,I dreamed of playing guitar like Jimi Hendrix...and this was in the early 90's. Your'e a talentless douche bag. hush.

  • @tropicalpimp who said i had talent in the first place and who cares about you

  • @doughnutboy99 EXACTLY. the talentless assholes always are the first ones to talk shit cause they dont have teh capacity to do shit themselves.

  • @tropicalpimp alright pal what instruments do you exactly play then

  • @doughnutboy99 I DON'T play any..that's why I don't talk shit.

  • @tropicalpimp exactly. I play the bass, guitar, drums, and do vocals so i think you owe me a apology

  • @tropicalpimp too right man !

  • Yeah, I think also, that being a talented child prodigy on an instrument, whether you've been over-encouraged or not is different to child abuse...she's, at the age of 12, well on her way to being great at her craft...which can't turn sour, like being a beauty pagant winner will when your looks fade away...she's got real talent

  • Holy smoke!

Cute li'l girl vs. Bill freaking BRUford, for Pete's sake.

...and darned if it ain't li'l girl FTW!

    (Look out, Mister B.)

  • flux is jealous he couldn't play this well at 12. Music is a force in itself, IT forces me to practice at least 3 hours every day, not my teacher or parents. Music.

  • I have to agree with everyone who disagrees with you, flux. You can't "force" a 12-year old to do something like this unless they're into it themselves..musically *or* spiritually.

And...do you know this father? To compare this situation with that of parents forcing their kid into pageants is ludicrous!!

My once 12-year-old daughter is now 18...so, I know from whence I speak.

  • This little girl is AWESOME!!!!!!!!!

  • Seriously, people, you can't FORCE a child to play anything this complex without them at LEAST digging it, if not freakin' GROOVING on it. This girl rocked some serious Bruford and you all gotta deal with THAT. I'm as sensitive as anyone to apparent child abuse (yeah, like those sad, talentless child whore expos), but this is damn TALENT.

  • Forget what she's playing or why. Any 12 yr old who is spending time using her mind and being creative should be commended. Most kids are wasting their time in front of a TV or a video game.

  • This girl is fantastic! If she didn't want to be playing "Geeky prog rock" Mr. fluxmulder she wouldn't have practiced and rehearsed as much as she obviously has. And she wouldn't look so happy at her (work) as she does! You needn't be so cynical sir. You go girl!

  • Shes's better than Bruford.....what is she going to be playing in 5 10 yrs time...frightening!!!....go for it !!

  • The backround music makes me want to kill myself

  • @alloneword154 It's a MIDI file, the only viable option to get a drumless song if you don't have access to the original studio tapes.

  • "Prime example of a geeky prog rock drummer"

LMAO whoever is pointing her to this music is on track. Rush, Krimso? Holy crap that's advanced progrock drumming. And krimso is known for funky timing.

Very good Sara and whoever supports you!

    I have seen Bruford live.

  • What a strange kitchen..

  • @Dviperjr What do you call a man that makes jokes about women in the kitchen?

    ..Single.

  • @TheLmfaoMovement

    not single so hah :D

  • fine motor fills

  • Comment removed

  • fluxmuldar, you're foolish. You're the prime example of someone over-analyzing a simple (and neat) situation with the little girl being a ninja on the drums.. Plus, she's getting her groove on, look at her facial expressions at certain points,, the unmistakable face of a drummer gettin down and jammin.. Some of you people think way too much these days,, get your heads out of the gutter.

  • WOW. Keep Going SARA!! JL

  • The Head Banging Thing SCARES ME! THE GRUDGE LOL!!!!!

  • This girl is absolutely magnificent. To think that she is playing Bruford almost beat for beat! And King Crimson at that! Fantastic.

Let everyone else here be harsh and obnoxious. But I think this girl is going places.

I bet somewhere, Bill Bruford is grinning ear to ear.

P.S.: If you got Magma, Yes, Mahavishnu, and Gong there, have this young lady check them out, and try to play along. And find four other girls to jam along with her. That would be quite a Rush for her and them.

  • ridiculous.... she should be proud of herself :)

  • It is awesome that kids like her are starting to love this music. And I think it is awesome that she is following in the footsteps of one of the greatest bands (king crimson). She did really awesome. And I love it. But she just lacks the enthusiasm bill bruford has at the drums. Once she gets the improvisation and enthusiasm she will be a really good prog rock drummer

  • Why?

  • I've never seen a lil girl wrestle with an octopus before...this is cool.

  • Its cool but covering a song is alot easier than writing one. if she wrote this than id be impressed.

  • Prime example of a geeky prog rock drummer father forcing his kid to do the same thing, and then film it, AND post it with a video title that screams for attention. Child abuse in disguise, but still child abuse. Just like those little girls that get forced into beauty pageants by their parents.

  • It sucks and is very sad that you see talent as abuse. if you are a musician you know that music flows through you, as you. She will eventually develop her own tastes as she gets older. i was listening to and playing prog rock and jazz when all of my friends were listening to Kiss and Aerosmith. but guess what, my core understanding of music is stronger with that experience.

  • @fluxmuldar This kid looks like she's having the time of her life to me. Wish you could have that much fun, do ya?

  • @fluxmuldar Or maybe she loves the drums and prefers good music, its not that uncommon, You just a tool that has to hate on everything on youtube because you want people to think that your some kind of wise ass with an intellectual taste in music.

  • @fluxmuldar

How do you know all of this? Such a substantial claim has to have at least one shred of proof. Where is it?

  • @fluxmuldar how the hell do you know the kid isnt enjoying it? Find out first. This kid is talented, and some of the fills are natural, not premeditated.

  • @fluxmuldar Yes - let's let the government fix it..

  • @fluxmuldar when i was a kid i liked the stones and steely dan. my dad and I listened to them all the time and i still dig them to this day.. if a guy and his kids bonded over this and shes that talented that is completely different from being sexualized at a young age in a fucking beauty pageant. get a life

  • @fluxmuldar your just jealous that this little girl is more talented than you. do you even play music? or do you just sit in your moms basement playing the skin flute.

  • @fluxmuldar haha

  • @fluxmuldar

Excuse me- you can't force a kid to play King Crimson with that kind of passion. This girl has some serious taste in music. Love to see what she'll be drumming to when she's twenty!

  • @fluxmuldar Don't kid yourself - you're looking at the future here. This young musician is completely committed, and her passion is coming from within, not without. If she wants a career at the top of the field as a session musician or in a top-level touring band in a few years, then she will get it, and no snide, jealous remarks are going to stop her. Take it from someone who has educated and managed hundreds of teen musicians - this kid has got what it takes.

  • @fluxmuldar How can you not see the spirit flowing through her? No way is this oppression. Her grove screams otherwise.

  • @fluxmuldar This is the best form of child abuse ever.

  • @fluxmuldar dude, what? check out her other videos, does she look like she's being forced? look at her face, again, does she look like she's being forced? what's wrong with you? and the titles "scream" for attention because she's trying to promote herself while using what she's got(you can't blame her that a 12 year old girl rocking to prog rock is interesting)

    you go girl!

  • @d180586 A 12 year old doesn't have the mental capacity to shamelessly promote herself like this video is doing. Check out the channel "She will perform on "YouTube Live TOKYO feat. IQ" on Nov. 23rd. She is so happy about that". You're telling me this kid wrote that. Right. This video was posted by a parent feeding off of the attention that their kid gets.

  • @fluxmuldar

Seriously? I think this girl's potential is enormous. Just think what she can accomplish by age 18.

  • @fluxmuldar looks like shes having fun to me.. nothing wrong with it.. I cant force kids to do shit. just guide them/encourage. trust me kids like hitting stuff.

  • @fluxmuldar Teaching children creationism is child abuse. Trying to get your daughter interested in good music and providing her with a sweet drumkit to wail on is FAR FROM CHILD ABUSE.

  • @YOUsnozeYOULOZE What the hell? Good music and the Creation go together perfectly!!!

  • @fluxmuldar Maybe her prog rock dad just introduced her to prog rock and drumming, and she liked it. And if her dad or somebody didn't do that, then other kids and media would get her into Justin Bieber and Miley Cyrus. A lot of parts about raising children is "child abuse". Pretty much everything is child abuse with that attitude.

  • @fluxmuldar Wow, Fox, your sure reading a LOT into this. Guess what, as sexist as I sometimes am I will admit right now it is probable that she DOES INDEED like prog! And good for her! If she were my daughter I would beam with pride if she only knew these songs existed, but if my daughter/sister/wife could PLAY them as well...?! I would weep uncontrolably.

Besides, she has a lovable human quality, its NOT studio perfect or a trick. Note the terrible time error at exactly the forty first second.

  • I'm also a drummer, and I love King Crimson/Bill Bruford. The fact a 12 year old is listening that hard to King Crimson is a great thing. And she's into Zappa too! She's got great taste for a kid.

  • as a drummer...my view on complex and kick ass songs such as these.. dont cover it untill you can play it just as well as bruford..it just doesnt do this song justice to have a 12 yr old with no feel play it

  • @noobovic so you're saying that all the millions of people who learned to play guitar by listening and playing along to metallica/metallica tab books shouldn't do that simply because they're "not playing it with the same exact feel" as the person who wrote it? cool.

  • @machew100 nah lol im just saying that if your gonna cover one of the best of the best prog bands at least get a full band in there without a metronome and a 12 yr old drummer who looks like shes struggling all the way

  • @noobovic I mean I agree that there's something to be said for waiting until you've mastered something before putting it on youtube, but I'll bet her father forced her to do it so he could feel some sense of youtube erection from having a video with thousands of views. I mean, the title is begging for people to watch it, so it's obvious he's view-whoring. I think it's fine to cover or play things but putting it on the internet with an attention-grabbing name is stupid.

  • @machew100 haha yeah but like i dunno from a drummers perspective she doesnt do a very good cover...shes full small and the kit looks way too big for her.....somthing like a phonics monkey drum kit from south park would do her fine

  • @noobovic I mean sure, but think about what you were playing at the age of 12 compared to this. I was still in middle school band haha, not much to brag about there.

  • @machew100 you don't know do you. Youre guessing. Don't bet because youre jealous.

  • you dont have to play like that -- the thing is that, your movements have to be appropriate with the song you chose. senri kawaguchi is better.

  • She must go through heads pretty quickly, given how hard she hits EVERYTHING. Well done, though <_<

  • this is why the asians are beating us!

  • Kinda makes up for her future lack of driving skills. Awesome job

  • @Busby7387 What about you makes up for being a Nazi pig?

  • Better than me. NICE KIT!

  • she is crazy lol

  • lol

  • Well played!

  • Tough song to do. I've been playing for 30+ years and it would not be easy for me. She's great.

  • You ARE GREATTTTT!!!!!!!

  • Just better timing then it'd be dope

  • Well;

From examining the comments (10+ months) it seams real musicians does recognize outstanding talent! We know problems can (often) develop after the last soundcheck, and when something goes wrong Live there is very little to do, you're commited to playing your best with it! Her keeping THAT BEAT for 7 minutes with an offbeat metronome is quite a performance! Indeed "brave"!

What a show! What a musician!! I'm just so hungry for new takes!!!

  • Hey Super Kid Drummer - You really have a sense of style. I love those CYMBAL CRASHES!!!!!!!!!!! Keep up the good work! I really enjoyed hearing you play!!

    Much Love - 'Thee Motivator'

  • She has alot of emotion. Watch her rock out...

As youfilin pointed out, playing Crimson at 12 is brave. This is awesome. I really enjoyed this.

  • fuckin awesome

  • Yeah you fucking no-ones, lets criticize a 12 year old girl. When you were 12 you were listening to who fucking cares

  • She cant even keep a fucking beat!! She has a metronome, and she still cant stay on beat.. woww.

  • You were a lil off on some parts in the song it could have been better and drummer to drummer don't lift your arms too high it will hurt later in life trust me n it will mess u up on the beat and tempo but besides that it was pretty good

  • Look, just cause Bill Bruford retired does'nt mean your gonna get a gig with King Crimson (if they decide to regroup). You got chops but your cadence messed up here and there. Also, around 3:10 min in or so when you switched to your electric percussion pad..you triggered what sounded like a seal barking. A SEAL BARKING?? Theres' no seals in Red!! Maybe a remix somewhere but "I've" never heard it. Other than that, you show promise.

  • She could be a bit more conservative with her motion, but that comes with age and increased muscle control.

  • Methinks she needs a smaller drumset. Pretty darn good in any case.

  • cool

  • girl has a taste ) brave

  • girl has a taste ) brave

  • blaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!

  • @fedekikolo lol ?
