looove this movie.....bought it and watch it alot....cant get enuff of these two! If we could just bring them back for one last show!! How awesome that would be!!
@MultiFroggies ohh i totally agree but there is someone that sings music like this michael buble hes a crooner and he sings all the sinatra songs i love his music i cant wait for his christmas album to come out
@sarafranco100 Bublé has a superb voice, granted, but with Sinatra it was SO much more than that; it was who he was, where he came from, the period in America that he helped to define, Kennedy, Monroe, Gardner, Sam Giancana, Vegas, Rat Pack, Bobby-Soxers...these were the qualities that he brought to his performances, and that's why he remains (in my eyes) unrivalled.
This is so good... they are both so good... I don't know who to watch... so I watch it repeatedly, focusing on one, and then the other... Sinatra was such a Crosby fan, this must have been an enormous kick for him... and Cole Porter wrote it. And they were all Homo Sapiens... and you are, too...
@jazzlover06 ... I am sure it's 'The Blue Danube'... I think so anyway, I hope so... Honestly I really hope it is... hee hee... Best regards from Wales UK ... :0)x
@wenglishsal Thanks for the reply! I really don't want to come across as punctilious, but my obsessive compulsion led me to my local music nerd who confirmed it was Der Fledermaus. Right composer, wrong piece. :) Honestly, I really hope this is right, else this could be quite awkward ;) Best Regards from London ... :0)x
One thing we can agree on is that this song is great.
@robloxrules55 It is a TERRIBLE Movie... Based on the play "The Philadelphia Story", (Movie by Jimmy Stewart and Kathrine Hepburn). It is deeply sexist to the point of misogyny... However.. If you isolate the music.... It is Awesome. The Philadelphia Story, if you are interested in the actual storyline... is much better. And I don't think you can find a better comparative example in Cinema of Great Actors vs Great Singers.
You have to watch BBC proms Celebration of MGM musicals, Seth Macfarlane and curtis Stigers do an incredible job with the brilliantly talented John Wilson Orchestra. They just finish a tour on 5th December and I saw it in Glasgow royal concert hall - it was literally breathtaking!
If I'm not mistaken Sinatra is singing the harmony during the first half of this number while Crosby sings the melody. Then, halfway through the song, they switch and Crosby sings harmony while Sinatra takes the melody. Not a bad way to divide it up.
Two kings of the music industry. Both pioneers with there astonishing vocals fascinates all people of all ages and generations. They will forever have a swell party.
Don't know why but my favourite bit of this is just Frank saying "This kid's got guts!"
