  • Thank you so much for posting this. It's extremely brave and you have a fantastic attitude. The pictures at the end were so helpful too. Our adventures with UC were almost exactly the same, pain,C Diff, enemas,Remicade, what seemed like a billion pills a day. I just got the 1st and 2nd surgery but had a ton of complications. I'm excited for my take down but a little nervous too. Is the third much easier? Has it been smooth sailing or have you had issues with the jpouch too?Hope you're doing well!

  • Cool man, your video helped inspire me to go through with surgery! Thats awesome you only had the bag six weeks and returned to soccer! How did your season go? Did you notice any dehydration issues?

  • @gators4orever Season went good I had a slow start cuz of injuries b/c I tried to push to hard before getting into shape at that level of activity. My team was great I would wear a bib so nobody would hit me for the first 3 weeks. No dehydration issues. Seems like you would without a colon but I havent had any issues. I just had my yearly sigmoidoscopy and everything has healed up I just have one staple still hanging in there that might be causing some blood.(Docs dont want to tough)

  • Hey bstock, how bad was your colitis was it severe or moderate and did it involve the entire colon? I'm jw cause I just elected to have surgery but mine is a 6 month process and you fortunately were able to complete yours in six weeks somehow

  • @gators4orever Mine was moderate to severe (I think). The colitis was throughout my entire large colon. Dr said it was completely destoyed when he pulled it out and would not have lasted much longer. I know another person who just had the surgery and did it in 7mo. Ya six weeks is the aboslute min that they will do it in. I was trying to push it so I would have time to train for my last soccer season.

  • @bstock004 DR said if no major issues and pouch heals in that six weeks then he would have no problem with takedown then.

The test this by putting liquid in the pouch and doing a scan to see if you have any leaks. I am not sure why some ppl have to wait longer than others you should ask your DR.

Yes my entier colon was infected and the only left 1cm of the 5 feet of large colon.

  • @bstock004 Thats great man! Thanks for the explanation, I guess I will have a test before my takedown as well. I still haven't had the jpouch part formed cause they are doing mine in three stages.

  • @gators4orever the doctors would rarher leave it for fear of causing any issues as it should just fall out on it's own. The 1cm of colon left inside to attach everything does have some inflamation but is not causing any urgency at this time. I will be taking suppositories to help it go away. :)

  • dude...you are awesome. Great positive attitude! You definitely gave me some inspiration to get surgery. I was diagnosed when I was 18 and have had an ileostomy for 4 years. I might have the option to get a ileorectal anastomosis which is where they hook your ileum back to your rectum if there is enough there. Second best option would be ileoanal anastomosis which is hooked to the anus instead of the rectum. I have been prolonging it but I think it is time. Thanks again man.

  • @dirus08 I say give it a shot :)

  • I'm SO happy for you and your success! :))) i think i'm gonna do the surgery...

  • Ha dont cry Cyborg!..This vid is supposed to give hope :) What you got whats your story sometimes its good to talk about it

  • Watching this video made me cry. It reminded me of what I've gone through, or rather what am going through with this horrible disease.

  • hey what happen to the bloddy stool? you still have it ?did you go for the pouchoscopy?

  • @dasache Yea I did, It was cuffitis the way I understand it is that your immune system attacks the 3cm of colon left after surgery (even though it had no colitis prior to surgery). Couple solutions to the bleeding: if it does not stop for some time they can go in and cauterize areas of bleeding (not a solution for cuffitis I don’t think just locations of bleeding from stables) or what I have done is nightly suppositories (tablet that dissolves not as bad as enemas).

  • @dasache For the first couple weeks I did them every night now I only use them once maybe a week, they help solidify stool I think so I also take them to do that.

Currently, I am on 0000 meds and BM's probably 4-6 times a day but I don’t really count anymore, 0 at night unless I eat before bed and go to bed early :). Working out is very close to normal again with some tightness around ostomy sight.

  • I'm glad that you're feeling good! I also had the J pouch surgery but in 3 steps. I envy your scars , my surgeries were open the cut is down from the belly button :)

I was lucky to have low number of BMs , after the takedown surgery it was 5-8 and now a year and a months after it's 2-4 a day and 0 at night.

  • @mynameiskobi

Ya it looks like you have had a pretty good experience with the surgeries. Any side effects yet, (cuffitis, pouchitis). My BM's have been improving as well as time goes on:)
