  • Wow! Your videos are helping me so much! I know exactly how you feel when you decide to just eat all the bad food "to get rid of it". I do this all the time and didn't know other people thought this same way. Its so good to see that there ARE people who understand exactly what I'm going through.

  • I am just speechless right now... This makes so much sence thank you.

  • Josie your videos are seriously amazing and are saving me right now! I don't understand how you don't have more followers because you are the first person I've seen to actually make sense of this issue that I feel like is taking over people's lives. Thank you so muchhh :) I have a question though, how do I start grocery shopping when I don't know what my cravings will be and I'm afraid that sweets and foods I love will only taunt me sitting in the cupboard waiting for me to binge?

  • So I have a question. I'm sometimes either craving unhealthy or healthy food. Have you tried to have everything available but make the unhealthy choices just eating a small amount. I tried to go around that way but always feel guilty and think it might not work in losing weight. Do you think this would help binge eating and losing weight?

  • @lovelymakeupnewbie Great question! Yes for many it is imperative to allow ourselves to have the "unhealthy" choice cuz if you restrict it the chances are really high that you will binge or over-do it when you do let yourself have that food...I think you nailed the fear on the head..it is hard to believe that you could still lose weight eating those foods....but when you eat what you really want you are truly satisfied and eat so much less once you trust it will be there..

  • First of all, thank you, great videos. Burning question: what do I do when I am craving food, ask myself the questions and see number of conflicting needs: I feel lonely and scared, solution would be to go meet with a friend, but what if a friend but I am too tired to go see anyone or may be I feel too meh about myself that all I want is to wine and cry and I don't want to burden my friend with that? What if I am tired but I have a ton of homework? How do I calm down and prioritize?

  • seriously, you don't know how much you're helping me! all my love to you!!!!

  • @WhoisSiggie Oh wow- I am not sure how I missed your sweet comment- but WOW thank you!!! It feels so indescribably good to know that the boatload of pain I went through for years is now bringing that same measure (if not hopefully more) of help to other people!!! Thanks!

  • i wish you were my therapist..

  • @rossamorena You are so sweet! I just saw this comment. Hey I can be your coach :) I can relate to going to therapy for this topic and not getting much that was helpful. Hopefully I can continue to support you and you can sort of internalize my voice and talk to yourself in the same ways that feel really helpful! I have to say I love your comment it really made me smile-not sure how I missed it... thanks!

  • Josielenore, I love love love you. Will you marry me?

    :))

No joking... thank you. from the bottom of my hearth <3

  • @dhyanmandana Ha! You are welcome from the bottom of mine! And yes...how does June sound? :)

  • I have an embarrassing question! What if your compulsion to eat is so strong that you haven't let yourself get to a stage of feeling hungry? How do you stop eating long enough to actually feel hunger? I seem to have left the 'restriction' part of the cycle behind and I'm just in a continual state of binging.

  • @misslilycherry That is a GREAT question! If you aren't restricting its really likely that you are going to benefit from soothing one of the other types of non-hunger eating. If you have a high amount of 'licking your wounds' eating (feeling stuck, powerless, depressed) and/or 'mean girl munchies' (anxious, stressed, critical) once you learn how to soothe those the binging will relax and it will be easier/safer to let yourself feel hungry. That puts a fire under me to get those vids out!

  • @josielenore Thank you josie, I'm looking forward to your next videos! I thought of another question, how on earth do you organise your food shopping when your eating intuitively, and when you have a family?

  • I love your videos. glad you made some new ones! I agree 100% with everything you've discussed and advice you've given. I will be giving you a "shout out" soon on my own channel because you're too awesome to keep a secret! lol

  • @OliveGirlNY Oh wow thank you! Wow send me a link to your video where you give me the shout out! That is so incredibly exciting- its my goal to get this message to every one who fights with food- so I am floored that you are helping!!!

  • Hey, the video is spot on. I was wondering where soft drinks and other drinks fit in? Thanks...keep the videos coming.

  • @nigerianflower Great question!! thanks for the kind words!! I'll answer it at length in the follow up vid but quickly... drinking sugar between hungers can mute your hunger signal so while you are ramping up I say have your sugared drinks when you're hungry w your food. Diet drinks...that's a whole other deal. I used to drink tons of diet soda, now (from step 5) realize that artificial sweeteners mess with me..they made me crave sugar intensely so I don't want them now- hope this helps!

  • I just love, love, love your videos!!

Your wordsmake me feel like :

    1) I am not alone, I am not crazy (what a relief);

    2) there is an healthy, easy, guilt-free way to eat and LIVE, and

    3) thank God I found you.

  • @dhyanmandana WOW THANK YOU!!!! Such nice kind supportive loving words..and int a list to boot..I'm sure you've noticed how I fancy a list! :) Ah you are SO not alone and SO not crazy...isn't it like the biggest hug in the world when you realize that!! And yes you can eat and live guilt free and healthy!! Oh this really made my day thanks so much!!!

  • Thanks again for an amazing, helpful video josie! Was just wondering if you could link some of the most valuable research you found in your search to conquer emotional eating (specifically emotional as thats my biggest problem!) as I'd love to read up on things more. Thanks!

  • @waheyehaw Ah a fellow research junkie like myself! Yes, I will link to it on my blog which is still in the very early developmental stages. It is definitely on my list of things to do so thanks for the comment I will bump it up higher on the list :)

  • also can you eat at night if you get hungry or do you just wait till the morning

  • @jokerjelly Absolutely- if you are hungry at night you can eat and still get and stay thin. Cool right?!

  • by eating intuitively is it possible to get to a bmi below 18.5, if the weight you want to be is below healthy weight?

  • @xCowsCanFly Hmm...I'm not too familiar w bmi's but I know that you can get quite lean listening to your hunger...when you say "healthy weight" are you saying a weight in one of those height/weight charts or one that supports your body?

  • @josielenore one of those charts. :)

  • Can't think of the right questions yet but I will let you know

  • People who have health issues will react a bit different to these hunger related guidelines, for example if a person has sugar sensitivity indulging in that cookie will only bring about more cravings = more calories consumed. Something like insulin resistance begins to rely on carbs and sugar has the energy source and therefore you're always prompted to eat that thing that will MAKE you unhealthy and fat

  • i still don't understand how you don't have 10s of thousands of subscribers. your videos are by far the most intelligent and relevant on the topic of lifestyle choices that i've watched. i'm doing my part to spread the word. i truly believe that the information that you provide can be liberating for many, if embraced. THANK YOU SO SO MUCH!

  • So...I could eat cookies 24/7. It's all I want. Should I just go for it until I've "released" them so much that I'm sick of them?

  • thank you!

should i record what i eat? and nutritional values?

  • well im at a healthy weight right now but theres parts of my body i really dont like so i want to lose 10 pounds so ill still be at a healthy weight just lower will this help me or will it just keep me at my weight? Also do you work out at all and does working out just speed up the weight loss?

  • i hit "like" right after you said i should

  • @draikkk Ah perfect! Does that mean I'm not the only one whose ever done that!? :)

  • OMG. i totally had "that day" yesterday when I was thinking "i'm going to eat all this chocolate cake so that its not there tomorrow and i can stop the battle!" you're a mindreader=] thankfully ( or not) i ended up throwing it out so i could stop the battle...will try these techniques to be able to keep cake in the house for more than three days without going crazy!!! thank you so much for your vids, super helpful!!!

  • @jnkawahatsu Ah I think so many of us have "that day"!! Sounds like you took great care of yourself in that situation. Here's to the day when you find a hard dry crusty chocolate cake cuz you COMPLETELY forgot about it...my "first" was a frozen coconut cake (which used to be my UBER kryptonite food)...I had completely forgot about and found it all frost bitten in the freezer..I seriously got tears in my eyes it was the day I realized, "Holy cheesecake I think I've made peace with food!" :D

  • @josielenore love it!!! i totally envy my friends that can dig around in their purse and pull out week old cookies ( gross haha) because they FORGOT them. i NEVER forget food thats with me. =] will work on it!

also, if i'm not hungry in the mornings or if i am hungry late at night, should I just eat? I know there are all those food "myths" and i'm just wondering if its better for my body to just try to eat first thing in the morning and such. thanks for your help

  • @jnkawahatsu Great question! Will definitely add that one...quick answer: our body knows best..just like how it heals a cut without us knowing anything about the process...it knows when we need fuel morning, noon or night. My eating is the exact opposite of diet-logic..I'm rarely hungry in the morning and want something substantial at night :) In fact I prefer sweets at night cuz like I said in the vid if they give me fuzzy brain it won't ruin my workday!

  • @josielenore right! I was never a morning eater and everybody around me kept saying: "breakfast is the most important meal of the day!" I just feel literally sick when I eat a regular size meal in the morning!

  • @jnkawahatsu omg, that's exactly! what I do. I'll eat the entire bag of hot cheetos so that I won't have to struggle w/restricting myself today or the next day, as you say, ending the battle! But that hasn't helped me lose weight because i'll go out and buy another bag.

  • i love all of your videos! you are so intelligent and interesting to watch! hahaha keep on making more videos <333 Oh and can you eat anything you want the whole day and if its like lets say 1200-1500 calories, will you still lose weight?

  • @SydneeSwim8 Thank you that is so incredibly kind of you to say!! Great question..I will add it to my list...but for the quick answer here...eating when you are hungry will naturally have you consuming the exact # of calories you need to get to your ideal lean weight...our bodies want to be lean (look at all animals in the wild) and requires less fuel when we have more "reserve" (i.e. fat)...so you will be hungry for the perfect # of calories without ANY math :) and get and stay lean.
