Honestly i really like is series. But this on. But this car is just horrible. A nice sporty cabriolet car should have long front and shorter rear base. This car have the same length front and the rear wheel base which make the car too propotional and ugly. Lexus should have to redesign this IS rather than just chop the top off and cover it with a nice convertible system.
At any rate, Lexus didnt make the convertible models to be show stoppers nor high potent power houses, they kept it strickly affordable and reliable, which isnt a bad thing at all, however, the VW Eos throws a curveball with a sunroof and that tight european suspension work that only Germans can master. the guy at the dealership said if i pay sticker price he would let me taste his asshole...i took this as a bad thing and left ......( after tasting it )
What about the trunk capacity? I know that with fold up convertibles you can't expect much but the sebring convertible has problems with the trunk top closing reliably and it has a similar looking mechanism. I hope Lexus got it right.
lol dude I own this car man.. Fun to drive and fast.. okay talk about speed you can change a few thing to improve by adding cold air intake and f-perform exhaust.. this will give the is350c 0-60 in just 5.5 with rollout will be around 5.3 so it's still a fast car... what else can u ask for?
the rear is ugly!!! lexus should of just made a coupe...and later made it into an isf coupe lighter then the sedan. How do you turn a 4door into a 2 door hard top and it still over 380lb heavier and slower. lexus really dropped the ball with this one
Good car, but priced to compete against the BMW 335 and Audi S5 converrtible. All of a sudden it's not that good. Lexus should have kept the price lower than those cars
If you want me to say it "infinti rules!!!! its the best car company. Better than ferrari, lambo, porsche." But its untrue in reality. You need to come out of the cave and think outside the box. Dont just say inifniti is better without providing reasons why.

You sound like a 14 year old who is new to the car industry. Its clear because all you consider is the "horsepower". Audi, bmw, mercedes dont need to add the horsepower. And dont forget that horsepower isnt the only factor that determines the 0-60 time. There are so many others like design, aerodynamics and weight of the car.
lexus is wank,I own a 430sc and the arseholes at lexus are now saying they will no longer offer towing on breakdowns with platinum cover, they took my money though and after arguing they gave me 3 year of aaa.customer service is a fuckin joke

I can gaurentee you that you will find more GM cars like pontiac and saturn than Infiniti. (Look where GM is now)--- LOL LExus offers quality cars with a well prestigious brand name. I think you got it mixed up. Lexus> Infiniti. The majority of the people would purchase a lexus. And just because this review said infiniti is so good doesnt mean anything. I have test driven both cars and from my experience i can say that the lexus is better. My argument is a unbiased approach while you seem to to very biased
" Lexus offers the cheapest entry class cars out of any other luxury brand. "
You got it mixed up again. Infiniti offers the cheapest entry class cars in performance. LExus is not an entry level car anymore. What do you think this is 1990s?
People who have a infinti will buy a higher end car next time they buy a car like bmw, merecedes and lexus but it is VERY RARE to see someone owning a bmw, lexus. merecedes downgrading to a infiniti if they have the same job. And about quality and "beating it in the longer run" lexus has one of the best quality. Go look at the percentage of people selling their lexus to people selling infiniti in your local used car section. People dont sell their lexus cuz its reliable.
And also LExus sales being on top doesnt mean anyone can afford one. COmpare the inifniti/nissan depreciation to Lexus/toyotas. Toyota and lexus hold their value, have higher quality. If performance and handling is all your looking for in a car go no further than the BMW. BMW and LEXUS> INFINITI
Uh, what convertible is then worth the price since they are all more expensive than their hardtop non-convertible counterpart? If you hate convertibles, just say so instead of saying something so utterly retarded ok?
did this guy just say this car was not a head turner? To me that looks like they went back to old style is coupe which is definitley in a class of its own. This guy needs to turn his head again. This car is HOT !
GM's 3.8 litter push rod V6 in G6 WAS a fantastic engine, but is waaaay over due. They call GXP or SS(for new Impala) with a supercharger saying how sweet, but... 1992 Pontiac Bonneville SSEi and Buick ParkAvenue Ultra/Rivera had Almost same 3.8 supercharged engine... GM was still good 15-20yrs ago, but became sneaky like that in recent years. Sure a little upgrade is good, but can't beat the entirely new vehicle like Lexus IS. No offense. I currently own 95 Impala SS, T-bird SC, and Ram 4x4.
id take a infiniti G37 convertible over this any day, the 3 series convertible is pretty, but it looks akward, they shulda stayed w/ the soft top, only 2 seaters look good w/ a folding hardtop IMHO
looks too much like the sc430 which was a chicks car.
^
If it looked like the SC it wud actually look better
this a chicks car? : tinyurl[.]com/sc430ballin
I have it and I get compliments from all types ppl everywhere igo
I call it a sex magnet. All the good cars get stupid hate comments like that lol. Girls pause when I have the high beams on with drop top or down at nite or day all the time. The SC is 65k$ the IS Cs start at 38k. The SC is a grand tourer, this is a entry luxury convertible.
I agree that it looks too much like the SC, which is a chick car. But when you think about it, as fun as convertibles are, what convertible _isn't_ feminine. Even the Corvette is a little emasculated by the drop top, no?
there is no IS coupe, and there hasn't been one out for a few years either. the only coupe lexus has had in the last few years is the SC, and its a convertible too.
Lexus did an amazing job at this Hardtop convertible, and they sure did their homework, cause compared with BMW 335 convertible adds a wopping 430lbs compared with their coupe model. Lexus did a better job with only 380lbs, also, the hardtop operation are much faster when compared with the BMW. Good job Lexus can't wait for them to come out with it
Na... the reason why the Lexus a bit bigger at the rearend is because Lexus wants to have usable trunk space even when the top is down, unlike the BMW is has useless trunk space when top is down.
^ tru that. the SC is way better..I get compliments daily when I drive mines. I'm not even interested in this model, it looks Ok but not what you would expect from a drop top Lex.
Eh, Okay. I'd redesign it. It's kinda bland. I mean, We're trying to get new innovative ideas. Thats one of the reasons GM is failing. They need new designers. I like the new genesis coupe myself.
what an ugly butt... It looks like the 90's cars convertible : big butts ( to hide the roof) and small wheels... quite unbalanced with the front, don't you think?
coolerdude44 you really take you information from jeremy clarkson the guy that could even give the right number of liters in the mustang engine and is infamous for bashing american car even if their good cars that guy haha you make me laugh alot top gear is good entertaining just that nothing more
I personally would get a BMW 328i Convertible. However, this is much better than the SC430, which was too expensive for what it was: a Glorified Toyota Solara!
wow i see ur point but lexus is leaning a helll of alot closer to mercedes!!! and SUV wise theve pretty much luxurified the toyota heads (rx=striking remeblance to Prado//Rav) u made good points but lexus is still a truly stunning brand.........for the costs its a great deal.....they dont brag bout being the fastest cause there no..the do exactly what they say and thats enough inmy opinion..also people comparing it to faster cars..like half u clowns can even afford faster cars!! or even this one
dude lexus was literally caught copying the bmw m3 with the is-f. and guess what? the is-f still sucks! it always comes in 4th in magazine comparison tests of hot small sedans. this car is just like the bmw 3 series convertible, only lexus figured a way to make it more quiet. that's what they always do. copy bmw, then make it slightly more luxurious.
lexus is like a cross between bmw and mercedes, with a hint of jaguar thrown in for good measure.
it's literally been proven that all lexus does is copy. in fact, all the japanese do is copy, then make it more affordable and slightly more reliable. look at the nissan gtr, the nissan altima, mazda 6, lexus is f, nissan skyline, and toyota harrier (or as you know it, lexus rx).
all of these cars are almost identical mechanically to their rivals from bmw, porsche, volkswagen, and mercedes. for instance: drive an early 90s lexus ls and a mercedes s-class. they will be eerily similar.
lol. Actually, I DID know that the Infiniti G37 is a Nissan Skyline in Japan. Notice I said it started off as the Skyline GT-R but the new generation is just the GT-R...
Doesn't that basically state that yes, I know its a different car, yet it started as the same car...
And we've owned many Nissan's, but not an Altima. So I can't say anything about them, but the Maxima is a really good car.
Nissan may not be a "BMW" or whatever you see in that (if I must say so) unreliable company. However, they are the (IMO) best Japanese cars you can buy when it comes to driving experience, dynamics, etc.
Germany= BMW is first.
Japan= Nissan is first.
America= Any input?
And it wouldn't just be Japanese companies copying Germans, or vice-versa. American companies would also copy, and i'm sure that German vehicles have copied Japanese and American.
bmw is far from an unreliable company. my friend has owned 4 (2 3-series', a 530i, and an x5) and he considers them to be the most reliable cars he ever owned (especially compared to his volvos, mercs, and jeeps). and not only that, but they're also very good car. the anti-lock brakes will NEVER cut in too soon. the steering is as direct as you can get from a sedan, and the suspension manages make the car handle well, yet still be comfortable. they're the only company that has all these traits.
Whats unreliable about a Nissan they have less recalls and problems than Toyota. Besides that they've been taking awards for the best v6s for years. besides that I can find atleast 10 random Nissan's within a weeks time with well over 350k miles so whats unreliable about that???
The only thing I can really think of would be the 350z which had lots of corky problems because it was designed here and there and there rather sloppy but the G didn't have problems nor will the 370z
My mom's 2000 Maxima has 160k miles on it and there has never ever been one single problem with it. My dad's old 86 hardbody had 345k miles on it when we sold it. We only had to replace the head gasket or something? And the a/c was broken. But this was in 2003... Two problems in 17 years. There are Nissan's everywhere.
When I see poorer people driving old, run down cars, 7 out of 10 times, it'll be a Nissan rather than a Honda or Toyota.
Well my 240sx had 198k miles before its sr20 swap and my friend's car had 260+k miles so ya.
I was planning on buying a crew cab frontier two years ago. I'm a auto dealer's son so I have access to Copart (salvage auctions) I would see tons of frontiers with 300k+ miles I saw maybe 7-8 hard bodies with ONE FRIKEN MILLION miles or in the 900s and a few 700k, 800k
Anyways sadly at that time a rolled frontier with over 150k miles was selling for $5-7k and that cost alot to fix.
maybe it's good from a reliability standpoint, but as a car, the maxima is nowhere near "good". i have never driven one, but i am going to apply common sense. put 300 horsepower into a car with front wheel drive and is 20 feet long without fitting a trick diff or a revoknuckle like ford did with the rs focus, and you get something that torquesteers like crazy in a straight line, and understeers through the corners.
i have no idea why nissan doesn't make it rwd or 4wd.
I think they don't make it RWD because of the G37. But the new one supposedly all the torque steer cut out of it so it handles very well, and reviews have shown Nissan isn't lying.
But our 2000 Maxima is a great car.
And I'm not bashing BMW! They do make very good cars, they are built very well, I'm not going to deny that. (And Infiniti's are favored second to them, based on multiple reviews).
So the Maxima actually is a really good car. Just drive one.
i really can't listen to american reviews anymore. they have proved very unreliable in the past. read an american review and you are led to believe that a mustang is a great car. read a british review, and they say the complete opposite, especially about the handling.
for instance: american reviewers praised the infiniti fx50, jeremy clarkson called it one of the worst cars he ever drove.
I'm sure that's true. But i'm sure Germans have copied some American and Japanese somewhere along the lines. You don't have to believe that BMW did it, but what about Mercedes or VW (Audi)
and i disagree that nissan is the best japanese brand. i have owned both japanese and german brands, and i think nissan is the worst actually. my experience shows that they're gearboxes are too clunky, the reliability is inconsistent among their cars, and they are far too loud.
from personal experience, the best are mazda and subaru.
i currently own a 2004 mazda 6, and it's an epic car for the money. i had an 06 altima, and that car was simply a dog.
and, i am thinking about it very hard, i don't think the germans ever had any need to copy the americans. in the car world, america is laughed upon and germany is hailed as the best, so why would they?
in the 90s though, they did research how lexus made their cars so reliable. that's the only good thing lexus did. it really embarrassed the germans in the reliability and customer service aspects.
but, no, germany has never had any need to copy outsiders, really.
Lexus sucks? Excuse me... have you heard of the IS F? 416 horsepower and 0-60 in 4.6? Oh yea it also is one gorgeous car. Plus it is only 56700. Lexus sucks. YEP
A nice car for a lady in her 40's. It is a very nice car, however that is the consumer I think would be interested in a car like this. Or, possibly a younger female but it's not bold enough for a guy.
Lexus as a fact is known for comfort in seats and smooth driving!

At any rate, Lexus didnt make the convertible models to be show stoppers nor high potent power houses, they kept it strickly affordable and reliable, which isnt a bad thing at all, however, the VW Eos throws a curveball with a sunroof and that tight european suspension work that only Germans can master. The saving graces for the 250C is the price and the Lexus name/build quality, im not taking anything away from the brand, but you do have other options, very good other options.

And let me quote.
Infiniti is the new "BMW" and that's coming from a BMW owner, Everyone owns one! Im looking to trade mine in soon.

Arguably worse than a Pontiac G6 convertible with the top up...
bigantelopeman 2 years ago
Lexus IS is a RWD car. It costs more to build RWD, and drive as car it should. If you want, you could put Lexus ISF engine to it.
bluebearbank247 2 years ago
I understand what you're saying, I was just being sarcastic. The G6 was half-assed and so is this IS C in my opinion.
bigantelopeman 2 years ago

I like the G37 better. This looks a bit too much like a Solara.

Sc430s also on the norm last 400+k miles. A dream for a benz, bmw or audi.lol

I agree that it looks too much like the SC, which is a chick car. But when you think about it, as fun as convertibles are, what convertible _isn't_ feminine. Even the Corvette is a little emasculated by the drop top, no?

Lexus did an amazing job at this Hardtop convertible, and they sure did their homework, cause compared with BMW 335 convertible adds a wopping 430lbs compared with their coupe model. Lexus did a better job with only 380lbs, also, the hardtop operation are much faster when compared with the BMW. Good job Lexus can't wait for them to come out with it
koukiR32 2 years ago
but the bmw's convertibe looks so amazing when it hides and comes out. its like a transformer or sumting.
looks very artistic. i have to admit.
hen555 2 years ago
Na... the reason why the Lexus a bit bigger at the rearend is because Lexus wants to have usable trunk space even when the top is down, unlike the BMW is has useless trunk space when top is down.

great, if you had no idea that all lexus does is copy bmw (if you couldn't tell from the gs, is, rx, and is f) than this is the proof.
coolerdude44 2 years ago
wow i see ur point but lexus is leaning a helll of alot closer to mercedes!!! and SUV wise theve pretty much luxurified the toyota heads (rx=striking remeblance to Prado//Rav) u made good points but lexus is still a truly stunning brand.........for the costs its a great deal.....they dont brag bout being the fastest cause there no..the do exactly what they say and thats enough inmy opinion..also people comparing it to faster cars..like half u clowns can even afford faster cars!! or even this one
SengDancing 2 years ago
dude lexus was literally caught copying the bmw m3 with the is-f. and guess what? the is-f still sucks! it always comes in 4th in magazine comparison tests of hot small sedans. this car is just like the bmw 3 series convertible, only lexus figured a way to make it more quiet. that's what they always do. copy bmw, then make it slightly more luxurious.
lexus is like a cross between bmw and mercedes, with a hint of jaguar thrown in for good measure.
coolerdude44 2 years ago
it's literally been proven that all lexus does is copy. in fact, all the japanese do is copy, then make it more affordable and slightly more reliable. look at the nissan gtr, the nissan altima, mazda 6, lexus is f, nissan skyline, and toyota harrier (or as you know it, lexus rx).
all of these cars are almost identical mechanically to their rivals from bmw, porsche, volkswagen, and mercedes. for instance: drive an early 90s lexus ls and a mercedes s-class. they will be eerily similar.
coolerdude44 2 years ago
Are you saying that German cars are the only things that are original and domestics and Japanese aren't? Are you joking?
And what car does the Nissan Altima go against with those German companies? Maybe the Passat...
And the Nissan Skyline and GT-R are sort-of the same car. The GT-R started as the Skyline, but it's just "GT-R" with the new generation.
wazambonidriver 2 years ago
you know absolutely nothing considering that you don't know that the nissan skyline is what the infiniti g35 is rebadged as in america.
today the gtr and the skyline are two completely different cars.
and yes, the altima (the 05 and 06 ones anyway) is identical to the passatt, especially when you sit inside the two.
of course, the altima was worse. i know because i unfortunately owned one.
coolerdude44 2 years ago
So I can't say anything about them, but the Maxima is a really good car.
wazambonidriver 2 years ago
Nissan may not be a "BMW" or whatever you see in that (if I must say so) unreliable company. However, they are the (IMO) best Japanese cars you can buy when it comes to driving experience, dynamics, etc.
Germany= BMW is first.
Japan= Nissan is first.
America= Any input?
And it wouldn't just be Japanese companies copying Germans, or vice-versa. American companies would also copy, and i'm sure that German vehicles have copied Japanese and American.
wazambonidriver 2 years ago
bmw is far from an unreliable company. my friend has owned 4 (2 3-series', a 530i, and an x5) and he considers them to be the most reliable cars he ever owned (especially compared to his volvos, mercs, and jeeps). and not only that, but they're also very good car. the anti-lock brakes will NEVER cut in too soon. the steering is as direct as you can get from a sedan, and the suspension manages make the car handle well, yet still be comfortable. they're the only company that has all these traits.
coolerdude44 2 years ago
Whats unreliable about a Nissan they have less recalls and problems than Toyota. Besides that they've been taking awards for the best v6s for years. besides that I can find atleast 10 random Nissan's within a weeks time with well over 350k miles so whats unreliable about that???
The only thing I can really think of would be the 350z which had lots of corky problems because it was designed here and there and there rather sloppy but the G didn't have problems nor will the 370z
arabrockerman 2 years ago 2
My mom's 2000 Maxima has 160k miles on it and there has never ever been one single problem with it. My dad's old 86 hardbody had 345k miles on it when we sold it. We only had to replace the head gasket or something? And the a/c was broken. But this was in 2003... Two problems in 17 years. There are Nissan's everywhere.
When I see poorer people driving old, run down cars, 7 out of 10 times, it'll be a Nissan rather than a Honda or Toyota.
wazambonidriver 2 years ago
Well my 240sx had 198k miles before its sr20 swap and my friend's car had 260+k miles so ya.
I was planning on buying a crew cab frontier two years ago. I'm a auto dealer's son so I have access to Copart (salvage auctions) I would see tons of frontiers with 300k+ miles I saw maybe 7-8 hard bodies with ONE FRIKEN MILLION miles or in the 900s and a few 700k, 800k
Anyways sadly at that time a rolled frontier with over 150k miles was selling for $5-7k and that cost alot to fix.
arabrockerman 2 years ago
maybe it's good from a reliability standpoint, but as a car, the maxima is nowhere near "good". i have never driven one, but i am going to apply common sense. put 300 horsepower into a car with front wheel drive and is 20 feet long without fitting a trick diff or a revoknuckle like ford did with the rs focus, and you get something that torquesteers like crazy in a straight line, and understeers through the corners.
i have no idea why nissan doesn't make it rwd or 4wd.
coolerdude44 2 years ago
I think they don't make it RWD because of the G37. But the new one supposedly all the torque steer cut out of it so it handles very well, and reviews have shown Nissan isn't lying.
But our 2000 Maxima is a great car.
And I'm not bashing BMW! They do make very good cars, they are built very well, I'm not going to deny that. (And Infiniti's are favored second to them, based on multiple reviews).
So the Maxima actually is a really good car. Just drive one.
And I've heard bad BMW stuff.
wazambonidriver 2 years ago
i really can't listen to american reviews anymore. they have proved very unreliable in the past. read an american review and you are led to believe that a mustang is a great car. read a british review, and they say the complete opposite, especially about the handling.
for instance: american reviewers praised the infiniti fx50, jeremy clarkson called it one of the worst cars he ever drove.
coolerdude44 2 years ago
and for the record, the germans tend to copy also, but they copy other germans.
for example, the audi rs4 and mercedes c63 amg are just as much copies of the m3 as the is-f.
well, not just as much. lexus literally took the m3 apart when designing the is-f, and merc and audi did not. but they did copy the idea.
coolerdude44 2 years ago
I'm sure that's true. But i'm sure Germans have copied some American and Japanese somewhere along the lines. You don't have to believe that BMW did it, but what about Mercedes or VW (Audi)
Give it some thought.
wazambonidriver 2 years ago
and i disagree that nissan is the best japanese brand. i have owned both japanese and german brands, and i think nissan is the worst actually. my experience shows that they're gearboxes are too clunky, the reliability is inconsistent among their cars, and they are far too loud.
from personal experience, the best are mazda and subaru.
i currently own a 2004 mazda 6, and it's an epic car for the money. i had an 06 altima, and that car was simply a dog.
coolerdude44 2 years ago
and, i am thinking about it very hard, i don't think the germans ever had any need to copy the americans. in the car world, america is laughed upon and germany is hailed as the best, so why would they?
in the 90s though, they did research how lexus made their cars so reliable. that's the only good thing lexus did. it really embarrassed the germans in the reliability and customer service aspects.
but, no, germany has never had any need to copy outsiders, really.
coolerdude44 2 years ago

why buy a japanese copy when you can buy the real thing from europe?
