What Shelby has done is take the spec from the original 65 Cobra and build them in modern time. As for price it will run you for a 427 Cobra like the one in the Video not quite sure because the Chassis are build with body and full suspension,brakes, and wheels but no motor you can either buy motor from Shelby and have them install or third party.
I couldn't pick between the two. Both are amazing cars and the guy at the end of the video couldn't have said it better. Cobra would be a fun weekend car to drive if the weather allowed it since the cobra didn't come with a hard top.

I've heard both cars, in person. The 427 sounds like two V8's. Pure nasty beast. Driving the Super Snake as a daily driver, not really. As a weekend toy, I'd go with the 427.

No traction/stability/launch control. No ABS, no airbag or roof. The Cobra is a true professional driver's car. The GT500 SuperSnake is everything a mid level CFO at a fortune 500 could want but in the end he can drive it in the rain and take his kids to school in it.
@idrpgt the boss is built specifically as a track car. it is lighter, and better balanced. it even come with a roll cage. the gt500 is more of an all around car, but mainly built for straight line racing.
They're both bad ass cars. I wouldn't be able to choose which one I'd rather have even if I had a gun to my head. I'd have to say, "Both!". :) But that's just me, mainly because I drive a Saturn and never got close to driving something so powerful.
Did anyone notice that the Cobra had the same tires for both events while the Mustang switched to slicks for the drag race? I'll bet the Cobra would've blown the doors off of the Mustang at the drag strip more than it did at Mazda Raceway if they had given it slicks as well, just to make the test fair.

@DevPack, then it would have been fair test. Who would commute with slicks anyway? The big selling point in the video is that the Mustang is as fast as a Cobra but with modern creature comforts. If they have to cheat to make it true, then it's not a good comparison and unnecessarily slandering the Cobra.
It still wasn't a fair comparison because of the change made to the Mustang and not the Cobra, regardless of how sticky the Cobra's tires were to begin with.
Additionally, they can't change the setup of either car between tracks and claim one is better than the other without addressing those condition changes.

A car with 45 years of technological advancements and an additional 250hp still can't beat the Cobra's lap time. That's why the original car is a legend. @need2speed94 a bone stock zo6 do not run 11.02 with the best driver (even on street tires) if that was the case, that would make it fast than a zr1. the new zo6 run something like 11.6. the muscle cars of this age weights 3500~4200 lbs, thus need more power to get them to those times. its the same for the new lt1 580hp, gt500 550hp, and the srt8 challanger. imo the vette is the best america has to offer, but the classic characteristics of a mustang defines what it is. ppl like it or they dont

@blackcrisis2004 Well, as much as I love my LS1, there are much better LS powerplants with more potential and newer technology... LS7 is by far my favorite and by my book has the most potential. CTS-V's are monsters, they dragged a CTS-V against a 2010 GT500 stock for stock and the GT500 lost lol.
I would like to see the supersnake go up against a 2012 mustang GT with the street edlbrock Echarger. I think it would be a good race, the GT500 is heaver so I think the GT supercharged would give it a good run. just a thought. and the GT is half the price even with the supercharger add on.
Slicks on a 700+HP car and it ran 11.16? Ouch... you do get a ton of horsepower for how much these go for, but it doesn't mean Sh*t when this heavy bastard can't put it to the ground. I thought maybe slicks would help (considering the stock tires have stiff sidewalls and don't bite at all), but I guess even slicks can't help this Tank. Maybe a solid axle, rear mount tranny, and a DIET hah. Ford,SVT,Shelby definitely needs to go back to the drawing board and work on aspects besides power.

Cobra 4.47 pounds per horsepower. Super Snake 5.33 pounds per horsepower. and if i were to put it into an example that every idiot could understand.. if the cars were 5 horsepower go karts, the weight difference would be about 4 pounds.

I've heard both cars, in person. The 427 sounds like two V8's. Pure nasty beast. Driving the Super Snake as a daily driver, not really. As a weekend toy, I'd go with the 427.

@idrpgt the boss is built specifically as a track car. it is lighter, and better balanced. it even come with a roll cage. the gt500 is more of an all around car, but mainly built for straight line racing.

Did anyone notice that the Cobra had the same tires for both events while the Mustang switched to slicks for the drag race? I'll bet the Cobra would've blown the doors off of the Mustang at the drag strip more than it did at Mazda Raceway if they had given it slicks as well, just to make the test fair.

@DevPack, then it would have been fair test. Who would commute with slicks anyway? The big selling point in the video is that the Mustang is as fast as a Cobra but with modern creature comforts. If they have to cheat to make it true, then it's not a good comparison and unnecessarily slandering the Cobra.

You idiots. First of all, the Cobra wasn't built to be a drag car. It was built to beat the shit out of Ferrari on road courses, which many drivers consider to be real racing. The notion that the Super Snake could be more "bad ass" than the Cobra is ridiculous as well. A car with 45 years of technological advancements and an additional 250hp still can't beat the Cobra's lap time. That's why the original car is a legend. The Super Snake is just an overweight Mustang with a blower.

Now for being about 250hp short and utilizing very crappy tires that came with the car, I'd say that's a damn good time. 750hp running 11.16? or supposedly 10.18? How ever much it costs... it's definitely not worth the straight line performance, need I go into the performance around a track LMAO XD. Not Shelby's greatest accomplishment...

@need2speed94 a bone stock zo6 do not run 11.02 with the best driver (even on street tires) if that was the case, that would make it fast than a zr1. the new zo6 run something like 11.6. the muscle cars of this age weights 3500~4200 lbs, thus need more power to get them to those times. its the same for the new lt1 580hp, gt500 550hp, and the srt8 challanger. imo the vette is the best america has to offer, but the classic characteristics of a mustang defines what it is. ppl like it or they dont

@need2speed94 lol, my bad, LS1. i feel where you are coming from on this gt500. u win on the turns but its not gona get too much faster at about 3850 lbs. the weight this thing has is what make it what it is, a muscle car. can ford make a lighter version, the ford gt is about 3450 lbs the gt500 is a full sized 4 passenger car. the cts-v is a different monster @ 4250 lbs. but it would be great if ford could some how lose a few houndred pounds and fix that power to ground issue for the 2013 model.

I would like to see the supersnake go up against a 2012 mustang GT with the street edlbrock Echarger. I think it would be a good race, the GT500 is heaver so I think the GT supercharged would give it a good run. just a thought. and the GT is half the price even with the supercharger add on.

Slicks on a 700+HP car and it ran 11.16? Ouch... you do get a ton of horsepower for how much these go for, but it doesn't mean Sh*t when this heavy bastard can't put it to the ground. I thought maybe slicks would help (considering the stock tires have stiff sidewalls and don't bite at all), but I guess even slicks can't help this Tank. Maybe a solid axle, rear mount tranny, and a DIET hah. Ford,SVT,Shelby definitely needs to go back to the drawing board and work on aspects besides power.

To everybody that says power to weight ratio is way off and the cobra weighs a lot less you fail to mention that it also has 200 less hp then the super snake. and when you calculate the power to weight ratio, its not that far off. Cobra 4.47 pounds per horsepower. Super Snake 5.33 pounds per horsepower. and if i were to put it into an example that every idiot could understand.. if the cars were 5 horsepower go karts, the weight difference would be about 4 pounds.
