  • Never mind :-) Thank you for answering.

  • Dear sumiregusa23, thank you for this upload. Would you please tell me something about the recording (choir, conductor, release date) and about the picture, too? I'm very moved by this image of an angel whose face is not to be seen - only the gesture speaking.

    Kind regards :-)

  • Oh my. I'm sorry. This is propably the first and the only case when I can't give you the info you want. I found it few years ago by accident on the internet and I don't know who recorded it.

  • Danke, Hesse.Danke Bach

  • What kind of idiot can dislike THIS???

  • @muurtalo

I can, because i think the interpretation is lame and boring.

I mean, of course, everbody can sing quiet and slowly. But where is the Interpretation?

im so sorry, i def dislike this xD

    listen and understand ;)

  • @MasterTraktor

Hello MasterTraktor. Let's agree that different people like different interpretations. I also like this version a bit better because it feels distinct and (what's more important to me) ... monumental. It's not that your version is lame or something, I like the dynamics there too. But again in my opinion "over-interpretation" can be a problem as well. Especially with Bach.

Merci.

  • Bach is the heaven expresed in music!

  • Wonderful, thank you for uploading.

  • :D

  • This will play when I die.

  • God bless all of you

  • this will be for my funeral, for sure!

  • @McGwinn This, i think - i feel, is written for the funeral of the whole mankind.

  • Sometimes it's easier to find God in the beauty of

the mountains, the sea or even the desert than in a church.

  • Up the mountains the cold can kill you, everybody up there knows that. You find a woman who likes you and you live. You lose that woman and you die. In today's

life you find internet accesses at 4.000 meters, but not everywhere. The same thing

happens with cellphones. I've heard there are satellite cellphones you can use to ask for help with. In the meanwhile, the cold works on you and you may still die.

  • I don't know much about Bach's life - yet. All I know is that he lived a very happy life

though steadily confronted with serious matters. You can say he's been able to

build cathedrals with his music as it is mostly very structured. I suggest to make a

good start by listening to "The Art of Fuge" - "Die Kunst der Fuge", then go through

Toccatas and Concerts. The organ is my favorite instrument, Bach my favorite componist. I myself am not a musician but I like very much to listen to.

  • Kein Tach ohne Bach - genial

  • The best Chorale Ever!! It dovetails nicely to the movie Schlafes Bruder!!

    Danke fürs Hochladen!!

  • ...waiting

  • Kein Tag ohne Bach!

  • *heul*

  • das ist einfach nur wunderbar :)

  • I have read the book "Schlafes Bruder"

    it's really sad =)

  • There´s a free remixed version from a demoscene music composer (called Virgil) it´s outstanding, because it keeps the essence with tech sounds. If you are interested, just google Komm oh Tod du Schlafes Bruder Virgil

  • As far as I know Bach's chorale is based upon Johann Crüger's hymn 'Du, o schönes Weltgebäude' (words by Johann Franck).

I like the rendition you have posted - many thanks!

  • was wäre die welt ohne die deutschen???

what would be the world without the germans???

    great nation!

  • Oh, Bach...

    When you'll stop surprising me?..

  • @drkmetal

This is one of the most beautiful comments, I've ever read about Bach-music!!

  • I sometimes think that Bach was not human.

  • I can understand that...

  • @halbfee That''s because God bestowed His grace on him!

  • Very moving music & words. Tell me about the angel.

  • Beautiful, isn't he? I love angels. I found that picture and I thought it will suits this chorale.

  • @sumiregusa23 This is the most beautiful angel I ever saw. It is so very moving and it fits wonderfully to the music. Complete surrender and total exhaustion cannot be shown any better than in this wonderful angel.

  • @unicoiunicorn The angel is a copy of the Cemetary statue for Emilyn (?) Story, an expatriate american living in Rome/Italy, and wife of the Sculptor Story.

  • @unicoiunicorn

I think that's the "Angel of Grief" in Rome...
