Dear sumiregusa23, thank you for this upload. Would you please tell me something about the recording (choir, conductor, release date) and about the picture, too? I'm very moved by this image of an angel whose face is not to be seen - only the gesture speaking.
Oh my. I'm sorry. This is propably the first and the only case when I can't give you the info you want. I found it few years ago by accident on the internet and I don't know who recorded it.
Hello MasterTraktor. Let's agree that different people like different interpretations. I also like this version a bit better because it feels distinct and (what's more important to me) ... monumental. It's not that your version is lame or something, I like the dynamics there too. But again in my opinion "over-interpretation" can be a problem as well. Especially with Bach.
Up the mountains the cold can kill you, everybody up there knows that. You find a woman who likes you and you live. You lose that woman and you die. In today's
life you find internet accesses at 4.000 meters, but not everywhere. The same thing
happens with cellphones. I've heard there are satellite cellphones you can use to ask for help with. In the meanwhile, the cold works on you and you may still die.
Watch for the meaning of God the movie "Schlafes Bruder" talks about.

@sumiregusa23 This is the most beautiful angel I ever saw. It is so very moving and it fits wonderfully to the music. Complete surrender and total exhaustion cannot be shown any better than in this wonderful angel.
@unicoiunicorn The angel is a copy of the Cemetary statue for Emilyn (?) Story, an expatriate american living in Rome/Italy, and wife of the Sculptor Story.
Never mind :-) Thank you for answering.

I don't know much about Bach's life - yet. All I know is that he lived a very happy life
though steadily confronted with serious matters. You can say he's been able to
build cathedrals with his music as it is mostly very structured. I suggest to make a
good start by listening to "The Art of Fuge" - "Die Kunst der Fuge", then go through
Toccatas and Concerts. The organ is my favorite instrument, Bach my favorite componist. I myself am not a musician but I like very much to listen to.

Für meinen Geschmack deutlich zu langsam
ch hab mal gelernt:
Grundsätzlich gilt im Barock:
- 2er-Takt: (2/2): Alla-breve -> schnell
- 3er-Takt: (3/4, 6/8, ...): schnell/bewegt/"beschwingt"
- 4er-Takt: (4/4): moderates Tempo
