@LilChuckyWoodenHead He was Vice President of ABC in the 50's, and for CBS the White House Correspondent, and was the first national radio reporter to announce the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941 - hardly a man who never did another damned thing.
I don't think Randolph was a dissappointment . . his parents did their best to raise him. He had some first rate qualities. How do you live and walk in the shadow of a great man like Churchhill?? Everything you do would be compared to him and found wanting . . .Winston definitely had his faults!!
Yes, i know for myself and i think others too, we were always so focused and attentive to what Lucy was doing, Desi's acting talent and timing were not as apparent. But the talent was definitely there. He was a wonderful actor--it would have been so apparent if he wasn't, being up against the talent of Lucy and the others as well who were right up there. Fred and Ethel were excellently cast.
this was in February 1956 so Desi would've been 38 b/c his b-day was in March.

He was born in 1911 so he was only 45 on this show. He looked more like 65. Must have lived a hard life. Drinking, smoking, etc.

Desi was always underrated-he was very talented and a great actor; just watch him in I Love Lucy.

this show would never have worked so good w/o John Charles Daly.

This must've been very early on 1956...Fred Allen died on March 17 of that year of a heart attack.

Maybe it's because I've never watched "I Love Lucy" very often, but I never realized Desi could be so funny on his own!

He certainly looks like his father.
