...the fluff is not his tail....ok ppl he's used it as a weapon before to grab inuyasha, but it's not a 'part' of him in that way, he got it from his father at a young age to show his royalty. his father also has one, if it was a tail you'd think most dog demons would have it, but they don't. so, no...i looked it up on alot of things, it's not a tail =]

Okay, here's the scoop. It is-in some senses and respects-his tail. He can use it as a weapon and he can detach it from his body in his humanoid form but he can't transform without it. HOWEVER...Inutaisho had a "double" tail or mokamoka as I think the term that was used to refer to the "tail".

Also, the mokamoka is merely a marking of power. Inutaisho was very powerful to have a "double" tail and Sesshomaru's markings are also a symbol of power. His twin-slash markings came from his mother but the twin-slash markings mean that he has power.

It's his tail. It's sort of like Koga's tail only fluffier(which is weird because real wolves have plumed tails where dogs have more whipy tails usually). His mother only has one slash by the way, so his two mean that he has double noble lineage and a lot of power. The cresent is from his father. The twin slashes and the cresent are signs of his noble birth and his extra-ordinary abilities as a 'perfect' daiyokai.

It's a part of his armor in that it's an extention of his youki. It's mostly a tail, as it IS attached. The anime goofs up. You never see it taken off of him in the manga. Also, it's a body part because sometimes you can see it bleed. The anime got that right in one of the movies.

I think the "Fluffy" thing comes from his dog form. I've always gotten that. He's Sesshomaru-sama or Sessho in human form and Fluffy in dog form.
