He's hardly an eskimo? I'm confused! Saw this on Reeling in the Years yesterday and thought the song had actually been about the former irish international footballer Niall Quinn! :-P

The song was written by Bob Dylan who said the inspiration for the song was actor Anthony Quinn playing an Eskimo in the 1960 movie The Savage Innocents. Although with Dylan it's always possible he's just screwing with our heads. :)
