  • Food much cheaper eh , not since the euro came in boys !

  • Thanks for this - the TOTP version cut off the last 90 seconds.

  • look at the linked stuff if anyone had told me i could find this stuff so easily 25 years ago i woulndt have bought all those records

  • Great song mon the motors mon the HOOPS

  • So up lifting yet so sadly emotive, how songs are supposed to be, with lyrics you can sing to, whether it brings back sad or happy memories, it just stirs up memories.

  • memories working in london played this all the time great times

  • A lot of the music that came out around 1977 to 1981 or so was called New Wave, remember? Most of these bands were one hit wonders, but this is a great song.

  • I remember this so well. I was living away from home and homesick but I still thought "FECKING BRILLIANT"!!!

  • Wow the music is as hurried as hustling through an International Terminal. The words perfectly portray a parting of a friend sprinkled with a sorrow. And the build up of the music to each verse is as though the jet-engine of an aircraft is revving up to lift off. A masterpiece of song that relates song lyrics to the situational arena. Totally Alive and Brilliant. Thanks.

  • I had the single to this back in the day. Great song. Still holds up.

  • one of the best feel good songs ever

  • I remember this great song form 1978, I was 13 years old then.

  • I was so little when this song was popular - not even six years old! I heard this on the radio at my hairdresser's today and it brought an enormous smile to my face because it took me straight back to my early childhood, when I'd fly my little metal Concorde toy around the living room to this song!

  • Fantastic tune! Loved it always! Have it for my ringtone on my phone.......what better??

  • love this song they could have been superstars if they kept up this level of quality

  • it seems that this song brings memories to all of us that we are over 40 years old !

half a million views are reconfirming it.

  • @fp1000100 damn right .....the music nowadays just seems copied and copied nothing is really origional now,,its all samples and ripped...even jefferson airpane was ripped and i hate it lol,,bring memories of kenny everitt when telly was great ,none of this regurgitated how many ways can we milk the same cow(come dine with me etc) telly ,even the generation game was brill with camp larry graceson lol

  • In my top 10 for sure, reminds me of driving past Birmingham Airport UK must have been late seventies early in the mornings and thinking about holidays.I never tire of it.

  • classic song

  • From The motor's (sic) greatest hits? As if, the song was first released on a greatest hits album? Funny how music and fans find each other... Banal, through and through.

  • why does this song bring so many memories to me? at a time when there was so much amazing music around? It will always be my favourite and I do,nt know why.when anyone asks about my favourite , over so many years I can,t tell them,it just is,i will never change my mind, best song ever.

  • @gmaccruyff55 oh yeah i knew John PAul Young was Scottish. from Glasgow. that's another great tune too!

  • Paulmac38.(fellow dude).Sorry he sounds a bit more Australian to you.Not much i can do. im afraid, other than advise you to look up "Wikipedia-The Motors"

i should never have doubted you..seeing as you are scottish yourself...(as was my grandad from paisley)

  • This takes me back... Happy days! An all time favourite!

  • If you type in "Another Politician(no joy)youll see Andy filming a video in Glasgow city centre, along with the Tartan Army"at Hampden park.Looks like this is a clip from the early 80s.

  • Glaswegian,Andy McMaster giving it "plenty"on lead vocals.

  • @gmaccruyff55 does he still sing didnt know the singer was Scots thought they were Australian..!

  • @gmaccruyff55 he sounds more Australian to me dude.

  • huge!

  • When this was in the charts at the end of the 70s, I worked in a hotel at Manchester Airport. Actually, it was the only hotel at the airport at the time (Excelsior, now Crowne Plaza). The memories it invokes are priceless. It almost felt like it was written for us at the time. Wonderful.

  • I fell in love with all things English during my first trip abroad in 1978. This song was a HUGE hit and I bought it...my first 12" single in transparent blue at that...and played it to death. It was so unlike anything I'd ever heard in the U.S. From then on, I was hooked on British music.

  • what a GREAT song! long time no hear! when it was released I was back and fro from Africa to England!

  • if u cant sit down and appriciate this song i meenits quite easy to lern the words it has a great piano solo and in a way its peacfull

  • Dude! Been tryin to find dis song for years! I love this song. Played it to death as a kid.

  • Did anyone ever play this at 33rpm instead of 45? Try it... If you still have an original blue vinyl copy, that is ;o)

  • This excellent song brings back strong, happy memories of waiting in the lounge of the Isle Of Man airport, waiting to fly home to Belfast from my summer holidays in the late 70's. It has remained one of my favourites ever since !

  • love this my dad constantly played this on vinyl, brings back memories :)

  • 8 people missed their flight!

  • @MrTivert LOL

  • @MrTivert so as i. i missed my flight to listen to this song!

  • Totally different from most late 70's pap -this is high-class pop, songwriting and musicianship-still love it like when I was17

  • This is pure magic and brings back so many happy memories...

    Thanks for sharing...

  • brilliant

70 and 80 were the best Time for music... And Life too !!

NOW people , musicians ,producers only think of rentability and money. DREAM IS DEAD. SOUL IS DEAD. ART IS DEAD.

    AND MAYBE HUMANS ARE DEAD.

  • @lukorg704 this song was released 2 years before Buggles but know what you mean and agree its all money , not originality

  • Very catchy song!

  • Remember you could watch a video without having to sit through a commercial?

Remember music videos were uploaded by users and not VEVO

Remember all the info was to the right of the video?

Remember you could rate a video 1-5 stars?

Remember the famous yellow subscribe button?

Remember the users controlled the site and now corporations?

    WE MISS THE OLD YOUTUBE

post this in every video and lets start a youtube revolution

thumps up to keep@top of page

  • @MegaThoi agreed

  • @MegaThoi tbh, i prefer the new utube

  • @MegaThoi

You can't start a youtube revolution by using youtube. That would be like protesting soda by buying coke.

  • @sablesoul well said, commenst should be about the songs not about old utube, its pathetic

  • @MegaThoi Remember? YouTube is only like 5 years old.... its not a trip down memory lane by any stretch :@)

  • @a120068020 The music is by a long stretch.

  • @MegaThoi Wow, thanks for ruining the top comments of this video --'

  • @MegaThoi dude u cant change the way utube is right now

  • @MegaThoi It must only be in certain countries because I'm in the UK, and I've never seen an advert on here, nor do I know who VEVO are.

  • In my disappeared brother...

  • Comment removed

  • memories memories! a classic contribution to the best years of music, can someone explain why for example in 1983 I and many others my age wouldn't listen to anything that was over 5 years old and certainly not listen to anything from the 60's YET now I'm quite happy trawling through Youtube hunting and listening to the mid to late 70's music and upto 1985 music, and why do I notice that the production, quality content, arrangement and lyrics are better than todays efforts?

  • Memories memories - a classic contribution to some of the best years for music.

  • Heard it today on the.....AIRPORT!!!

  • This song sounds like the theme tune to a 70s cop show.

  • Love it! just brilliant reminds me when I was a young girl and I always used to sing this when it got played on the radio...

  • I recall when it came out in 1978, oh old i feel lol !

  • its so special song!!!! I LIKE IT!!!!!!!!

  • I just heard this today whilst going through my dad's old cassettes. =^.^=

  • This song has "a smile in face"!

  • @IsoLiCor

    ' A smilin' face '.*

Puts a smile on my face too. :D.

  • We used to play this when I worked on the fair (big wheel) when I was a kid - many memories.

  • Unlike the girl in the song, my daughter is currently stranded at New York's JFK airport because of a giant thunderstorm. Methinks the airport has a damp face not a smiling one. My daughter won't be leaving on a jet plane for some hours yet. Hold hard Beth you'll be home soon, can't wait to see you.

  • @DiabeticChipmunk What bad about this? It's a nice melody/lyrics. etc.

  • British music is the best in the WORLD.

  • @MatthewDavidParr

why so much hate for him? I don't like him either, so I just don't listen to him.

Why are you putting his name under this great video? I clicked on this video because I don't want to read his name. If I wanted to be reminded of Biebers name I would have clicked on his video instead of this one.

  • @MatthewDavidParr now that was funny
