i can see what michio is trying to say but think harder about it, kids are of course immature, why wouldn't an advanced 17 year old want to visit other planets? surely its interesting intelligent or not. i would imagine that we would have many visitors if they knew we were here and maybe we do.

He is not entirely right . Ants are not capable of cognitive thinking like logic or reasoning. No matter how smart these aliens would be , they would be capable to make us understand . That would not be possible with ants.

@COMMOGSE ants are able to understand logic. an ant is carrying food to its ant hill. it sees a pebble. it knows that it cant walk through a pebble. so it walks around it. just because it understands logic and reasoning less than you doesnt mean it has no ability to.

@mtdeezy COMMOGSE is right, an advanced civilization would look at earth and know they use to be like us at some point, they would know there was a way to communicate with us. We look at ants and we know we didn't come from them, there is some sentinel about them and in no way can we communicate with them on any intelligent level. Therefor it is only an example, not an accurate comparison.

it's an interesting theory and i have nothing but respect for mr kaku. but what's to say that we aren't the most intelligent beings in the galaxy considering there is, so far, no evidence for intelligent life anywhere but earth...

Did ... you watch the video? Dr Kaku clearly explains that the section of space we've searched, nay, what little of space we are even POSSIBLE to search, has thus far yielded no traces of intelligent alien life. Our observable universe is so vanishingly small that, to me, it's impossible for there not to exist countless upon countless numbers of civilizations outside the scope of what we can see, and I'd have to assume that at least some percentage of them would be further advanced than our own.

it's impossible? how so? since we've been searching not one civilisation has been found. to me, the evidence so far suggests that life is not abundant in the universe. anyway, my point wasn't that life exists or not just that it's possible that we are the most advanced civilisation in the universe. that, perhaps, we could be the very first of the so-called "level 1, 2 and 3" civilisations and that, maybe, any intelligent life may be millions of years behind us....

I hope the day that we find other intelligent life out there is a day that I'm still alive! One of my fears is that I die with all the same questions I have about the universe and our origins...though I don't expect to find any of that out...a few answers wouldn't kill anyone!!!

@48Donbray just hope it doesnt end up like halo or some crzy movie were we still have guns that shoot bullets at you. compare to some alien weapons that turn you into jelly. and the aliens look like some shit out of a nightmare. armored down to there toes. horns that carry the rings of victory.they speak with a grunt and they smell like shit.
