  • That's Ulster Irish (Gaeilge Uladh). There are three dialects, Connact, Ulster & Munster. Different words and phrases are used in each dialect but essentially they are the same language and are mutually intelligable.

  • Look, it's not "Gaelic", Gaelic is a sport! Gaelic football! The language is IRISH or if you must, Gaeilge, pronounced 'gaylga' or 'gwaylga' depending on where you are in the country.

Sorry, people calling it Gaelic just pisses me off :P :)

  • dats fukin gaelic u retard

  • Bring back the Gaelic to Ireland Scotland and Wales ...

  • @donnakabab100 gaelic in scotland and wales wat u talking about

  • @keithdevaney1988 In Scotland = Scots Gaelic. In Wales = Welsh. In Ireland = Irish. All Gaelic languages just like English is Germanic. Gaelic is a group of languages.

Hope this cleared up your confusion.

  • That's not an Irish accent, that's the Irish language.

  • @BlazinHeather98

there are more Irish speakers in dublin than anywhere else in the country

  • @TheCrosaidi your wrong, the most irish speakers are in belfast. Id say dublin has the least ammount.

  • @christoir246 I very much doubt that, with the amount of gaelscoileanna in dublin compared to 9 in belfast and the influx of native speakers to dublin over the last 50 years and with it being the centre of the justice system in ireland, i would say it has alot more

  • @christoir246 no no no munster and leinster

  • Northern Ireland is not part of England you dummie. It's part of GB/ UK. Your spelling is atrocious too.

  • I don't understand it, but it's really pretty.

  • nuacht

  • I love Irish Gaelic. The Northern dialect is a lot prettier than the Southern dialect of it but they are both gorgeous languages. The root and the history of the language is quite interesting. I've always been obsessed with my Irish heritage although I look as Indian African as I can look!

  • its not an accent but its the language

  • Why has this posting train turned into a British V Irish match? For any British who want to start going on about Irish being pissheads etc, next time your on your package holiday to Ibiza, have a look around. For any Irish getting annoyed at the comments, take the high ground, do us all a service and let's stop even replying to them. Or if you really have to slag them, leabhairt as Gaeilge. Sasanach bomantach! :)

  • was the weakest 6 nations EVER! You even had to get players from the UK. snigger snigger.

  • You'd want to check where you're getting your source of information from, yes we may have some N.Ireland players on our team, hence why we play Irelands Call at matches. And if we did have to get players from the UK who could blame them not wanting to play for your piece of s**t team. The only way your team could win was by using Wilkinson and his cheap drop kicks, now you's can't be bitches and have to play the game properly you's don't stand a chance. Oh look Munster 43 - Ospreys 9. Yous suck

We haven't done anything....oh wait, i recall 2 weeks ago in rugby Ireland won the Grand Slam, Triple Crown and the RBS Six Nations ! We kicked your ass in doing so. • lol

  • you crazy american!

  • 0:48 seemed vaguely like 'cut her bum'!!

  • It's not just Gaeilge, but "IRISH" Gaeilge (Gaelic). Technically speaking Gaelic can refer to both Irish and Scots (Scottish) Gaelic, however in Ireland, the term Gaelic is looked down upon in terms of the cultural language but is okay when refering to "Gaeilic Football". In Ireland, Gaelic (or Gaeilge) is simply referred to as Irish. Technically speaking, "Irish" is a language despite a large misconception thinking otherwise.

  • There aren't any misconceptions are there? Just ignorance. And don't forget Manx Gaelge.

  • 3rd comment down . . . it is irish!

    Irish & Proud

  • Irish and forgotten you want to say!

  • english?? hahahahahaha u slow bitch i bet ur a blonde english bord

  • I had to learn this bloody language every day of my school life and it still sounds russian to me. I have since fatwad the language

  • it's not english its Gaeilge

  • its not english its irish, not irish accent speaking english, actual gailge, although gailge speakers often throw in a few english words suck as "yeah sure" or "really?" things like that

  • ha you fool, how couid that possibly be english!!Is amadan tú, agus is striapach salach tú agus do mhathair!

  • i didnt understand a word :o it sounded like russian to me

  • aye down in rosscommon we speak irish

  • no yiz dont its only in galway and donegal really u might talk funny i roscommon but thats just how yiz speak english lol

  • what? lol we do speak it down here, and whats that about english? :S

  • lol

  • To everyone;

I've read some comments like "this is not an accent, this is a language", etc.

Please accept that my intention was to show a typical accent of the Irish region! That's all, dudes, I do NOT say that it's not a language, or a dialect or whatever you want.

I do like people reading between the lines, but "Irish accent" was only shown as a title, in order to stress... the accent, which I found typical!

    No offense!

  • actually its not how dublin people talk either because it is clearly a donegal accent which is only really typical in ulster not in any of the other 3 provinces

  • Not its not you hun.

  • got your point but the term "irish accent" is noemally used for the way the irish speak english, nor for the way the irish speak gaelic

    imho

  • irish people sound different when they speak irish then english anyway so its not a "typical" Irish accent

  • thats not an irish accent , its the irish language!

  • My family over there says to call it Gaelic, but most Irish people that I've met when I've been there speak both English and Irish/Gaelic/Gaeilge. Thank you for the correction BereftSoul4

  • It's probably Gaelic, a language still spoken in Northern Ireland.

  • Actually Irish is spoken mostly in small regions in the west of Ireland in places called Gaeltachts...no-one calls it gaelic here, just Irish (or Gaeilge) Everyone in the Republic or Ireland has to learn it in school.

  • @smileyfaces087 It seems your basic knowledge of Ireland is limited. Northern Ireland is in the uk not England and also Irish is spoken among some Catholics in the north, hense Ulster Irish.

  • ye its spoke in ulster in donegal but although its in ulster its art of the republic not the uk

  • @smileyfaces087 Ya i know donegal is in the republic-im irish! but irish is also spoken by people in northern ireland!

  • ya i'm irish 2! ye but i had said dat every1 in d republic has 2 learn it u dont have 2 in the north

  • @smileyfaces087 Ya i know! fair enough-misunderstanding.

  • @smileyfaces087 learn to write properly and people might take you seriously

  • @smorriscbc whats the difference?

  • @zardozreed between what? Northern Ireland and the republic?-I'm not going to recite 800 years of history on this but the simple answer is British greed and religion through the set-up of plantations. Two different countries...for now! The north is part of the UK.

  • @zardozreed or did you mean the difference between northern Irish and Irish in general? There are several dialects of Irish. Ulster Irish is one of those. I don't know if Donegal Irish is different to the rest of Ulster Irish...

  • SMILEYFACES087 you are an official idiot. You started off well with Gaelige however it IS spoken in Northern Ireland, and not just the West of Ireland. Moreover Northern Ireland is not part of England or Britain. Don't correct people unless you know the facts and more to the point go and learn how to write correctly.

  • Not part of England and people do speak it in the north but only as a second language just like in the south, and the major of schools in the north learn it in school. Don't be ignorant!

  • this isint an accent its a language

  • i was going to say that, its not the accent its something else

  • yes, it is really cool they keep it alive but this is not an accent, it is an own language which makes a big difference

  • thats soooo cool that ireland is still keeping their language alive.
