or you could just use your teardrop tool :P

  • why did you reassemble it so fast thats the part i need help on:(

  • thats one way to take and put the back part on but then u dont have ur firing pin adjusted right and its harder to adjust it u can use ur tool that comes with most mosins plus u can adjusted ur firing pin right

  • thanks a lot, helped me out! and great camera skills

  • how the fuck am i going to put my bolt back togeather!!! you jackass!

  • How about assembling the bolt like you disassembled the bolt .. as slow .. some people aren't catching it when putting it back together .. this would then be a complete well rounded training video .. thanks

  • not a bullet its a round

  • Thanks for the video on taking apart the Mosin nagant bolt. But your re assemble did not have to be fast forwarded if you had played it at normal speed that would have been very helpful. Anyway great video though the best one yet that I've seen to take it apart thank you!

  • Good vid, thanx

  • My friend Roman had so many of those things he turned one into a sawn off.

  • Way to go kid. Glad to see some young lads actually know what the heck they are actually doing. You can also check out IraqVeteran on Youtube here for some more sticky mosin nagant bolt fixes.

  • Don't forget to properly gauge the firing pin!!!!!!

Too little and it will hang-fire.

Too much and you can get badly injured!

  • Wow, best vid yet...only thing missing is the part about checking the firing pin depth, but I'm sure you covered that in another vid...and the production values are fabulous, 5 stars+.

  • thanks Good job,I CAN SEE WHAT YOU DID. too many videos are to dark to see.

    Very well done

  • Wer'e not covering that now...haha then why bring it up...you can read the disassemble instructions..nice

  • Poor kid doesnt know the right terms, nor how to take the bolt apart the correct way.

  • CARTRIDGES! Not bullets! D:

  • thank you i was about to say the same, cartridge/round. its so annoying when they say bullets like some hollywood movie

  • unauthorized soundtrack, bunch of fucking nazis. Regardless, when I first got to cleaning the cosmo off my mosin this helped ALOT, thanks

  • Thanks man, that was really helpful.

    : )

  • Damn dude, good job!

  • well done. I have one of these made by remington.

it is nice to see instructional stuff here....

  • Remington????

  • yes. Remington and Westinghouse made these for Russia.(about 3 million combined) the Remingtons were made until 1917. when the October revolution began, the orders were cancelled and millions of nagants were not delivered. they were sold as surplus in the US and to other countries. The Russians made their own nagants also, but used outside contractors to increase production. The US and Russia were allies at the time.

  • russian made

  • i used to think this was german because the germans used it but germany had rubbish rifles so took what they found. but 1 of my favourite snipers need to get me one.

  • They had the Kar 98.

Not a mosin nagant. And german guns are some of the best made.

  • yes but the germans thought the mosin was better so alot of them took the mosin

  • well its a remington.;] haha

    i dont blame them

  • A mosin would do German troops no good dude. German Rifles used stock piles of 8mm Mauser, Mosins were chambered for 7.56x54R rounds. In other words 8mm Mauserr rounds won't work in Mosin Rifles. Square Peg no go in round hole. Why would a German Soldier use A rifle He cant get ammo for.

  • germany never used mosins dude the k89 in WWI had a strate bolt just like the mosin that is wut might have confused you.

  • yea but i mean the russians that they killed had the mosin and some germans took them

  • Very, very detailed instruction! GREAT JOB!

  • Great vid Eric!I'm considering purchasing a Mosin and this is one of the best vids i've seen out there about it. Thanks!

  • nice video, but the reassembly was a little fast for first times (me) lol, this was a good vid though...i never knew a bolt could get so dirty

  • Oh,this mosin-nagant is in good condition!

  • Stop worrying about the kids hair...Look at some of the Soviet soldiers in ww2 especially Partisans-alot of guys had long hair!

    Nice vid

  • Nosey Nosey people. Who cares where he got the rifle from? His dad prob. bought it for him. I got my first rifle when i was 10. Go figure....nice vid btw.

  • cool video. cut your hair faggot

  • Shut up nigger, go back to stealing T.Vs because you can not even afford a cheap ass nagant.

  • wow that was just awful........

    your comment not the video.

  • Very good young man.

  • why do you need to disembel it??

  • To clean it. the gunbowder dirt's almost every part of the gun so you must clean the gun regularly.

  • Thats like asking why do you wash your dishes?

  • very good video... to the point. i like that

  • the connector rod can be used as a tool to undo the firing pin , but you knew that already didnt you?.....

  • Mmm, the REASSEMBLY portion was the part I was interested in. I kinda wish you hadn't skimped over that.

Rest of the video's good, though.

  • the complicated world of guns..... wait, hold on ur just a kid. were'd u get da gun??

  • his dad probably or maybe hes 18.

  • Hey man, I have just one question...

Where do you have this rifle from?

  • Thats whats up, great video.

  • i want one so bad. such a beautiful rifle. i shouldnt have spent my money on crap :/

    what model is this?

  • Very good video, but at the end i noticed you put your finger on the trigger. That's a no-no as I'm sure you know but just something to keep in mind.

  • don't be a fag.

  • The gun is completely safe as long as there is no loaded clips in it or any bullets in the chamber.

  • hey good video, but you should of showed the reaslembly at normal speed. people who arent familiar with it could make a mistake, ruin the bolt, or worse put it back together and cuase damage to the rifle or to themselfs. no need for fast forward! other then that, good job

  • Well made and helpful. Great job.

  • hey man, i greatly appreciate this video, i was clueless, thank you sooo much, and ktodd, chill out, you talk about armchair commandos, you seem to have enough spare time on your hands to care about nothing else but the comments on this dude's page and that a respecting GUN, oops, i said a naughty word, gun owner said bullets, and used his free time to teach, you fobbits there in Ku must have alot on your hands, wow ktodd, you suck

  • this is in the game metal gear solid 4

  • and 3

  • Better than a manual for disasembling a mosin-nagant bolt.

  • awesome video man

  • That video was a great piece of art

  • KTodd IS correct about the rounds. Unless you have snap caps or dummy rounds, keep em out of the AO. "Empty" weapons kill the most folks.

  • Thanks for posting this specialized vid! My kid just bought a beat up 1922 variant today at the Flea market and had NO idea what to do with it. My disassembly manuals didn't go into detail, so it was off to You Tube. Hey Ktodd, chill. Give some slack to the COBS. It's all for the good of the cause.

  • that was a good video.

  • nice demo! good job.

note: hey ktodd1969, please fuck off with your crappy comments.

we don't need that smart ass attitude.

That song was okay as a nice background.

    cheers

  • Quit bitching, the music is just fine. Without music it would just be a dude talking. BORING.

  • AHAHAHA, you're 38 years old? Could have fooled me. You remind me of my little cousins. Go headbutt a rusty nail.

  • damn dude you are dumb, the mosin nagant is a gun. its also a rifle and a weapon. just because hes not brain washed by the military doesnt make him wrong or you right. piss off. hes doin good for a youngster.

  • Waaaahhhh cry us a fucking river, we all know what he's talking about and referring to.

  • Nice Video. Very informative

  • The word for the day is "Cartridge". As in, why the heck do you keep referring to cartridges as bullets? otherwise great video.

  • getting my m91/30 on Monday so, into my favorites you go.

    Thanks a bunch

  • very good instruction boy! you seem to be an expert...respect

  • Thank you, man. I finally cleaned my bolt. Where can I buy some cheap ammo?

  • Thanks dude, I just bought a Mosin today and this really helped me out.

  • the best guns ever

  • I've never seen a weapon that requires a 2x4 to field strip.

    Can your rifle shoot MOA?

    And Great Video!!!

  • this freakin bolt has a bajillion pieces in it

  • nice vid! 5stars

  • Prima! Danka!

  • good description, im glad someone my age cares enough to know about the best most cost effective bolt action made!

  • wow no one can pronounce the name right...:)

  • thanks for posting the video! very helpful.

  • Great video. If only he knew the difference between a bullet and a cartridge, it would be perfect. 9/10

  • Great job! I referenced this video to completely scrub, clean and re-oil the bolt assembly on the M44 I just picked up yesterday. Can't wait to get it to the range

  • lol... he said COCKing piece.

    Seriously tho, nice video.

    Love the Ramones look too.

  • beautiful rifle and nice video.

  • Excellent job, young man. It does my heart good to see young shooters knowledgable and interested in shooting. I have two and after fitting them out with Mojo sights and match triggers, they are tack drivers. I personally believe the 7.62x54R will be the next 30-06 as far as cheap usable ammo goes. Ditto for the rifles...only $93 ea. w/ accessories

  • are these rifles easily to come by.......if so where do i get one

  • I can only tell you where to get them in central Nebraska. Call Pawn shops and gun shops in your area.

  • You should check your local BIg 5 Sporting goods store. I bought mine there for $85 dollars.

  • Big 5 sporting goods has them for real cheap, usually under 100.00

  • I bought one yesterday and I can't wait to shoot it!

Be careful when removing the cosmoline preservative on the rifle. These rifles are preserved in 'grease', and I used Carburetor Cleaner, per suggestion, for grease removal. I got a little on the stock and it took off some finish because it is just too harsh. Use Hoppes #9.

  • That is not a gun. It is a rifle.

That is not a bullet. It is a cartridge.

Cocking piece? How about a hammer?

  • Great video. Im buying one next week, cant wait to clean and shoot her...

  • man what a pain in the ass, nice rifle though

  • I knew how to assemble - dissassemble before but cool video

  • Nicely done dude!

  • awsome, i wasn't sure how to get the fireing pin and spring out, but now i know =)

  • the peice of wood was not that necessary anyways

  • great video. thanks for the demo.

  • nice vid but the clip is kinda point less if it dont go in and arnt u a little too young to own that rifle

  • Never too young to own a rifle. What are you thinking?

  • You Rocked It Schneider on TLC

    \M44 simple W/ A Big Ol BANG!

  • I wish it wasn't $.50 a round for dirty cheap stuff and $1 for the clean stuff. I guess thats what we get for buying antique firearms with antique cartridges, lol.

  • 7.62x54r can be had for less than 15 cents each.

  • lol I don't want to buy bulk ammo, a box or two for $9 is fine.

  • I get mine for 45 cents each.

  • i hate those damnj clips so hard to use this is a great video though

  • i spended like 30 min tring to put back the bolt head and the conecting bar.

  • WOW Nice vid man! Had a 1891Arg, and just picked up a Mosin 91/30....Yeah the bold was a lot more complicated than the argy! This video helped me to know I had my mosin bold back together right to fire ( I took it apart to clean cosmoline and lube it all like i like).

  • Agreeing with some of the other comments. If you had to clean the cosmoline then you KNOW how much of a pain that can be. A demo in your style on how to do that would be fantastic.

  • Thats the truth I luckily had the assistance of my cousin (USMC) big help...

  • Dude. I totally appreciate you. Great vid, great step by step visuals and you're a good explainer. :)

  • awesome I just saw a mosin nagant at a museum the rifle is prety cool :P

  • good vid, thats the only bolt-action rifle i have that i couldn't disassemble.

  • Oh crap how do I put it back together??? You went to fast on re-assembly... But great video I think you should make another video on re-assembly. Better yet make a video on how to clean the cosmoline off.

  • Oh yah, I'm going to learn Russain too! :D

  • I actually like these Soviet weapons. I wanna get an AK47. I definitely wanna get one of these awesome babies!!!

I wonder if any of this info would be instrumental in helping me convert it into the sniper varient?

  • Nice work. But You'd better counting the number of revolutions of the cocking piece while unscrewing it, since a wrong number of revs during reassembling time may cause the firing pin to protrude excessively or in an insufficient measure at the firing time.

  • Doesn't shoving the firing pin into the wood like that run the risk of breaking it? I've just never seen the Mosin bolt disassembled in that way. Good job either way with the run down of your operation. lol

  • Very good job.

  • learn how to say mosin nagant

  • LoL.I had bought a Mosin Nagant the other day and to my surprise someone broke the "Extractor"

And used some kind of adhesive to put it back in.

So after running the bolt through a couple of cycles it popped right out of my gun and across the room :(

  • LoL.I bought a Mosin Nagant the other day.

And to my suprise some one had actually broke the 5

  • Can anybody please tell me the name of the song playing in the background???

  • i'd like to know too

  • Good Job Kid.

  • I used this as a guide to disassemble the bolt of my new M44. Everything went well until I tried to reassemble. . . that took a few minutes of head-scratching. Great job of showing an important bit of information!

  • You also forgot to mention the importance of getting the firing pin protrusion correct. You can't screw the cocking piece too far or too little. If you screw it on too little then you will have the firing pin protrude too far when fired and may break or damage the firing pin.

  • bullets are whats at the end of the case. The unfired set is called a "round"

  • You are a natural at teaching, this was a very usefull video.

  • Good explanation! Very useful, thanks!

  • The section on the disassembly of the Mosin Nagant bolt is very good. The business of speeding up the reassembly to the point I can't follow what Eric is doing stinks. Eric, please do another video, this time on how to REASSEMBLE the bolt, at about the same pace you used explaining how to DISASSEMBLE it.

  • lol i like this.

  • good explanation of the bolt, tell them about the safety though.

  • a wanna a rifle like that from where i can buy it?

  • I got mine at Big Five Sporting goods for about $75.

  • Another question when I do the pin protusion test and I turn the screw to lower the firing pin I can't turn it anymore, it passes the test but barely, is it supposed to be like this?

  • Question: Is it neccesary to oil it after you finish taking it apart and start to put t back together. Oh, and the bolt is a lot simpler than I thought.

  • if you have sweaty hands, which really sucks, then yes you have to oil the parts. It is not neccesary to oil but if you want to then go for it, just dont go crazy with the oil. use the right amount of oil on a cleaning patch. keeping your guns clean and well oiled will keep them in good if not better condition then when you got them. hope this helps you out.

  • I say that because it's tight, not sticky, it doesn't get sticky just consistently tight. It's not the orininal bolt but the gun does fire correctly.

  • Great job do more !!

  • Very helpful Im new to Mosins; Thanks!

  • Great vid. I am going to do that know and clean it. Just fired 160 rounds this weeks it was a little sticky to start with.

  • yo, this video was super helpful... just stumbled upon it and didn't even know one existed! but you just made life a ton easier, since scoped (bent + extended) bolt handles are sold in complete bolts... but i previously thought it requires tools to get the bolt apart. you showed me otherwise! thanks!!

  • lets see you shoot her!

  • use just regular gun cleaning solvent on the bolt same as the gun just lube it up real good when ur done with it :) not too much though hope that helps headjuice125

  • Yep, that's all i needed to know. Thanks umbrella =D

  • Question: I just bought an m44 nagant and i want to clean the bolt. What kind of liquid can i use to clean it?

  • Good to see young guys with the old rifles i love. The Mosin is a great rifle, she ain't purty, but you can drag it through the fields all day and it will still shoot...the safety sucks, you gotta wonder how many Ruskies were killed because of it.

  • You use the connecting bar to unscrew the fireing pin.

  • thanks a bunch ryan, i just picked up a mosin nagant m44 the other day, this truly helped me out in a big way!

Do you have any other tutorials for the mosin? or other ww1/ww2 bolt actions? i have a 1915 swedish mauser that i need to take the bolt apart on. I tried a similar method to the mosin, but its not quite the same...

  • nyce... were you self taught or did u do sum extensive research to fulfill some interest in russian firearms?

  • I wish you would have ran the assembly part at normal speed.

  • hey firehouse1974 i'm wondering if I should get a mosin nagant 91/30, would you say it would be a decent hunting rifle or are they bad shooters and suck terribly

  • Was this a school project? If so I hope you got an A.

  • That's the one thing I hate about my Mosin Nagant. The bolt is too complicated.

  • good video, I was playing with my bolt and it came apart really easily.

  • Do you realize that the Firing pin guide, what you call the conecting bar, was designed to be used as a tool to unscrew the firing pin from the cocking piece. The Mosin-Nagants were designed so that all the tools that were need for the take down where present always. The same as the marking on the cocking piece should be lined up with the mark in the firing pin. That means it is in proper position and distance so that the firing pin will not either damage the round or not hit it enough.

  • You are correct and that's the proper way. It's better to use his method however because the pin has a habit of shooting out with great force if you're not careful :-) I speak from experience!

  • As long as you hold it correctly it should never shoot out. I have taken the bolt apart this way several times and NEVER has the pin shot out. This is one reason of placing the pin on a block of wood and twisting the pin with the firing pin guide. As for experience I speak from several years of knowledge on the Mosin-Nagant from models dating from early 1900s up to my new M44 from 1945. If you use the method that is shown here you risk breaking the firing pin which I have had happen to me.

  • Yup, you do have a point there. Fortunately that has never happened to me. It is a bitch of a thing to take apart, though.
