He's not too good. Is He? He has a fast vibrato which is quite annoying and he doesn't really get any of the top notes cleanly. This is odd because he's supposed to be a high note tenor.
Again there are a a bunch of voice teachers posting how they fix him right up. LOL.
I am looking in vain for support below. No abdominal breathing. All from up. And when there is no supporting column of air thats what happens: you tremble and push and your top just gets stuck.
What's going on with voice teaching? No normal use of diaphraghm and supporting abdominal and back musculature, strange placements, fixations of "made" voices. Why?
As my late great singing coach, Elda Ercole, used to say to me, calmatevi. Cutler presses and pushes his gorgeous voice. Why? He has everything needed for a great career but if this aria is an example of his current technique, I fear for his future. Remember Villazon.
Large man and great hair. His artifice is too much, taking away from the possibilities of performing better vocally, as his high B-flats are all difficult for him and not handsome in color. If you don't have outstanding high B-flats in this piece, you'd better not sing it in public.
Unfortunately I'd have to agree with Phat10er. He knows not what to do with his hands and his eyes are closed which is where the dramatic intention is communicated. I struggle with this myself so I'm not casting stones while livin in a glass house. I just recognize.
...che scandalo...non ci sono più parole...la lirica, se questi sono gli esponenti che vanno per la maggiore, è veramente MORTA! Speriamo nelle NUOVE leve!!!!
