I actually like Christopher Nolans versions better than the rest. Batman Begins, it wasn't about villians it was actually about how the legend begins. It was about Bruce Wayne becoming Batman. Nolan names his movies carefully. Batman Begins is not about the fight scenes or scarecrow its about Batman/Bruce Wayne. Now this summer The Legend Ends, can't wait for TDKR.
I'd say The Dark Knight - Batman 1989, I agree that Jack Nicholson played a very good joker, but I just didn't like how they gave a joker an origin in the movie, and the joker died in a pretty bad way in my opinion. In The Dark Knight The Joker is a mystery. Each time he told the a story about his scars were different.
I know he didn't like Batman Begins but he downplays it too much. The focus on Ras al Ghul was a great story arc and pitted former mentor-student against each other so much so that as big as batman became Ras still looks at him like the young Bruce Wayne and calls
Wayne in their final fight. What if the scarecrow was the focus point? hes just some loony psychiatrist that in terms of batman's stature is nobody. Ras Vs Scarecrow? Ras al Ghul provided a better emotional arc then scarecrow period.
I never heard of the 1926 silent film, The Man who Laughs, or the 2 1940 serials. The 1960 show is pretty laughable today looking at the camp value of it, especially the '66 film. The 1989 "Batman" was pretty damn good for its time, "Batman Returns" was enjoyable as a dark and action film, but I can see when people say it goes overboard. "Batman Forever" was decent but was showing it going downhill and "Batman & Robin" killed it off. The Nolan films are the superior Batman films hands down.
Now James, get this, you may already know this, but David Goyer, the writer of "Batman Begins" and "The Dark Knight" will be the writer for the upcoming reboot of Godzilla in 2012.
The Dark Knight - Best movie ever made?? Where do you guys get THIS stuff from??? I live on the mid East Coast, US, and I never and I mean NEVER - not even onLINE have heard this song and dance about it being the 'best movie ever'. And even still, it annoys me to hear people - like yourself to some extent particularly with B.Begins - DISS and bash B.Begins JUST b/c otehr ppl - like yours truely love it. Hating/dissing/bashing a movie in the light of all of its praise. Thats unfair to the film.
ive never seen the animated series and im 13 rite now and a really big film buff and batman hapeens to be my favorire hero, so to get me intrested in it u should do a review of the series, im really dont like many cartoons or kid shows but from what you and everyone is saying the animated series sounds great so do a fucking review please
Theres a reason its EARLY. Batman and Returns clearly are portraying a mature Batman. The irony is that it would be actually justified in Nolans films, because its a beginner Batman and he doesn't kill. Come on bro you know killing isn't Batmans code. The character most revere does not kill. Thats what makes him so compelling. In the comics, the Joker only kills more and more but Batman refuses to kill him. That emotional trauma is great, not him killing
I see why you might find it funny.....but that kind of makes it look like Batman and Robin. I don't mean to sound like a Batman fanboy but the killing ticks me off, personally

@ThatKrazyDude23 batman and robin is one of the most bashed movies of all time so the question is how can you say that it's good? @KelanDWood I actually loved batman and robin... my opinion is that the concept of a guy dressing in a cape and trying to immitate a bat is just wayyy too silly to be taken as seriously as the tim burton films and the dark knight film attempt to.... however with the comedic style it works well enough so that you forget someone is trying to be a badass in a bat outfit... its just ridiculous.
the dark knight fuck yeah just damn awesome the oldies not bad

Watched all your batman reviews and I can't agree more. Totally agree with everything you said. To me, Tim Burton's first Batman was a classic. He created a world - a really gothic Gotham city. The Nolan Batmans felt a little cold. Heath did a great job of the Joker, but I still like the first one the best.
I just saw Mask of the Phantasm for the first time. ... I must be fucking crazy but for the time being this is my favourite Batman film. I'm serious I really loved it.
But being a fan of the Animated series, my only regret is that I wish I saw it as a child.
i kinda wish James would do a more detailed review of The Dark Knight, since when he did the Bat-A-Thon review, the Dark Knight was still in theaters and he didn't want to give away any spoilers, now that time has passed and almost everyone who would watch these reviews has seen the movie, it would be nice to see a more full review on it.
@UndeadBeaner I can see why you did it was fun, and I like the comedy and action and stunts effects and neon, but my problem are the stories which are ful of holes, the repetitive caracters and to dark music and sets for such a light film!!!!!!!
batman begins is the best by far, the movie movie takes batman to a whole new level, and out of hte shadow of superman. If you cant recognise how good batman begins is then I'm sorry but then you dont know shit about movies. Dark night is great more not better or more original than batman begins
So if people disagree with you, they know shit about movies? Mighty pretentious of you. As good as you think Batman Begins is, not everyone likes it, nor should they. People like different things for different reasons. Saying someones opinion suck just because they have different tastes is, for lack of a better term, stupid.
@TheKaisama Amen! I get that kind of shit alot. Just because I like a film most people hate which is rare, people say my opinon is wrong. There is no right or wrong opinon.
How is Dark Knight the least bit child friendly? The violence? The adult nature? That's not for kids!
Dark Knight is not a kid's film. Many adults, and I mean MANY adults, love DK. Kids are scarred of that movie, and they only liked it at first because it was a super-hero movie.
Yes, the movie industry is going down the drain, but there are still some amazing movies every once in a while. DK is one of them.
@uknownada who do you define as a kid in this instance? i know teens, pre-teens, and even a couple 6 year olds who adore the movie. most kids love getting scared, and there are lots of great movies still coming out. not fantastic like dk, but still fun as long as you dont set your standards unbelievably high :)
besides when you say MANY adults that of course means alot, but not many adults, but when you say kids hate it,it's like saying that ALL kids hate it! (BTW dont reply and swear at me and tell me to get off youtube, because thats what im expecting)
my two favorites are actually batman returns and the dark knight. i guess i prefer a more dark aproach to batman. yeah the original was great, but there were some things that i didn't like as much. mabye it's because i'm not all that nostalgic. i'm only 15 anyway.
In spite of curiosity, what IS the best movie ever made in your opinion? I'm not arguing with what you said, I agree.. Just curious, you seem to know your stuff.
In spite or Batman & Robin being a failure... Joel Schumacher did a better job than Tim Burton(Batman & Batman Returns)... and, of course, Jim Carrey repeated the play he does always, but he´s amazing actor and was a gret and memorable Riddler that couldn´t be replaced by anyone in the future Batman movies... Riddler should be him again...he was even better that the classic Riddler from the 60´s series...
i got to disagree, i prefer seeing batman dark. The first time i ever watched a batman... anything, it was the animaed series which is known for being one the darkest, and greatest representations of batman. So then, when i watched the burtin/schumacker movies and compared, i REALLY hated two-face in batman forever, and Jim carrey wasn't creepy enough to be called a good batman villain, true, the 60s show wasn't dark, but it was the 60s, and it could get away with it.
Joel Schumacher butchered a movie franchise that Tim Burton made awesome. There is nothing memorable about Jim Carrey's riddler, he was just being the same goof ball that he is in alot of his movies (joel schumacher's fault of course for directing him that way). Jim Carrey didn't really set a high standard for the riddler like Nicholson did with his Joker or like Pffeifer did with her Catwoman, so anybody playing Riddler in a 3rd Nolan Batman would be a vast improvement.
An okay movie is entertaining. A good movie is entertaining and about something. The Burton movies, as entertaining as they are, don't have a theme or atleast don't care to carry the themes of Batman comics. Stuff just happens. You get barely two scenes about Bruces parents being murdered and both movies spend alot more time on the villians. The Burton movies are okay, but they are about nothing, especially not about Batman. Nolans movies analyse the char of Batman and I give it credit for.
and you're too stupid to put together a logical and clear sentence, maybe if you could spell and group words together in a way that made sense then maybe I could understand you.
I'm in school, but I don't waste my time studying how to understand morons on youtube such as yourself. If you want to make an argument then make it already, if not then shut the fuck up.
hey james did you here vthat there was a batman game with 2 or 3 scarcrow fights if you havent played it you should if you like the ghost busters game you would love the batman game for the 360
Kevin Conroy had the best Batman voice, I have to say.
But I have to agree with the Batman Begins part, Scarecrow did not get as much screen time as he should have. Ra's al Ghul was interesting, but if it wasn't Liam Neeson playing him I probably wouldn't think so.
Either way, this was a honest review that cuts the crap. I can appreciate that.
Please review the awesome Batman Animated Series. i realized why the Dark Knight has a down ending, so in the next movie it will have a cooler ending (like Empire Strikes Back to Return Of The Jedi). and i dont blame you for loving both movies
I actually like Christopher Nolans versions better than the rest. Batman Begins, it wasn't about villians it was actually about how the legend begins. It was about Bruce Wayne becoming Batman. Mask of the Phantasm, Subzero and Return of the Joker are great movies.

UndeadBeaner 2 years ago
@UndeadBeaner I can see why you did it was fun, and I like the comedy and action and stunts effects and neon, but my problem are the stories which are ful of holes, the repetitive caracters and to dark music and sets for such a light film!!!!!!!

I highly doubt he'd answer your comment but I'll take a guess:
It's awesome. You'd be a fool not to think that BM:AA isn't awesome.

Review Batman: Mask of the Phantasm!
batmanhicks93 2 years ago
batman begins is the best by far, the movie movie takes batman to a whole new level, and out of hte shadow of superman. If you cant recognise how good batman begins is then I'm sorry but then you dont know shit about movies. Dark night is great more not better or more original than batman begins
alexdblade 2 years ago
So if people disagree with you, they know shit about movies? Mighty pretentious of you. As good as you think Batman Begins is, not everyone likes it, nor should they. People like different things for different reasons. Saying someones opinion suck just because they have different tastes is, for lack of a better term, stupid.
TheKaisama 2 years ago 4
@TheKaisama Amen! I get that kind of shit alot. Just because I like a film most people hate which is rare, people say my opinon is wrong. There is no right or wrong opinon.

only kids adore new Batman movies and
brag they know "somethin" about movies... grow up, movie indrustry is going down the drain
snuhr 2 years ago
Only kids adore Batman movies? What?
How is Dark Knight the least bit child friendly? The violence? The adult nature? That's not for kids!
Dark Knight is not a kid's film. Many adults, and I mean MANY adults, love DK. Kids are scarred of that movie, and they only liked it at first because it was a super-hero movie.
Yes, the movie industry is going down the drain, but there are still some amazing movies every once in a while. DK is one of them.

What what ?!?
were you iven lisning to what he sad

Obviously, if you learned how to read, you'd know that I was replying to another comment. My comment had NOTHING to do with the video.
uknownada 2 years ago
@uknownada who do you define as a kid in this instance? i know teens, pre-teens, and even a couple 6 year olds who adore the movie. most kids love getting scared, and there are lots of great movies still coming out. not fantastic like dk, but still fun as long as you dont set your standards unbelievably high :)
TheRainSnake 1 year ago
@uknownada ok so u say MANY adults, but you dont put in infront of kids wich means that u mean ALL kids?
scaryguy004 9 months ago
@uknownada I saw a 9 year old who wasn't scared of TDK at all.

Watch the first Sam Raimi Spiderman movie.

2:After Norman and Harry hug each other.

my two favorites are actually batman returns and the dark knight. i guess i prefer a more dark aproach to batman. yeah the original was great, but there were some things that i didn't like as much. mabye it's because i'm not all that nostalgic. i'm only 15 anyway.
JokerFan1138 2 years ago 2
Batman Begins i agree, scarecrow should be in it more.
craxyguys123 2 years ago
In spite of curiosity, what IS the best movie ever made in your opinion? I'm not arguing with what you said, I agree.. Just curious, you seem to know your stuff.
joemichealmurray 2 years ago
In spite or Batman & Robin being a failure... Joel Schumacher did a better job than Tim Burton(Batman & Batman Returns)... and, of course, Jim Carrey repeated the play he does always, but he´s amazing actor and was a gret and memorable Riddler that couldn´t be replaced by anyone in the future Batman movies... Riddler should be him again...he was even better that the classic Riddler from the 60´s series...
brunobelz 2 years ago
i got to disagree, i prefer seeing batman dark. The first time i ever watched a batman... anything, it was the animaed series which is known for being one the darkest, and greatest representations of batman. So then, when i watched the burtin/schumacker movies and compared, i REALLY hated two-face in batman forever, and Jim carrey wasn't creepy enough to be called a good batman villain, true, the 60s show wasn't dark, but it was the 60s, and it could get away with it.
batmanagent008 2 years ago
Joel Schumacher butchered a movie franchise that Tim Burton made awesome. There is nothing memorable about Jim Carrey's riddler, he was just being the same goof ball that he is in alot of his movies (joel schumacher's fault of course for directing him that way). Jim Carrey didn't really set a high standard for the riddler like Nicholson did with his Joker or like Pffeifer did with her Catwoman, so anybody playing Riddler in a 3rd Nolan Batman would be a vast improvement.

Batman (1989) and The Dark Knight are my favourite batman movies aswell
blablaman233 2 years ago
An okay movie is entertaining. A good movie is entertaining and about something. The Burton movies, as entertaining as they are, don't have a theme or atleast don't care to carry the themes of Batman comics. Stuff just happens. You get barely two scenes about Bruces parents being murdered and both movies spend alot more time on the villians. The Burton movies are okay, but they are about nothing, especially not about Batman. Nolans movies analyse the char of Batman and I give it credit for.
trustno1 2 years ago
Wait a minute
The dark night is about the joker and batman fighting it out to the end
Yet it isnt about batman?
What do you mean tey are about nothing.
If they werent about anything they wouldnt have any basis to write dialouge or to even have characters designed or portrayed.
