  • upload part 3 please!

  • Were the third part I can't find it

  • lol Vercingetorix watched this two times..lol

  • Ceasar wants to return to claim power. (our power). Senators were just afraid THEY would lose power.

  • where is part 3 ?

  • LOL! Pause at 1:23

  • that Caesar in the video reminds me of George W. Bush in the USA.

  • @324liz draft dodging,drubk,wimpy,stupid sheltered G.W BUSH.I don't get that

  • i love how all the romans have british accents

  • @ld0ne It's made by the BBC you moron, what do you expect?

  • did anyone notice how Marcus Marcellus is the actor who plays Cato in HBO's Rome?

  • @K3yB04dG000n define irony lol

  • @K3yB04dG000n yup.same actors different roles.its there forte

  • Julius Caesar was a dictator. Not a Roman Dictator ( the classic meaning of the word ) but a man who wanted total dictatorship. Unfortunately by killing him the Roman Republic became the Roman Empire. Democracy was something for the rich many people thought. Indeed because Rome was ruled by rich people.

This must be a warning for the USA. Because in America the rich also rule. Soon democracy can die there too.

  • I think a dictatorship could be effective with a valiant and learned ruler. But only if he was pure of heart and truly wanted the best for his people, which lets face it is rare, and why so many nations won't allow it. Its 'safer' to have a republic, not necessarily as glorious as an empire.

  • @Diocletian09 It might seem like a dictator might be more efficient, but by default he cannot be. The problem with a dictator is that he is always preoccupied with staying in power. And the only way to do that is to keep the people divided. A democracy is not perfect by any stretch of the imagination, but it's the leaser of two evils.

  • @Diocletian09 the only leader that i could think of that would be pure of heart is Alexander the Great

  • rome is sexy

  • Does anyone know where part 3 is???

  • @richardlanderos Forget it. I was here a year ago and I remember a part missing : (

  • Where is part 03?

  • Obviously the person who disliked this, the only one who disliked this video accidentaly pressed the dislike button....:/

  • 8:57 viggo mortenson

  • I AM PLAYING GLORY OF ROME ON FACEBOOK. SO THIS IS COOL.

  • Anyone else love the fact the actor playing Marcus Marcellus plays Cato in Rome!?

  • Dresses like a pig farmer and brushes his teeth in his own urine!!!! XD I think they were dissing him with pee and pugs!

  • damn how many people names are mark or marcus

  • Will you fight for my shiny armor!

  • where is part 3?

  • The one the one and the one

    is Rome

  • Only a Gaul would dislike this.

  • @DrunkenAnimaVideo That or an member of the optimates (who have nothing good but their cause)?

  • What the hell is this numbering you have done?

  • Caesar acts kind of ... well, effeminate

  • 5:20

    "What's this?"

    "That's a 250 mL Class A volumetric flask. It contains 250mL with a tolerance of + or - 0.1mL."

  • the guy who plays Marcus Marcellus plays Cato in HBO's Rome

  • I must say, this Mark Antony was quite.... different to the one in the Rome series :P

  • Actually, Pompey had not seen military action for 13 years, not 9

  • Cool stuff. Thanks for upload.

  • I'm gutted...WHERE IS CICERO? ... :(

  • @BorsBaledwyr Why he should?

  • @BorsBaledwyr in skyrim

  • why do every story of julius caesar start alessia?

  • 2'16 to 2'20 : senators know nothing about women...

  • I hope BBC can make video like this about the ancient Greece city states like Sparta, athens, Corinth, Argos, and thebes

  • @MsGampo Agreed! I want a Thebes one especially, because it's so often overlooked D:

  • @TheEmpress666 they can make a story about Epaminondas during and after the battle of Leuctra(Thebes)

  • this BBC is really good

it should be like a movie or something

  • where the fucks part 3?

  • 2:35 graffiti in the Roman time :P

  • The guy who played Pompey reminds me of David Gilmour xD

  • Reform or Overthrow? Hmmm.... I think I know someone in the White House whose been throwing that word (Reform) around a lil too loosely. It all makes sense now.

  • @espinozafn In order to reform, you have to overthrow. Metaphorically, at least.

  • How is the guy that played Cato in HBO's Rome gonna be in this and not play Cato?

  • @mrmichigan97 Cato wasent as old as portrayed in Rome. This series however is abit more historical accurate so they replaced Cato with an actor that matched his aged better.

  • They should have casted this guy to be Ceaser in HBO's Rome instead of that other guy. This Ceaser is awesome!

  • @6Ott7 Nah Ciaran Hinds was awesome as Ceasar, this guy was good too but not as good as him

  • its intresting to think of what might have been had ceaser failed. how would things have been different had rome remained a republic? would someone else have had the same idea later?

  • @geryainte i mean interesting sorry for the mispell

  • "the nearest thing rome had to a parliament" lol. Yeah, because a parliament is naturally a superior development and Senates are a lost relic of a bygone age never seen in the world anymore.

  • America is ruled by Aristocrats.

  • @12punisher so i think u must learn italian btw u just faggot let me see ur sister so i can fuck here

  • r they playing chinese go in 9:14?

  • @Splitbelgium that why im saying without any hero like cesare or alexander they cant win againts arab country bcuz of their massive numbers

  • @x111tian I suggest you learn English, I can hardly understand a word you're saying.

  • 01.40 the same old man as in Rome the serie,

but in a different role :)

guess the man liked hid toga too much =D

  • I'm off to put Rome back in the hands of me- er- the people! XD

  • karl johnson should have played Cato here as well he did an excellent job in rome

  • @12punisher12 oi read the history the persian empire i mean muslim but even if that is not their religion in that time. the thing im saying is that the persian empire got a big amount of army so without cesare or ane europe hero the europe might me the africa now? do u get it?

  • @x111tian: The Persian empire has been detroyed by Alexander the Great..!

  • @Splitbelgium Not just by Alexander the great. Even before that, the Greeks fought the Persians in wars, and managed to win while outnumbered, by tactics and strategy.

And BEFORE THAT, the ancient Egyptian Pharao's sucesfully waged wars against the Eastern people in Turkey and the Levantine (Israel / Lebanon / Palestine /....).

And let's not forget modern days. If you think somehow Allah will protect you from a cruise missile... lol... (not directed @ you, SplitBelgium)

  • @ulongkoror ur the 1 who is retarted.

  • Karl Johnson must be really good at portraying Roman aristocrats. He should have been allowed to play Cato here as well.

  • I see the third part isnt available? please upload in on any other websites, like ect. Filefront. : ) Grazie

  • haha It's funny because the romans are talking with british accents

  • World would've been better without Caesar? rofl!

Cato was a traditionalist. Which means, that the aristocracy should have 100% control over everything.

Caesar was a man of the people. They loved and supported him.

If we'd have these "older traditions", we'd have 'democracies' where only a select amount of people, an upper class of the super-rich, are allowed to go into politics. Where the common folk is harshly suppressed.

    How is that better?

  • @12punisher12 And what was Caesar offering? How is Caesar better?

  • marcus marcellus looks like darth sidious

  • @CatoTheYounger9546 u r stupid arent you? u must know the power of muslim of the arabic empire. even before the greek empire of alexander. if the roman did not conquiar such power then another emperor will attack and rule the europe which means slavement. ur such asshole.

  • @x111tian Not stupid enough to use ad hominems. How about you calm yourself down first before critical thinking. No one is going to respond back if you consistently use vulgar language.

  • @x111tian Alexander was 1000 years before Islam. However since you're seemingly unable to speak/type English comprehensibly, I'm hoping you meant something else.

  • @x111tian

    are you mentally retarded?

  • The poor have always been easily manipulated, something about "bread and circuses".....It continues today....Caesar was a great soldier, but he ruled Rome like a strongman, very much like Third World dictators today....

  • why did they make Ceasar gay?

  • so there u have it folks: bat's blood+oil = youthful skin

  • Caesar = King of the Gayboys

  • @BRUTUALTRUTH You must be crazy. Probably the greatest individual in human history. He was the father of the Empire and a true genius in every sense of the word. The very empire that made Europe great and led to it becoming what it is today and resulting in the ages of minds like Newton, Da Vinci, Galileo. It all started with Greece, then Rome and then the middle ages which really started a European near world domination with the start of the Spanish, French, Dutch and British empires.

  • @heathey2 If you studied law and knew about the Cato Family you wouldn't be saying this nonsense. The world would've been a better place without Caesar. Europeans would've had older traditions to cherish.

  • @CatoTheYounger9546 yeah, traditions like boot-kissing. Cato the Elder was an arrogant dirtbag who felt entitled to the fruits of everyone else's labor simply because he was born into a family that had a long tradition of being pampered. If Cato and the optimates had their way, Rome would have gone the way of the Ptolemaic Kingdom much earlier you can't have all of the leadership positions in society filled with candidates from a small, shallow pool of aristocratic families by default.

  • @vjd55 Tell me, why do people always confuse Cato the Elder with Cato the Younger?

  • @vjd55 doesn't that remind you of our government

  • @vjd55 Careful, brother. You're talking like a Tea Partier.

  • He was first and foremost a politician and Roman citizen, he was not a born and bred military man to start with. He was a politician who discovered the power of the armies and used them just like any other tool in a politicians arsenal.

  • Wow this documentary is incredibly well made. Every documentary should be made like this.

  • The on [laying Marcus Marcellus is the REAL CATO ROME! HBO ROME THAT IS!

  • And there is nothing mesioned that Pompey was a consul.

  • @Noodles37UK HAHAHAHAHA that's brilliant XD HAIL EMPEROR NOODLES DOWN WITH BERLUSCONI AND HIS TYRANNY

  • Comment removed

  • @Noodles37UK im going to sieze it first!

  • This is great.Much better than the American version.

The woman sounds like some video game voiceover.

  • grrrr why they made ceasar talk like a drag queen!! sounds fauny and stupid!

  • " Veni, vidi, vici " ( I came, I saw, I conquered) Julius Caesar 47 BC

  • where the hell is part 3!!!!??????

  • if i lived in these times... id be in ceasers legion somewhere.. id follow that dictator to hell n back..

  • Hah it's Cato from Rome talking to himself :D

  • @sumadinac92 I noticed that myself!

  • What I'd like to have seen : At least one of the Kings/ The Eutruscans given a mention before an episode on the very beginning of Rome/ the start of the Byzantines proper/ Caligula and that paedo Tiberius as they'd have been good for a laugh/ Christians getting it in the arenas ( always a crowd pleaser ).

  • Finally a series that portrays Cato the Younger with some justice but Cato was a war veteran. Did he really advise Pompeii on such brash tactics?

  • @CatoTheYounger9546 oops. Pompey*

  • WOW the uniforms are way out of place the marian reforms happened after julius yet they still wear old hastita and pricple uniforms!! SHITTY AND WRONG UNIFORMS!!

  • Does Anybody know, if bats blood is actually good for your skin? LoL!

  • where vare parts 3 and 6?

  • @pauldg100

do not know exactly why but part 3 & 6 of Julius Caesar was blocked by BBC Worldwide on copyright grounds.

  • @Gr0nTh0s Remove these vids then, there is no point in watching if its missing parts.

  • @LapinPete BBC apparently hates education and knowledge. Money greedy assholes.

  • @Gr0nTh0s Can you reupload part 6?

  • where ia parts 3 and 6

  • sorry to ask but whats happened to parts 3 and 6?

  • @pauldg100

do not know exactly why but part 3 & 6 of Julius Caesar was blocked by BBC Worldwide on copyright grounds.

  • @pauldg100 in part 3 he crosses over the Rubicon, and come to Rome...

In part 6 is battle of Pharsalus where he defeats Pompey's army and make Pompey run away...And Caesar's death

  • Ceasar means "Emperor" and he wasn't called that until he siezed power of Rome. His real name was Gaius Julius

  • @ComanderWall "Imperator" is what was translated to Emperor - from a military rank not a civic one.

The origins of the name Caesar and its relevance to Gaius Julius Caesar's family remains subject of debate.

  • @ComanderWall Caesar was his family's name (cognomen). The fact that it became synonymous with "emperor" just shows how influential he was.

  • part 3 is down

  • hail ceasar!

  • the Younger i mean

  • the actor who portrays Marcus Marcellus portrayed Cato the Elder in HBO's Rome.

    correct me if i'm worng

  • Hey Karl Johnson playing Marcellus. He played Cato in the HBO series Rome. He also has a great part in "Hot Fuzz". awesome.

  • 1:15 was also in the show rome.

  • Ave Caesar!

  • I would love to join the Roman Army knowing the pay was so high back then, now we are risking our necks for 15 hundred dollars a month. Back then a typical solider would have gotten 15 hundred dollars in one day. Thats a 3000% pay increase and yes I mean thousand. Plus you were given tens and hundreds of acres of land, slaves, and a pension. Its like you almost lived like a king.

  • @Michaeltanase actually a soldier was underpaid compared to the average Roman. Now he could augment his income through plunder taken from whatever country he was campaigning in, but this would probably be squandered. Now land and bounties that were handed out by ambitious generals could help to ensure a veteran a decent living in his post military career but that's assuming he lived through decades of fighting and didn't die of dysentery, plague, or some other disease.

  • And after all that you still had no access to running water, electricity, or air conditioning. We also have a system similar now with 20 year vets getting out of the military and getting a high paying job in the military-industrial complex, plus their retirement pay.

  • I think above anything Caesar left behind it's his bond with his gereral Antonius that made him a human.

  • they do one about nero, he used to cover christians in wax and use them as candles... shame they dont caligula, he tried to go to war with poseidon, and killed a priest at a sacrifice XD

  • The senate building is so small!!!!!! It's as if it's the city of Roman dwarfs or something

  • pompey where alredy dictator then an the senat wharer skered for julius to be an dictator. but the rupuplik where alredy gone serisli

  • @MRbananar

NO Pompey wasnt dictator they gave him a position of un equal power but not dictator

  • "I need strong leadership..." ..That's why he die :(

  • ah, love how the Senators talk

    "HE MUST BE PROSECUTED"

  • Very Interesting documentary. BUT Where is the Part 3 of this series - looks like its missing ? Can some one please upload it ?

Part 03 of 06 - Julius Caesar - Critical moment 1/6 Ancient Rome The Rise and Fall of an Empire

  • NO!

  • haha that old senate always play that damn role i saw also in rome as cato the elder.. lol

  • marcus marcellus was cato on HBO's ROME!!! :D

  • lol in the first 3:00 of the video, "CEEEZA. CEEEZA. CEEEZA CEEEEEZA!"

  • i always thought the actor playing Pompey would make a good Vespasian

  • how do i turn off the subs?

  • @footballuva on the first part, on the bottom right corner of the youtube screen, there is a "cc" button. Just press it and the subs should go off. At least, that's what I did. Hope this helps.

  • It's funny how the actor playing Marcus Marcellus in this series plays Cato in HBOs story of these events.

  • I just noticed that, awesome. xD

  • 1:22 I think we see the senator who said he wanted Tiberius Gracchus' assasination in Revolution

  • These are really good quality (480p), & others host crap versions) but do we need the editorial subtexts? That turns me off from really recommending this particular file to view or download.

  • That's just a new youtube thing. You can turn them off.

  • @chris2002Rocklin just turn them off

  • very funny! the very actor that portrayed julius caesar in this series portrayed Brutus in The movie "Cleopatra"

  • nvrm i found the cap option :P

  • the subtitles are annoying,

But thanks for the upload, a very good episode.

  • What's the name of the actor playing Julius Caesar

  • Sean Pertwee, his father played the third doctor who

  • That actor playing Caesar is normally fantastic in everything he's ever done, except for playing Caesar. Just sayin'...................

  • Strange, I think his acting is wonderful, even giving something "female " and sofisticate to Caesar's personality, like maybe it was in the reality

  • @fabriva00 I really don't think Caesar displayed any feminine qualities. He didn't mess with boys, like his peers did. I think he was all man. For real.

  • There are some voices about a relationship with the king of Bytinia, and he did continuous baths, so reminds to me something female

  • remember the line....every woman's man and every man's woman......thats what was said of him.....but i dont know how much truth is in that.....

  • all man but an extremely vain man this doc depicts him perfectly even showing his well known obsession with his comb-over hair

  • Hahahaha Very true. I didn't notice that before. I do now. Very good.......

  • @2242bzo yup!

  • @2242bzo Caesar was known for his vanity and sense of fashion. Plus their was a rumor of him and the king of Bythinia having an affair sometime in his youth.
