  • Holy shit! I had Socrates.

  • I enjoy your comments in parentheses about each commercial :). I think I had that baby Kermit too.

  • 30 years from now, our children will look back towards today and say "wow, that's retarded"

  • FYI I beleive the voice singing for the butter commercial is the great Dr. John!

  • Oh my god, I had that Miss Piggy when I was a baby lol

Opened it for Christmas in December '89 when I was 8 months old.

  • lmao its my fathers oldsmobile NOW. hehehe great set of commercials thanks for the flashback

  • omg butter commercials

  • the commercials today suck! they need to bring back the jingles and pick people up a little lol

  • I was damned when I found out that Mr. Quaker Oats was Dr. Blair from The Thing. Damn he aged years after he did that movie.

  • I love hearing James Stewart in that Cambell's soup commerical! I can't help but to imagine Wyley Burp from American Tail : Fievel Goes West when he was talking.

  • My gandmas name is Margaret!

  • My Mom still has the Muppet Christmas babies from McDonald's!

  • Boy I miss Jimmy Stuart. And George Burns as well.

  • Punch it, Margaret! I remember that one.

  • So am i getting laid tonight? @ 2:30

  • Wilford Brimley not talking about dia-be-tis?

What has the world come to?!

  • @ipot399 How is it that he hasn't aged in 20 years?

  • Love Wrigley's Spearmint gum, best gum ever!

  • Is that Dick Goddard at 3:25 lol?

  • @billyfrmhill Have we really arrived at a point in history where Jimmy Stewart's voice is no longer recognized? Sad.

  • "Thats Groooovy"

  • OMG! That apple 2gs is freaking high tech shit!!!

  • It's the Quaker Oats guy!!! And I noticed America was not that overweight back then... What happened to us??

  • Yeah! Punch it, Margaret!

  • Butter was threatened at the time by a margarine fad.

  • @iovandrake It wasn't just a margarine fad. People were being lied to about margarine. They were told that Margarine was healthier for you than butter. Margarine is actually the worst thing you can put in your body. It's plastic and never leaves your arteries and causes strokes. Where butter is natural and burns out of your body. Butter is better!

  • @humhunny I agree. I was just pointing out why at the time there was a butter industry promotion :P

  • Wrigley's commercials, Their always jingling in the '80's. Cool ( O )

  • OMG I HAVE baby muppet Piggy!!!!

  • OMG! I remember those muppet babies!! I so wanted them!

  • I don't think the Delta operator was lying to her supervisor. She took one call, where each guy handed off to the guy behind him.

  • Is that George Bush as the first caller in the Delta commercial?

  • @wilddriversb DOES look and sound like W, doesn't it!

  • Almost Home cookies!

  • WoolFord Brimley... OH God, LMFAO!

  • I find it interesting to see which brands/products are still around and which are long-gone.

  • Awesome, Bob Weir!

  • WTF Press 8 OVER AND OVER HAHAHA

    "Punch it" xD

  • Thanks to quaker oats...I now know the right thing to do.

  • @7:57 "Punch it Margarette!" I didn't think I'd ever see that commercial again. LOL

  • I still have a working Apple 2 in my garage. Belonged to my cousin, passed down by his dad, whose gonna be 30 in 5 days. Its still pretty spiff for a PC from the 70s.

  • Nice, the Sprint phone number @ 7:48 is still a valid Sprint 800 number.

  • @80sCommercialVault the reason butter was advertised is because it was losing market share to margarine at the time...at least i think

  • hehehe i actually had all three of the muppet babies stuffies. ended up giving them to a friend that has a toddler recently :D

  • No onder people don't like commercials these days; not necesseraily because there's too many, but becasue they are CRAP. Too digital, cheaply produced music, and too many infomercials on cable/daytime programming!

  • I had the miss piggy christmas toy. Now I feel Old..lol

  • 6:23 That dude at the end looks higher than a KITE!!!

  • 3:22 O_O The voice of the late, great Jimmy Stewart!!!

  • Ah... The Apple IIGS... My parents got me a Commodore 64... Those were the days.

  • Those 'Almost Home' cookies were damn good and I didn't prefer sweets.

  • I remeber those apple computers in school. we thought we had something back then lol

  • WOW! Wall-E is a clear rip-off of Socrates

  • They had the best toys at Mc Donald's back then, now they are thinking about getting rid of them if they can't turn nutritious happy meals? What the hell is up with that?

  • at 6:44 the dude looks like a serial killer

  • how loud is the mitsubishi home theather

  • Punch it Margret! I almost forgot about that one!

  • Wow, Apple IIs and Socrates. Look at how far we've come in 20+ years.

"Aw, your guy dumped up? Here, have some chicken soup, dearie."

  • 19. RIP Lynn Redgrave (1943-2010)

She may be gone but she will never be forgotten...

  • @texacobigred42

Very true. She was one of the best entertainers around and she will indeed be missed. But she's entertaining everyone on the other side, and reunited with her niece and parents. :)

  • haha! I had that same model Toyota! But I got that joint in 2003. lmbo!

  • Love the Home Cookin' commercial.

  • No, I'm the wine lady.

  • I remember like ALL of these.

  • My god, these things are like crack.

  • my grandma has that baby mozzie and i have it in my hands right now! from 1987!

  • @SarasUttube What the hell is a baby mozzie? Or do you mean Fozzie?

  • Diabeetus!

  • Old School BMX Freestylin' in the Wrigley's commercial was great!

BMX was not only a sport in the 80's, it was a micro-culture for most 8 to 18 year old kids!

  • @fred1671 I remember that and so was skateboarding. I couldn't do either. :-(

  • @rickyfan3956 You know it! I so remember the skaters in our school (and town) were always at odds with us BMX racers... we even sat on different sides of the cafeteria during lunch. Good times... LOL!

Sorry to hear you missed out... you can always buy a bike or a skateboard and start now. : )

  • "This is not your father's Oldsmobile." Um... yes it is. OLDS-mobile.

  • YEAH! PUNCH IT MARGARET!

  • omg....i still to this day have the holiday miss piggy....she was my sisters and i had kermit, but he disappeared lol

  • 3:29 "Grandpa chicken soup can't fix everything!" lmao

  • LOL! 9:28

  • Love the one second clip of Re-Animator on the 1st commerical.

  • #16 LOL!!! :)

  • lmao the Wrigley's commercial was the most epic thing ever.

  • omg, I remember Goddess of Love. Vanna was so hot!

  • @zmbdog I remember it too! I actually found that TV special a few years ago for a few bucks at FYE! It was HILARIOUS when Vanna said "Please do not operate the television so loudly this night!" I don't know why but I thought that line was so friggin' funny!

  • Diet Apple Slice in the Safeway commercial!!

  • haha Bob Weir didnt look thrilled to be in a safeway commercial

  • Can you believe Lynn Redgrave was in her 40s when she did those Weight Watchers commercials in the 80s and early 90s? She looked so much younger then...

  • Could that be because she was... "younger"!!

  • I remember the muppet dolls. In fact, I remember waking up on Christmas Morning in '88 and seeing all three of them right by my presents.

  • "Goodnight baby piggy" LOL

  • I'd eat Campbell's soup anytime with Jimmy Stewart.

  • LOL @ Bob Weir. Think he took a hit before he got on camera?

  • Hey Wilford, check your blood sugar, check it often!

  • 8:04 yeaaaaah, PUNCH IT Margaret! (this had me in stitches!!!) LMAO

  • funny....i have the same reaction using a sprint cell phone

  • LOL 100% rolled oats

  • damn 1.39 a six pack why cant prices stay like they were in the 80s

  • omg I remember almost home cookies, they dont' make'em anymore though too bad

  • A whole minute for gum commercial. And so much enthusiasm and effort for gum. Even the Air Force, Navy, and Marines were in it!! LOL That made me laugh.

  • A Christmas tradition at our home is before any ornaments are hung, one of us must unpack the Muppets... and squeeze Kermit, placing his feet

    straight into his mouth!

  • I can name something with 0 ingrediants.

    NOTHING!!!

  • I still chew Whirgley's! lol Doublemint...

  • The Socrates robot looks almost exactly like Johnny 5 from Short Circuit, except "kiddie-fied". SC 2 was released earlier in 1988 and they obviously just copied it.

  • Starch for weight loss? Now they are saying to avoid pasta if you wanna lose weight lOL!

  • @happycat2010 Happy the secret to weight loss is three fold. 1) eliminate all processed foods (that means panera bread, starbucks, all fast food go out the window) 2) eat as much whole non processed food as possible. 3) drink water.

If you can stick to what I've said for ten weeks you'll take off weight.

  • @blackshogun77 True, since mid April i started on a diet and switched tro whole wheat bread, fruit instead of sweets, water, and exercises, sugar & fat-free things, and I have lost 13 Pounds.

  • So they were talking about kids & steroids back in the 80's. . . Who would have thought? Lol. I love how there's been this resurgence of discussion over the past few years like it's NEVER! happened before! Lol. Not that I don't take the issue seriously, just funny to see them continuously trying to "reinvent it" as if it's never been as bad as it is now.

Great comercials by the way! Thanks for uploading!

  • I've never seen a more dramatic commercial for chewing gum

    hahaha

  • WOW. Sprint looked alot different then the way they are now.

  • One day my father rented an Oldsmobile to take on a business trip. I was 5, and my whole concept of an Oldsmobile centered around it not being my father's Oldsmobile. I was therefore confused...

  • Wow! You must've had a great vcr. These videos rock. And I used to have an '88 Ciera. What's sad is that I got it in 2003!

  • lol, how did it run?

  • Purred like a kitten. Then I sold it to my cousin for $200. It was broke down within a week!

  • butter in tomato soup???? nasty!!!

  • The best stash so far Mike.

    - I always loved at the end of every Sprint commercial with the pin drop.

    - $1.39 for a 6-pack? :D

    - The Gallo Wines commercial is so simple but is so creative and awesome at the same time.

    - The Campbell's commercial...man, they just don't make it like that anymore.

    - If it wasn't for the iPod, Apple would probably be defunct now because their computers back then were pretty poor.

Keep it up sir. Nostalgia's a bitch, ain't it?

  • i dunno man i mean i remember doing basic programing on an Apple IIe in junior high .. pretty easy to use even back then

.. well judging from the results of my programming skills, maybe they did suck ass ..

  • Hey, be careful with them Quaker Oats, might not be good for your Die-a-beat-us

  • Wilford Brimley reminds me of Teddy Roosevelt

  • socrates for your TV, I had one those and they were awesome. Until my sister poured a soda all over it so now i don't have it. I miss my Socrates. Whatever happened to Bryant Gumbel? I know his brother works for ESPN or CBS or some sports thing.

  • Frankie Avalon Jr. needs to lift some weights....FA Sr is still hot

  • Re: the Delta commercial.. she didn't technically lie to her supervisor. She DID get only one call but like 20 reservations, haha! I think that's a brilliant conclusion for the commercial.

On the other hand that must have screwed up her talk time stats for the day! (those who work or worked in a call center know what I mean!)

  • Wilford Brimley was 100 back then!

  • He only LOOKED 100--He was actually only 54!

  • we still put the baby kermit and baby piggy out every year.

  • Vanna will always spin the letters of my heart too

  • I had a socrates. Thanks for uploading brought back a lot of memories

  • thats a crappy apple computer...

    lol

  • Your the WINE lady!

  • Bob Weir is like MAD!

  • Socrates, i'm suprised, the keyboard looked like it was wireless

  • It's amazing how many of these I not only remember, but can actually still sing the jingle to.

...though there's more than a few for which I'm all, "Wow...I never saw that one!" Heh.

  • I had the Baby Fozzie Doll when I was 5. Now I'm 25.

  • there arent many good commercials nowadays (the few that are good, are really hillarious), but the vast majority blow.

Thanx for the video post, i miss these commercials

  • HMMM thats what my mom said to me every time she tucked me in "good night baby piggy".

  • I have the commercial at 1:47

  • Did you get most of this when back to the future was on in the 80s? Most of these I remember from my VHS from the 1980s my mom and I had these on the back to future video and also on Midnight Clear.

  • that gum commercial sounds like a Mellencamp song...

and WTF is that Dr. John singing the butter commercial??

  • Socrates was awesome! Thanks for posting these.

  • Is that Bob Weir from the Grateful Dead? It looks like he's loaded. L.O.R.L.

  • These commercials are great- they bring back alot of memories. Thanks to 80sCommercialvault!

  • I Love the 80's commericals. They are better than today's commericals. and the prices of the items were much cheaper.

  • I loved Socrates!!!! I was just wondering what happened to that toy.

  • I thought i was the only one that had that thing!

  • It's VVALL-E!

  • Even the "NBC Nightly News" Chime is the same.

  • LMAO The Cutlass Ciera commercial is funny. That thing looks like the biggest piece of crap now.

  • 2:34 Gallo Wines is that Jerry Seinfield?

  • No...

  • Not even close...

  • Wow I remember that Kermit the Frog muppet baby I think I had that. I didn't know it came from McDonalds.

  • Holy crap! Me too. I never knew the came from Mc Donalds either.

  • My sister used to watch Santa Barbara.

    Isn't that fascinating?!

  • No. Haha.

  • Ever thought you could go through an 80's commercial collection and escape from the horrors of The Bush Administration. Yeah, no such luck. lol

  • HA!!

  • The Sprint ad is too funny!

  • through out that 10 minutes, i wanted cookies, then soup, then mcdonalds chicken nuggets, then brownies...

You know commercials haven't changed lol!

  • Wilford Brimley ate those oats in the '80s and now he has the "diabeetus."

  • LOL. I couldn't stop saying "Di-ah-beetus" while watching that!

  • (2:43) that ant farm looked like a flat screen on first glance

  • Here in Australia we still use that old K-Mart logo.

  • Safeway!! lol.. i used to go there with my mom back in the 70's and 80's.

  • bea aurthor's voice in almost home?

  • Back then butter needed advertising. Right after the oatbran craze, the healthees took over and wanted all the fat and flavor eliminated from our lives. Butter was bad because it was "saturated fat". And we should all stick to margarine, which was "un-saturated". Now, margarine is bad because it's "trans-fat". Good night, nurse.

  • There's Campbell Soup, then there's Jimmy Stewart.

  • oh jeeze

  • Bob Weir is very creepy. Whoever he is.
