People are stupid for disliking this so much. In the shades part, all the circles in the middle of each different shade are the exact same; he uses the other circle which is one colour for proof. In the size one, the one on the left seems smaller than the one on the right, but they are the same size.

What??! I love optical illusions, but this one did absolutely nothing. Maybe my eyes are just too used to seeing these things, or maybe I am going blind, but nothing in this video seemed out of the ordinary to me. Can someone that understands it please explain exactly what was supposed to happen?

hmm... the size i think is because they are quarter circles and couldnt fit inside eachother if they were bigger or smaller, the shade was hard to tell but seemed simple to me, they all hve the same shade just the shades seem to bulge when theres a lighter/ darker background thats why i don't paint white on my canvas duh also don't hate me cuz I'm wrong geez 11 in age

I believe many people can't understand. But I don't think this one is awesome at all (compare other illusions).

The Shade:

+Illusion: Look like all smalls oval have same color with the big oval.

+Truth: The color of smalls oval is different (left is light gray, right is dark gray). The big oval color actually change a little from light gray (at bottom) to dark gray (at top)

The size:

+Illusion: The left look more curve and smaller than the right.

+Truth: They are exactly same.

its all about contrast and and the fact that the luminance of the background is different from the luminance of the circle, hence the coontrast and therefore some circles appearing brighter than others

Because of the arc, the one next to it has to be tilted backward so it doesn't overlap, making one of them appear longer. Then it's moved to the front and tilted forward for the same reason and their sizes appear to be switched. I don't see what this has anything to do with shade though. All the separate sections do is give you a point of reference for "measuring". You could have done the same thing with any random colors.

They way they are shaped causes the brain to think one is ethier bigger or smaller when they are curved. But when you switch them they look like they switch sizes when they are really the same size.

For those that don't understand the illusion.

With shade, he's trying to show that all the ovals are the same color. But the lighter and darker backround colors make the ovals look different.

With size, he's trying to show that the arc and length of the shape makes two identicals look different sizes when seperated.

For size, shorter and wider works better for that illusion.
