@ephamilton that what I was thinking.... geez dedicated for that shot... or the 150 bucks he might get for the video...... wonder if he had an audible
@korbentaz CYPRES fires @ 1900 ft - videographers main deploys 2 sec later which would put him around 1500-1600 ft. Low, but not crazy dirty low as long as he's aware. I would've done the same, I have done the same. Not the best practice to do a lot of but hopefully they are better at pulling handles than the TI. The fact that they had a main out shows they were on this jump.
@ephamilton Minimum deployment altitude for C and D license holders are 2,000 feet. Cypres TANDEM activation altitude 1,900 feet. The video flyer did not go all that low now did he?
@subacute they changed C-license to 2,500. I just got my c-license yesterday. My examiner for my coach rating says he had a guy doing the AFFI course who tracked all the way to cypress fire after the examiner took him down to 1,700ft (playing the student).
I know of two other non-drogue deployments. 1 was another cypress fire, and the other emergency procedures were executed and reserve deployed before cypress cut the reserve loop.
That's almost as bad as the video I saw where the TI forgot to hook the upper attachment points on the student's harness. I forget the name of the video but you see them split apart at the shoulders on exit but they recover and get hooked up. Scary stuff.
How stupid and irresponsible is that instructor. You are supposed to have the drogue out within seconds after exiting with tandem. I would never trust that instructor.
@paulomsilva with that type of knowledge you wouldnt be allowed to jump at my dropzone nor would I want to put my life in your hands if thats how you think a tandem jump should be.
@PlayaFishi@PlayaFishi Of Course! There are some DZ where is not safe to jump. Maybe your's is one of that!! What I said, is (for example) on the SIGMA Tandem Manual from UPT, ot ATOM Tandem from Parachutes de France. You also can find it on the USPA manuals. You must read correctly what is writed there.
@SkydivinryanHas a tandem examinater from some tandem makers, I'm telling that in a situation of un eventual jump where the freefal is done in terminal speed, the time needed to get the right speed on opening must be 10 sec before opening, that is something around 1600 ft above opening altitude.
For un easy understand, we stabilish 2000 ft above opening altitude; so, if you want to do freefal in terminal speed with a tandem (without drogue), and opening at 5000 ft, it means that at least at 7000 ft you must pull the drogue.
@Skydivinryan That what I teach in the 20 years I have as tandem Examinater, in my aroun 3000 jumps as tandem master. When you don't understand what people say, please ask un explanation; don't insulte them. Regards. Paulo Moreira da Silva
God that was a messed up tandem, what were her legs and arms doing the whole time. And they were jumping from a heck of a plane, this can't be some amateur outfit. wtf
What kind of instructor was that? I mean jesus, if you're cameraman is in a head down position, and he stays that way the entire jump, you should be thinking about why he's doing that..

When your video guy is head down and still can't keep up, the wheels should start turning. My guess is that this is not the first time this has happened.
That is EXACTLY what I was thinking mate!! How can you not realise something's wrong when your vidiot is is ass up in a screamer and still can't keep up. I think a piss test would be in order.
WHAT THE!! How did he forget??

Loose side connectors, she gets both her legs to one side of his. He went for drogue 4 times as far as I can see and got fixated.

Hey, I think I know that TI, and I also recognize that skyvan. He's no longer doing tandems.

The student should be allowed to knee the TI in the nads with the some force she got jerked by in that opening.
