  • This is a fantastic interview. She clearly understands the man and his work and asks some genuinely personal questions. I get the impression that he respects her for that.

  • It's almost like her pants are being magically drawn toward him.

  • Wonder if he fucked her afterwards?

  • If you are interested, Ruscha’s “Real Estate Opportunities” from 1970 is up for auction on eBay.

  • "and quite a lot of the poeple end up dead?" duh isn't that what he just said in a far more eloquent manner, I'll give her the benefit of the doubt she's starstruck bless her.

  • Who else would like to make out with the interviewer?

  • Fantastic interview; intelligent questions - I just wish it were longer. I didn't know he had a breakdown as recent as that. I did notice how skinny he looked.

  • Good to see an interview by someone who properly gets him. Like he said, only women will properly get Blood's a Rover.

  • He has such an captivating voice

  • She's a great interviewer - perfect, actually, for him.

  • He is such an Amazing Guy! He came to my class on Monday!

  • she really is very good :)

  • Yes, he's an enaging interviewee - no doubt about that. Glad you enjoyed it.

  • I've not actually read ANY of his work - I've watched L.A Confidential - but having heard of this man, I decided to check him out on YouTube. He really is a terrificly interesting, watchable man. I could listen to him all day. Theres a video of him on a TV chat show on here - It's hilarious !! check it out.

  • It's worth reading some his novels. Black Daliah for example is a great read. He manages to get inside the dark heart of humanity like no one else. And the story lines are complex but very engaging. I will check the TV show feature you recommended - do you have a link address?

  • Hi. I will definitely pick up one of his books. I favourited the video, so just click on my name and search my 'favourites' (or look for 'James Ellroy inteview 1997'). I had never heard of the man until I recently read a small Dail Mail article about him being on BBC radio's Desert Island Discs. Apparently it was one of the best interviews (haven't heard it yet). Anyway, the video shows a completely different side to James Ellroy's character - couldn't be more different to what we see here.

  • James Ellroy dosent mean a tjhing, the only thing that matters, are His Books

  • If you say so...

  • @ari1234a True, true. But, hell, he's an entertaining interviewee all the same.

  • Oh, dude, you should check out Dahlia and The Big Nowhere asap, you'll be blown away.

  • @GovernmentGuy Suggestion: Start with the brilliant trilogy composed of: The Big Nowhere, LA confidential, White Jazz.

  • Terrific upload. Thanks buddy.

  • No problem - currently reading Blood's a Rover.

  • Thanx digitalexistential!

The greatest novelist alive: James Ellroy.

  • No problem - please check out my other videos.

  • That was so great, but is there more?

  • Sorry that was the complete interview as broadcast on the culture show. That said, they sometimes provide extras on their website. Thanks for replying.

  • don't get the bad reviews of the cold six thousand - it's an awesome tour de force.

  • Thanks for the advice. I must admit I haven't read any reviews yet. Sometimes a bad review is a good sign in my books.
