  • In the late 50's when I was 12 yo the club had moved around the corner and was located on the 2nd floor @12 N Clark St. I used to go to the Sunday matinee concert @ 4:00 with my older cousin. We saw Ellington, Basie, Maynard Ferguson big bands, Brubeck, Cannonball Adderley, George Shering. They had a 'kiddy section' in the back of the room. Cover charge was $1.50 with one soft drink included in the cover. And all the autographs you could garner.

There was another jazz club called The Modern Jazz Room that was located on Randolp just west of State St that was on the 2nd floor 2 above the Preview Lounge that had Sunday Matinee shows 4 kids 4 only $1.50. I saw M Davis wColtrane etc, Max Roach wRollins Stan Getz JJ Johnson Chet Baker - I can't even remember them all now.
