@bonnarj7 Actually, the biggest problem with string theory is that it's so complex mathematically that it's nearly impossible to get your head around it. That's why there is so little progress now, and most of physics is dealing with the standard model (which in many cases is not very precise, and has a major problem as it does not incorporate gravity). What is needed is a general theory to get the five theories to become consistent. It is definitely not tricks.
