As sad as I was at the decision of MIke Portnoy to leave the band, I could not be happier with the decision to bring on Mike Mangini. He is an incredible talent and has brought his own unique style to the band's already awesome sound. Thank YOU Dream Theater for creating amazing music, regardless of who your drummer is.

I'm happy for Dream Theater, but at the same time it must be saddening and depressing to Mike seeing how Dream Theater is becoming this big name in the music industry playing exactly what we have never thought could become this popular in the popular world: Technical/Progressive Metal.

I know Mike made his decision, and probably regrets it by now, but as a huge fan of DT and MP, I really hope he's holding on well and puts his talent in amazing new ventures.

@molecular360 Not really, I thought Mike leaving would give DT a chance to move more towards the style of images and words/SFAM. Vocally its no variation, and the songs just sound bland. Anyways, the drums on this album is written by Petrucci, and mike just went to the studio to record it. Maybe the next album will be better.
