Pure MAGIC! Honesty in music... some guy who commented on here was very right - these great performers loved their music and stardom was just a bonus. This wonderful song will always be sad for me personally, in that my dear sister died the week this became number 1 in the UK in February 1965. RIP Bobbie, I love you. Thanks for posting.
Why dont the music companies support real musicians anymore ? I seriously dont think that the music of todays " stars" ( I refuse to call these people artists) will still be heard 10-20-50 years from now.
@rakingindasquad I just made an observation, which was not against or anti anybody. It was a perfectly logical statement which if you think is wrong you should have written a logical answer instead of calling me names .Sir may I know the reason for the hate and the insult?
@Galavya41 and my comment wasnt anti anyone either :L the fact is this song is shite, let's face it, so get off your high horse and dont be a dick and be like 'oh music so bad now mmmkaaay'
Anyone saying all new music is crap is clearly only hearing what's in the charts. Listen to wide range of music and you will find plenty of great and crap songs from any era.
@Guitarfan1995 No sir all new music is not crap but most of it is anyway..and thats because the performers today want to be stars while having no respect for music. The performers of the gone era actually loved music, music was their passion and stardom was a side effect.Talented artists are ignored by the companies but thanks to services like itunes we are seeing a new generation of artists who love music and genuinely put in their best efforts in creating the best songs for their listeners.
I feel like my Marriage is just about over after 40 yrs.this .....is how I feel" don't care anymore" Durgs has taking over" and I'm so tired of the fights.......I can do bad all by Myself"""Bonnie
Hard to believe that this song was written by the same guy that did "Who Put the Bomp". But he and his wife wrote so many great songs. This one ranks right up there with "We Gotta Get Outta This Place" as far as classic 60's songs.
why do some people knock what other people like it takes alsorts of music and performers to make it a more pleasurable world to live in a bit of tolerance wouldnt go amiss
Has perdido ese sentimiento amoroso ahora se ha ido, ido, ido. Si sólo me amas como solías hacerlo. Tuvimos un amor un amor que no se encuentra todos los días. Así que no dejes que se escape.
I have always felt that Bobby Hatfield was one of the most underrated singer of all time. His vocal talent was amazing, its just to bad that most of their songs wouldn't let him shine.
i'm starting to get sick of ppl commenting about how good old songs are and how so many ppl listening to new junk. i mean..every fucking video its the same comments. give it a rest.
i feel this is another "i took an arrow to the knee"
please...give it a rest...when u were younger you listened to bullshit...
as you grow older you start liking food that you hated, you started to appreciate good music and you stop listening crap.
but plz sustain yourselves from making such comments. just enjoy.
@baalzor- I don't think the new music is junk. Everyone has different tastes, and that includes musical tastes. What we grow up listening to seems to always have a special place in our hearts and tends to bring back a lot of good memories. I believe that's why people comment in such a way. I, myself, don't like a lot of the newer music, but there are still a lot of good songs and bands out there. SO, I do agree with you :)
au contraire, i think there are sooo many good new songs.
its just the concept of the posts ppl make on videos of old songs, trying to step out, trying to feel special cuz they like some old good songs...you know..
thats what i just...simply cant avoid in every video of the older songs :)
@bcjbutterick Nope, it's way past the 'everything is relative' argument at this point. The new music is, without any doubt, unadulterated soulless junk that does not in any way even come close to matching the music of the 1960s & 1970s . The music of today is of such low quality, such a vast sea of mediocrity, that it makes even Disco music seem great by comparison.
@baalzor Bullshit. Every great band I listen to today I discovered when I was a teenager in the 1970s and I still listen to most of these groups today 30 years later, not because of nostalgia but because the music doesn't grow old. There was hardly a damn thing worth even the effort of discovering in the past 20 years.
@Yugiohguy987 It was Bobby Hatfield who sadly died before his time. They were brilliant singers individually and as a duo. Their legacy of songs including "unchained melody" and "your my soul, your my inspiration" will live long in the memory. First heard them when I was 12 - still listening almost 50 years later.
@vintage52 my sister took my dad and i to a concert at hampton beach i think it was and they played the best music aside from the beatles of course :p but it was like 5-7 years ago i think and i still listen to them i am 16 at the moment and i love the oldies because all the new crap is bad in my opinion and they dont make music like this anymore which is so disappointing :/
@Yugiohguy987 They do, actually, it's just hard to find. Nick Cave's Ship Song. Dar Williams' After All. Ani Difranco's Both Hands. These are a few examples.
In my mind this pop music at it's purest. Beautiful harmonies and melody. Lyrics that touch upon your own life or situation. Songs you can cry, laugh and shout to. This is sacred
i love how classic songs have only a fraction of views compared to the ATROCIOUS junk they pass off as music today... jus lets u kno where the mass music listeners head is today
@greasy2007 Consider that hundreds and hundreds of millions of people have heard this song many, many times over and that's just in America. So if there were a YouTube when this song came out then the views would be off the charts.
im only 22 but i feel so old because i know and love all these oldies but goodies while all my friends are like "huh?" when i say that i love the righteous brothers
Thirty-six dislikes? Are you kidding? Are these people who just "dislike" everything because, well, they can? Because that's the only plausible explanation I can think of for anyone who knows anything about music for disliking this.
You can't really tell but a young 18-year-old Cher is singing in the backup female chorus. At the time she was dating Sonny who worked for Phil Spector who produced this
@IStennaI Look it up the Righteous Brothers did way better with this song than Elvis, His version was really bad. I like Elvis, but not his version of this song.
Dislike this must have a tumour in the audio cortex if there is one ......one of the very best love songs of all time I cannot give this a a somthing out of ten , it is a truly strataspheric tune, and cannot be judged only enjoyed........
My mother loved this song and I remember when I was 10 yrs. old hearing it on the radio and to this day I think The R Brothers were so talented. I love how they harmonized!!!!
That's the original single mix, which you never hear on the radio now. The difference between this and the later one is that the violins are less prominent here. You notice it most at "gone gone gone, and I can't go on."
Having got used to this mix, I always found the later one a bit jarring.
The girl at the end kinda reminds me of Anna Paquin, maybe family-related to her :p? Probably not, but by the way, very beautiful song, almost none can top this song.
OMG.... Why on earth can't anyone sing like this anymore.... thank god for the sixties... music very much missed, but still enjoyed by lots who loved it back then, timeless....
Wonderful performance but will always be a sad song for me, because it hit number 1 in the UK in 1965 the same week as my sister died following a car crash. Memories.... thanks for posting.
This song got me the girl ive liked for a long time. I couldnt have the balls to tell her that so i sang this... and it worked. Thank you everly brothers
suddenly its 1987 me and my best friend are singing this song to 2 waf,s at R.A.F. Sinderby in the naffi he went on to marry the girl he was singing to and 24 years later thay are still to gether and married and have just become grandparants, Colin and Tracey congrats and all because of a film called top gun.

oh dont get me wrong, i am a huge fan of old songs. i just enjoy listening to it.
nowadays, evaluating if a song is good or not depends really on your taste..
but there are really great new artists with great songs.
you have for example, bon iver - skinny love...or even gotye - somebody i used to know
ooor mumford and sons - home, ooor...florence + the machine - what the water gave me or...glen hansard/marketa irglova - falling slowly...
these r rly good songs

Wonderful performance but will always be a sad song for me, because it hit number 1 in the UK in 1965 the same week as my sister died following a car crash. Memories.... thanks for posting.
