OMG David Whitfield was my Great Uncle as well. my grandfather's name is Fredrick R. Whitfield. So, we are all related in some random sort of way. Weird.
I actually have some of David's hand charted music, so if anyone's interested...jeffwhitfield718@gmail.com BUT you have to prove you're related! HA
This is my grandads cousin :)! I was named after him :)! I am from Grimsby and everyone whos like 50 - 60+ asks me if I am David Whitfield reincarnate ahaha :D But I tell them his a relative ahaha :)!
Never thought i would like Davids songs so much when my father played them time and time again, now its songs from David and memories of my dear father CLIFF...
@Blue17velvet i was 16 years old when i went to see a movie ,sea wife, david sang the theme song, the next day i had his album, i have loved his music ever since i am now 70, i wonder if other types of music could ever last so long , his is timeless
I want to cry when I hear this, it reminds me of my favourite auntie and my dad , both of which I have lost. Beautiful meaningful songs in those days.
Yes, Portsmouth is very proud of David, the David Whitfield Rose is in a large rose bed in the rose gardens, His photograph is in the Kings Theatre, he is often mentioned in the local paper. He has many fans and friends here.
Perfection, it certainly deserved to be at no 1 in the hit parade. David shared the no 1 position with Frankie Lane, Christmas week, which I think is still a record. Hadnt been done before or since.

David sings this more softly and with less vibrato, which I like, and to me brings out his most natural voice.
