Some times the wire inside the screen part becomes lose take apart the screen housing, check that the wire is plugged in all the way (back of screen inside) that’s the only thing I know of the g4 14 inch. I get one that’s 1 of the problems with it. It doesn’t boot up but the screen comes on now. Have not messed with it since.
After visiting the Apple Store and getting a quote of $430, I took it (ibook) home and used an Alan-wrench and a small Philips screw driver and took the screen apart. Apparently what had happened is the wires that go from the mother-board to the back of the screen had simply become disconnected. So I simply plugged it back in and the desktop appeared. No more white screen. I put it all back together and it works fine. I should go put an application into the Apple store so I can be a genius too.
if ur mac came with cd's unlike mine >:( just put the disc in restart holding down C as soon as you hear the boom go through and do a clean install of os x and it should work after that if not call 1-800-my-apple
